The Best Golf Courses in Leigh, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom (2025)

Absolutely stunning building and surroundings. We recently hired the golf club for a private function, the members all made us feel very welcome and the staff were extremely attentive. The bar and events manager, Brandon made sure everything ran smoothly and was very sensitive and understanding about our needs and wishes his team were all friendly and helpful going above and beyond to make sure everything was just as we needed. Josh was extremely patient and professional when greeting us all with tea and coffee on arrival to the bar staff who handled the bar and serving drinks for a toast to a large group easily, were very friendly. During the evening when the lower part of the building wasn't being used they put children's TV on in a separate room to entertain the smaller ones. The chef also cut up bits of food so that the children could feed the wildlife on site.The food he prepared for our guests was outstanding, plenty of food on the buffet but the attention to specific dietary requirements was again above and beyond expectations. The whole service couldn't be faulted from our initial meeting to look around the venue to going back the next day to collect things their warmth and attention to detail was flawless. Thank you to Brandon and all staff and golf members that we met throughout our booking, for making sure the celebration of our Dad's life was as smooth and as beautiful as it possibly could be.

The term hidden Gem gets used a lot but this is definitely hidden and its definitely a gem. The club has a great setting with a long single track drive from the main road through the course to a stunning clubhouse that has a moat with Black Swans on it. The staff were fantastically helpful and friendly. The course starts with a really tough 200+ yard par 3 (play for the front edge wherever the pin is). The course is a really enjoyable layout, not a tough walk or overly long and it was in very good condition.

Great welcome in the pro shop , very friendly .Only played 9 holes as a visitor but wow , the best greens I've played hands down all year. The front 9 had some really lovely holes ,especially the par 3 9th. Will 100% be going back 100% credit to the greenstaff. Pics of the 9th green and also looking back to the 9th tee. Superb hole.

Having been a member previously, I was happy to play a round last week, to my delight, I cannot tell you the improvements that have been made to the course. Rob (head green keeper) and his team have improved the course and the ascetics 10 fold. The greens are in the best conditions I’ve ever seen them, the fairways and second cuts are cut to perfection and the general upkeep is second to none. Well done Rob and team for the great improvements and attention to detail. Definitely well worth a visit if you looking for a round of golf.

Nice course. Good, inviting fairways from the tee box. Some long par 4s and a 210 yrd par 3. 16th drives over the 4th green, so it can cause a little bit of a wait. 6th has a ditch right on driver distance running across fairway be careful. 9th hole par 3 very tough, good-looking hole. Overall, it was very nice, not too hilly course. Proshop and clubhouse are very good.

Amazing greens for February. Course was great. Nice layout, a mix of holes and incredible condition for the time of year

Not bad condition for November. Boggy in spots but greens were good. Think £28 is a bit high for the time of year and condition. Played February. Greens were still good but it was plugging a lot. Lost a couple of balls that landed not far off the fairway. Not many places let you play full greens and tees this time of year so fair enough considering the weather

Proper golf in January no mats no temp greens helpful staff and friendly members would join this course if it was 20 miles closer

Fabulous, well priced course. Buggy hire extremely reasonable. The course is laid out very well as has some really challenging holes. A good test around. The greens are impeccably kept and the bunkers bar one are near perfect. Play advised......

Nice clean clubhouse with friendly helpful staff, didn't really get a look at pro shop. This is a great little course with undulating fairways hiding some monster size bunkers (with good sand in most) and some really well placed, making any golfer think a bit and course management is vital as there are hidden streams and water hazards which are not visible on a few fairways. Greens are good also, and I recommend this course to any average to good golfer, maybe a bit too challenging to a novice.

I've been walking around this beautiful place during 2020 lockdown in UK. I can't stress enough how much I appreciate its been located just across the street. I thought it would be nice to contribute with some photos I took. Have fun all golf lovers it's a perfect place for your game!

Great day out. Nice little course with some lovely holes. Great to see maintenance being carried out on the course aswell. The course was reasonable dry considering the rain we have had. Well worth a visit . 100% be back. Friendly pro shop and well sign posted.

Lovely little course, well looked after! Managed to drive the 9th hole last round so its my favourite place at the minute!

What a great little course. 1st time here today and loved it. We will 100% be back! Price is more than fair at £8 for 9 holes or £13 for 18. Like that you get the option after paying and playing 9 you can pay the £5 and go again if you want.

