An inspiring and highly welcoming place! We took in some fossils we had found that day and ended up spending 45 minutes talking to the wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable Anna. A very well curated collection, with the bonus of a fairly priced gift shop. Will definitely be back!

Absolutely beautiful place to visit! The beach isn't very good if you have mobility problems as its made up of large stones, especially at the top of the beach. Got a couple of cracking little shops there and a nice little cafe. Well recommend 👌

Wow, what a location. I knew this was going to be popular but I didn't expect it to be as popular as it was. Found parking quite easy, first couple of car parks were full, found one right down the bottom in what looks like an overflow. This had plenty of spaces thankfully. Beach and heritage centre were amazing. So much to see and learn about. Only a short visit this time due to also wanting to visit Lyme Regis the same day but we will be back again.

Went for the fossil hunting morning group tour and it was incredible, our guides were knowledgeable, super friendly and helped is make the most of the window of time we had while the tide was low. We got lucky with the weather and came out with some great memories from that morning.

Called in for lunch whilst on holiday, well situated about 15 minutes from Lyme Regis, on major road. Very warm welcome, friendly staff. Good choice on menu , including specials board. Nice choice of local beers. Amazing deserts! Very reasonably priced. Nice beer garden outside. Dogs welcome too.

On holiday in local area. Wanted a meal out on our first day. You never know what you're going to get with a pub but we struck gold with this one. Had the Sunday roast and it was excellent. Really tasty and good value. Puddings were equally yummy. Staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking. Going back for our last night meal.

Food was brilliant- good honest food and very tasty! Three kids were happy - that’s great! Food was hot, tasty and well portioned. Please go here - if it were closer to home, we would be going a lot more!

Well, this place was a pleasant surprise. Just on the seafront you might walk past it, but that would be a mistake. We stopped here for lunch half way through a 19 mile walk (as part of a 3 days charity walk). Plenty of hungry mouths! The joy of this place and USP is the Greek chef. Home made Moussaka and other Greek specialties as good as you will get anywhere (including in Greece). I had the Moussaka. A fine Moussaka is a joy to behold, whereas a poor one is worth avoiding. This was one of the best (if not THE best) I have ever had. Not just hyperbole. The service was excellent and there was a good selection of drinks on tap. I couldn't believe it. I would come back just for the Moussaka.

Welcoming and helpful staff. Great food. Muscles were great. Solid fish and chips. But the black bream fillet was stunning. Sheltered seating out the front. We will be back (5yo and two adults.)

Lovely place with good choice of meals and drinks. We had crab salad £19 each and had some cider to go with it. It can get quite busy. Easy access to toilets, but nice outside seating area.

Really enjoyed our meal here. The whole pub felt safe and welcoming despite covid, Staff very attentive, friendly and not overbearing. Food was perfect well presented and priced fairly. Was really impressed with my fish pie which was very fresh tasting. Asked for no dressing on salad and that was how it came. Very clean interior. Only downside was drinks were a bit pricey but we were only having one each so overall price was as expected including the meal. Recommended.

Our favourite pub in Lyme Regis, been coming here for 20+ years, from when our children were very young. Food has always been great, but I think it's probably best ever now. The Greek food is fantastic. This time we had the vegetarian meze with the souvlaki (pork and chicken). All perfectly prepared, and the chips are just amazing. Also a very nice bottle of white wine to wash it down. We'll be back again and again!

Cobb Arms

Marine Parade, Lyme Regis DT7 3JF, UK | Pub
P: 01297 443242

Rating: 4.2 (1292) Price Level:

Had a lovely stay at the Cobb Arms for 3 nights. The rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Toni, Gary and the staff were friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to help. The drinks were reasonably priced for the location on the front, but best of all was the food. My wife is a coeliac but she had enough choice on the menu, that she was able to have, that was gluten free. The fish and chips that she had, were the best she had tasted, with the batter being crispy like normal batter. The full English breakfast was gluten free too and was lovely. Would definitely recommend the Cobb arms for a stay, or just to pop in for a meal on your holiday. So a big thank you to Toni, Gary and all the staff for a lovely break and hope to see you all in the future.

Great food and friendly staff! We accidentally left a bag behind when he left but a quick phone call and they held it safe for us behind the bar until we could get back. The sardines on the specials menu were massive and an easy recommendation as well as every other meal there. And dog friendly as well!

