We liked the food. Service was okay. Vibes were good. Just one hiccup - we reserved a table for dinner way in advance and were cramped in a small corner while the next table had a bigger group (around 7 persons seated at a 4-person table) just having drinks. Not surprisingly, they were pretty loud in conversing. We were not comfortable with this setting and after a short while, requested to switch to another table. The staff was courteous and helped us look into that. Fortunately there was one spare and more spacious table available in another section of the pub and we were able to better enjoy our dinner eventually. I wish they could be more thoughtful when they were assigning table for guests.

Camping at Freshwater holiday park, a 20 minute walk to visit this gem of a place. Busy and bustling restaurant, great menu, food was outstanding and the service was great too. Dog friendly aswell, all in all, will definitely be returning soon.

This is a well loved beach cafe which has beautiful scenic views, it is very popular and rightly so. The menu is mainly fish and seafood dishes. However, they do a smashing full English breakfast up to 11.30 am. I will post pics. This dog friendly beach cafe has a carpark close by, but if you choose to walk along the cliff top path or the lower paths, you will walk within the most beautiful scenery. This is a totally table service venue, so once you are seated, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the view. Prices are reasonable.

Huge muscles in a nicely balanced blue cheese cream sauce. The fish chowder was also lovely, great tasting fish and fresh veg. We enjoyed on a wet and windy day, outside seating had heaters which warmed us up nicely. Would recommend after a walk.

Came here today, after walking from our campsite at Graston Copse through Burton Bradstock village. A warm welcome by a member of staff & shown to our outside table for 4 with 3 dogs. Our waitress took our drinks order & returned after a few minutes to take our food order. She was very friendly and attentive, giving time for a chat despite being extremely busy. Wait for our food was minimal and when it arrived it was hot, tasty & well presented. Back ground music was pleasant, giving the Mediterranean feeling due to the sunshine. Wouldn't hesitate in returning if we are in the area again .... thank you.

We arrived at 11.20, just in time to order breakfast. We were lucky to get the table on the edge of the 'tent' overlooking the beach. Despite being quite busy we received very efficient service. The food arrived within 15- 20 min, then our hot drinks. We had 3 x full English and egg Benedict on muffin with bacon. Everyone enjoyed it. The only nuisance were a few wasps but not a lot to spoil our experience.

A lovely, simple, campsite. This campsite is relatively basic but with all you need. Warm showers, nice toilets and a very chilled and trusting feel from the owner Glynn, who's a very personable guy and was extremely helpful and kindly allowed the 6 of us to camp up in the woods as we were looking for a bit more of a nature camp. . We had to chop a bit of long grass, to prepare the area but it was well worth it. It was such a lovely secluded spot and we had a fine time around the camp fire under a beautiful starry sky. We certainly plan to do it again next year! Cheers Glynn

Lovely friendly owner, wonderful position in the countryside, fabulous renovated original Showman's Wagon accommodation, take your horse here on holiday with you.
Rating: 5 / 5
We had a lovely 3 nights in the newly restored Showman's wagon. It was very relaxing, the little wood burner in the living area was great, we didn't use the one in the kitchen as we cooked our food on the fire pit outside or on our own camping stove. Easy access to Shaftesbury for food supplies. It was very quiet and peaceful, just what we needed. We would go again.

Rating: 4.4 (2303) Price Level:
Beautiful place to go for a stroll with much of the area covered by a forest canopy. Lovely little café which was reasonably priced with an amazing outlook onto the lake. Took a pram with my newborn with a fairly accessible route around the Blue Poole. Many of the other trails have steps to access so will use a baby carrier next time.

Lovely scenic spot that's well worth the visit. Very relaxing and pretty. Nice place for family, kids, dogs or just pleasant walk round on your own. Cheerful, friendly and helpful guy in ticket office and pleasant staff in cafe. Thoroughly enjoyed the place. Nice little plant shop, Ice cream shop and gift shop. Easy access loos. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Lovely place for a day out. Walks were clear and easy to stroll. The rope bridge was great fun. The views across the pool are stunning in a number of viewpoints. I guess when the azaleas are flowering it is absolutely beautiful. There's a nice cafe and lovely gift shop. I only wish we had visited before but will be back again before long

Went there as part of a new trail race and a great location. The pool is still blue all year so never disappointed, but obviously better when weather is clear. Great walks around. Good cafe. Well family priced.