It was a nice experience, I think it was 2 or 3 of the par 3s was just a tad too short to count as a hole lol but the rest was great to play the par 4s was good too. All in all the greens was well enough £8 isnt too bad and it's great practice for the short game which I didn't know I needed until I played here haha.

Really nice for a par 3 course, greens not the fastest but in good condition. The closest to a normal course co ditions I have seen on a par 3 course. Would really recommend for short game practice. £9 for 9 or £14 for 18 holes. The only negative it when I went they only accepted cash and no card payments.

I recently held my 80th birthday celebration for approximately 50 guests in the Function Room at the club. I want to compliment the club caterers "Chip and Sip" and the club bar staff on their service and friendliness in providing a magnificent Hot and Cold buffet, the food was excellent and plentiful, all fresh and prepared and cooked in the Club house kitchen. Everyone was impressed with the quality of the food and the bar service. I would thoroughly recommend Pike Fold Golf Club as an ideal venue for any kind of social function.

Not played pike fold before but I was pleasantly surprised and really impressed with the course - good design and routing of holes. It was in really good condition and the greens were superb - excellent pace and roll to them. Was quite busy for a Monday morning but pace of play was fine. Enjoyed a pint afterwards, and staff and members that we met were friendly. Would definitely go back and play there again.

Played the seniors open and the course was in good condition particularly the greens. Fairly generous off the tees but with a few hazards dotted about. Everyone very friendly in pro shop and clubhouse. Well worth a visit.

Had a great day's golf, the course is in excellent condition and the staff really helpfulness friendly. Will definitely pay another visit soon.

Even late in the season the course was really well presented, nice tightly mown fairways & some lovely run off areas around the greens. Definitely a plotters golf course, lots of holes require placement from the tee to allow clear shots into the greens.

Amazing experience from the quality of the course to the hospitality of the kitchen and bar staff, will definitely recommend this course to friends

Course is in impeccable condition. Well done to all the green keepers and the artisans along with the work that goes behind the scenes to produce such a great course. Friendly staff and excellent facilities.

Cracking course. Not the longest but some great holes. I managed a good few pars which I was made up with. I got a bit confused with some of the tees and some are adjacent to each other but members pointed me in the right direction. Some good downhill drives and driveable par 4 which I nearly managed one of them. Would definitely return

Very attractive golf course with a variety of interesting, and testing, parkland holes. Good views and well presented. Friendly staff. Very close to the M6 motorway.

Very good pitch and putt course, has plenty of features and challenges that will bring you back playing it again and again - no two rounds are the same. Generally has been well maintained and a few holes now have new teeing off mats however some need replacing.

Great course. Fantastic views some really good holes. Ended up with a birdie and five pars. Shot under 100 for the first time. Only negative play was really slow. Got stuck behind two four balls and I was on my own. Some daunting tee shots but a great challenge

Me and My 2 boys contacted them to play when we travelled to Manchester from Boston in May 2023. They were very helpful and nice. Rental clubs were available, and course was a fun change from local Boston courses. Staff was great..... Recommend for a fun day.

I’ve played here a lot over the years and the new guys running it have got it into the best condition I’ve ever seen it. Quite hilly and a lot of blind shots but if you’re hitting it straight it’s not a problem. Some excellent holes and some amazing views. One of the best courses in the north west without a doubt.

A lovely golf course and very challenging, not long, but very tricky, you have to be very straight or you are in trouble. A 180 yd club will be perfect for most holes as the fairways will do the rest. Majority of bunkers are GUR but the greens are very good. Gentlemen called Paul in the pro shop was an absolute gentlemen and pleasure to meet, he could not do enough for me. I will be revisiting.

Prestwich golf club is a inner city parkland course that you can complete in just over 3hrs offering a good challenge with a nice club house and friendly members

Born and bred on this golf course, cannot reckonise any hole having said that it was 60 yrs ago. It was 1964 when I became a junior member...many famous faces I remember from coronation Street cast especially Eddie Shah who famously started up his own tabloid. Those were happy days and Eddie if you're still out there, give us a bell cos when you missed your shot on the seventh hole and you threw your brand new aluminum shafts into the tree, I didn't think you would go back a climb a tree at ur age

Held our funeral wake on Friday for my father in law.. Prestwich staff were superb and very attentive and the food was excellent and reasonable. Can highly recommend for any type of venue hire
