Jaxon's - Eating House

Cranham Golf Course St Mary's Lane, Upminster RM14 3NU, UK | Event Venue
P: 01708 560056

Rating: 4.4 (140) Price Level:

My husband and I have just had our wedding reception here and were overwhelmed with how brilliant Kevin and his team were. Nothing was too much trouble - even down to Kevin making sure we were all sorted for a lift home at the end of the night. The food was all beautifully presented and tasted incredible. We had so many compliments from our guests about how lovely the food was and how much they liked Jaxon’s as a choice of venue. We would not hesitate to rebook future functions with Jaxon’s (and will definitely be back to try their Sunday dinner!) We cannot thank Kevin and his team for going the extra mile for us, we are truly grateful X

Some of the reviews were a bit divisive but gut feeling said to have a look. My wife and I really loved our meals. The Brie and Chutney starter was absolutely delicious!! My wife had the prawns and loved them, everything tasted fresh. Roast main was delicious, everything made sense, presentation great, offered choice between horseradish, mint sauce and mustard which was nice touch (I picked horseradish). I had lamb which gravy was sweet and complemented well, wife picked beef. Kevin, the owner, was hospital and was the staff who were really friendly. Despite my son running around, they were not touchy or displayed any signs of being annoyed. Highly recommend this place, hidden gem.

For breakfast, the Full English is a standout, with perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, savory sausages, and a generous serving of baked beans and mushrooms. The fluffy pancakes, served with fresh berries and a drizzle of maple syrup, are another morning delight that shouldn't be missed. Coffee enthusiasts will be pleased with Upminster Cafe’s offerings. I visit Upminster cafe quite often and I can truly say that their customer service and quality of food are amazing! The atmosphere of the cafe is very friendly, kind and willing to please customers all the times. Their hot drinks are nice and hot and not like other places where they serve it warm only. I have tried different varieties on their menu and they all so so delicious! It is a very hygienic, clean cafe you can confidently come along and enjoy your meal. I will always highly recommend this cafe!

They have recently redecorating the pub, and it has a more upmarket feel. Lots of parking on site, and the food and drink are well priced. The menu is good, and you can order and pay from your table. Main course, desert and drink for ÂŁ25

A lovely pub, a little out of the way for many, I am not sure there is a bus that goes anywhere near this place. It is reachable by walking and car. The food is usually excellent, the drinks prices are average, the staff are friendly. There is outdoor seating which is a boon during a hot summer. Inside can be busy. It is rare that you get the 'football crowd' which is nice (unless that is what you are after) There is parking for roughly 30 vehicles. Although free parking in the street is not far away

Lefke Bar & Grill

Rating: 4.3 (253) Price Level:

By chance my sister suggested here in a brief conversation, I've lived in the area for many years but never been myself. The waitress Rupy was very accommodating, from when I initially called to the level of service provided at the table as well as the other staff members. The food portions were very good and it had plenty of flavour. The décor was modern and with the calm music, created a nice setting. This will definitely be a regular place to visit.

Went on a Friday evening, and we were a large group. The service, like the food, is exceptional. Everyone was well looked after, and the food was amazing as you can see from the photos. The entertainment-belly dancing- was fun. She was a great dancer and entertainer and included Everyone. Whether it's just you and your partner, or a group of friends, you'll really enjoy a night at Lefke.

The Thatched House

St. Marys Ln, Upminster RM14 3LT, UK | Pub
P: 01708 641408

Rating: 4.2 (1054) Price Level:

The service from the beginning was great. Our waitress seemed to be running the floor by herself and did a good job to make sure everyone was seen to promptly with the restaurant being fairly busy, with a friendly and welcoming attitude. After our first drinks we chose a bottle of Rioja which was delicious, and the waitress agreed it was a great choice. The Camembert to start was a nice sharer, and we chose the sea bass and the fish cakes for main. The sea bass was very tasty and an overall great dish. The fish cakes were tasty but we felt the dish needed something to pull it together more as it was dry. We went all out and had dessert, and again the waitress was very accommodating in allowing us to have ice cream and custard with our choices. The setting was very comfortable and homely, and seemed clean and well looked after.

There will NEVER EVER be enough words of gratitude for this establishment for the amazing wake they gave my Aunt on the 7th January. From the second I walked in to book the venue to the minute I left last night, they could not do enough for me. I cannot recommend them highly enough and it’s never an easy day to deal with but there was not one single thing I could fault from the food to the service; it was amazing!!! Just wanted to say a huge thanks to Denise, Lorraine, Georgia and everyone else that helped behind the scenes (even the cleaner John who helped me with all the decorations today and was super kind when I went back to collect everything). Never ever hesitate to book this venue for your occasion; they will bend over backwards to make it spectacular x