Lovely little place for plane spotting. We went while it was quite overcast, but the clouds cleared and off went the spitfire! Food was absolutely delicious and the staff were lovely. They allowed us to shelter inside on our table for 45 minutes before our booking was due to start. Will be visiting again when the weather is a little warmer to enjoy a crispy pint while watching the planes!

I went with a large group who arrived at varying times so service was difficult to judge. However, the young lady who took our orders was charming, good humoured and helpful. Food was excellent, only choice for veggie or vegan was jackfruit. The meat, pork or beef was excellent, as was the Ritchie beer, but as that remains a personal choice you'll have to try it to see. Yes I will go again.
Rating: 4 / 5
We didn't eat today so can't rate the food. Richie Beer excellent. The coffee from the outside cabin, pretty awful, we poured ours away. McDonalds coffee better... hopefully the coffee in the main restaurant was properly prepared and significantly better. Great day for Spitfire action.
Rating: 4 / 5
Popular breakfast spot. Unfortunately the service is haphazard and range of options extremely limited. My friend ordered a bacon and sausage roll and was served a bacon and egg roll. He sent it back and was then served a sausage and egg roll. In frustration he ate it because we were short of time.

My first visit since Guy Ritchie took the Airfield over. The restaurant area has been enlarged and has full glazing from end to end giving panoramic views towards Shaftsbury. The interior is not cramped in any way although it was busy. One has good viewing of aircraft taking off and landing. Outside are plenty of picnic tables so if the weather is good you can sit outside if you want. I had lunch and it was really good. Pulled smoked beef in a brioche bun. Apparently there are only 3 of these 'smokers' in Europe, and they're worth every penny. Not a good menu if you're vegan or veggy. I tried one of Guy's own beers and it was really good. We were in a large party who arrived at different times so I can't say too much about service times, but I had no complaints. The girl who looked after our tables was good humoured, patient and helpful. I shall definitely go back.

Went in for food at the bar, and we really enjoyed it!!! The food was simple but delicious and we will 100% be going back. The waitress was also very knowledgeable with information regarding what could be eaten by a celiac in our group. It also had an amazing country pub feel that felt so welcoming and cozy x ❤️

Absolutely perfect! There for my wife’s 50th birthday. Fantastic room, fantastic service and fantastic food. Great central location.

Our first time visit to Shaftesbury and the Grosvenor Arms hotel. Very impressed with both – for the same reasons …... relaxed, welcoming and informal. In the hotel specifically it seemed that the staff were always wanting to “go the extra mile” to make sure we felt at home. The furnishings – and the bedrooms – are all comfortable, well chosen and empathetic to the age of the building. The only meals we had were breakfasts – and these were excellent. Our one concern before arrival – its location right in the centre of a potentially-noisy town – was completely unnecessary. We had a room overlooking the street and it was sufficiently quiet for us to have the window open at night. So, thank you Grosvenor Arms – and Shaftesbury! A great visit.

Wednesday night is burger night! I haven’t been to the brewers in ages, but certainly was not disappointed. 2x Quality burgers and chips for the ridiculous price of £18. Lovely burger and the chips were great. Friendly staff, good service, decent real ale, we will definitely be back.

Had lunch here whilst visiting the famous Gold Hill. Had a lovely lunch with large portions. The condiments were in huge portions too although we didn't partake. The ploughman's was especially large and extremely good value. Apparently the beer selection was good too. I stuck to cider which was standard keg stuff.

Met friends here for lunch, was a bit apprehensive as we had read some mixed reviews, turned out they were wrong. The food was lovely, the lady running the bar and food service was very pleasant and it was an altogether enjoyable experience. We will be coming back again. Thank you

We had a wonderful meal here last night! The pie night was a hit, gluten free Brie and cranberry was one of the best pieces of food I’ve tasted! Really cosy atmosphere and all round great pub! The steak and Guinness was also great! Lovely and friendly staff. Clearly marked gluten free food so felt safe to eat here.

Led a motorcycle group ride from Solent area to Somerset / Dorset, with a Sunday lunch stop at the Half Moon, Shaftesbury. 11 of us for lunch and we'd booked ahead so we had tables put together ready for us. Arriving about 1pm, the place was busy. We were fortunate to be served by a lovely young lady, Alyssa. Excellent customer service. She was charming - with an Essex-meets-Somerset type of accent - and confident; and nothing seemed to phase her, not even the items that weren't available on the menu or the pace of the kitchen. Clearly best to go for the carvery, but not everyone who has an evening meal planned wants that at lunchtime.