Went to the Cobb Arms for Sunday lunch with our pals and their 2 strapping teenage lads in the naughty corner of the rest. Superb choice of food, nothing too much trouble. Rob and his staff were terrific, warm and friendly/smiley. Very pleased indeed with the quality, quantity and attention to detail on our plates. I had the scollops and prawns on sewers with crisp salad for my main. The restaurant also has interiors for sale, especially up on the walls pictures, posters, lamps etc, so if you see anything you fancy, you can buy it. #happydays

We were a large table of 10 + 2 dogs and we were looked after by Cali from Central Coast, Australia!! She was amazing from start to finish. There was nothing too much trouble and she was so engaging, even managed to get our autistic son to talk to her (which never happens). The food , location and venue were all absolutely beautiful and will become a family favourite now thanks to Cali’s incredible service! 10/10 - Thank you so much & Happy Anniversary Cali xxx

5* for a nice pub with good beer and a pleasant lunch. Not sure about the "Gastropub" description, the food was nice enough as pub food, but hardly a gastronomic experience. Brilliant location, just a few steps away from the sea and also the excellent Museum.

Our second visit and we weren’t disappointed l! We received a very warm welcome on arrival and the staff were lovely throughout our stay. The bedrooms are a great size and very tastefully decorated. Lovely complementary goodies in the fridge, a Dyson hairdryer, fabulous toiletries and so much more. We had our dog with us and he was made to feel most welcome too. The food was nice and breakfast was plentiful. The hotel is in a perfect location opposite the beach with car parks close to hand.

Went in on a whim to get some lunch as it looked nice. The food was very tasty and the portion size was really good. The price was cheaper then expecting considering it is in the heart of Lyme Regis. The waitress was lovely and had was very kind and friendly personality. I had a roast which was beautifully cooked and my partner had the fish and chips, fish was massive, cooked brilliant as well, the chips perfect crunch and fluffy potatoes. All round great experience. We will come back when we visit Lyme again.

Guys, you really gotta try this wonderful hostelry - it is superb!! We have walked past it time and time again over the years, God knows why, but this time we went in and we were certainly not disappointed - the inviting smell of good food being cooked, the even more inviting log fire, and the warmest of welcomes from the bar staff. While our food order was being prepared I had a quick look around and the place oozes history and charm by the bucketload. There are rooms here too but I didn't see any of those so it would be inappropriate to comment on those. However, the food was very prompt in arriving and it was of exemplary quality and portion size, piping hot and VERY tasty!! They keep a good cellar here too, lots of choice of beers, ales & spirits, so in that respect it ticks all the boxes!! I cannot for the life of me understand why we haven't been here before as we've missed so much - but, be assured this is our go to place to eat in Lyme Regis from here on in!! A word to the wise, we got lucky, we arrived at 12.15 and it was quite quiet then but by 1pm the place was totally rammed, no tables left anywhere and there are 3 different dining areas, all packed! The point being if you want to enjoy what this place has to offer food wise, especially at weekends, please book in advance otherwise you could well miss out!!

A wonderful night spent here. Watching the white waves and listening to the gusts of Storm Bert, from our balcony. Excellent service, spotlessly clean room and fantastic food. Super comfy bed and gorgeous bathroom. We ate in the bar as the restaurant was full and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend the fillet steak and the Hake. Can’t wait to eat here again and stay for that matter! Breakfast was lovely too, with great service. We’ll be back xx

We called in for breakfast on a blustery December Sunday morning. The staff were friendly, cheerful and accommodating (unlike me on a Sunday!). Breakfast was excellent, and all from local suppliers. Nestled right by the sea, The Lyme Bay has mastered the art of combining incredible food with an unforgettable atmosphere. The vibe is warm, relaxed, and inviting. The staff is not only friendly but incredibly attentive - striking the perfect balance of being present without hovering. The outdoor terrace boasts an unobstructed view of the sea. Space heaters and a cozy wood fire pit add to the experience. The Lyme Bay goes above and beyond with thoughtful touches like blankets and hot water bottles, so even a chilly day or evening can be enjoyed in comfort. The music, a well-curated mix that suits the setting, just adds to the overall great vibe. The menu caters to all, with fantastic vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Their gluten-free fish and chips and in-house-made fish fingers never disappoint, and dietary restrictions don’t mean compromising on quality or flavor. Each dish is crafted with care, and you simply can’t go wrong, no matter what you choose. Whether you’re wanting a leisurely breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a drink by the fire, The Lyme Bay will leave you planning your next visit before you’ve even finished your meal.

Came here on a weekend. I was craving for a chippy. So we went here. The waiting time was roughly 2-3 minutes. We were seated outside ( a bar-like table and chair). The view is good, you can see the sea, and also the adjacent restaurant as well. We waited for around 30 minutes for our food to be served (but that was normal since it was really busy at that time). The food came. Fish and chips. The fish was good, it was soft and the coating is crispy- it did not have the aftertaste of oil compared to some chippy I have tried. The garden peas have a bit of flavour(mint) and the chips were crispy and really tasty and they have a homemade tartar sauce as well, but overall food is great. I gave 4 because I know there are still room for improvement. The staff were accommodating as well despite all the busyness.

The staff and the atmosphere at the Lyme Bay was great. Staff made real effort to make us feel welcome and to make sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast menu was limited but quality of food was great. Eggs Benedict are especially great. The only thing to mention that wasn’t great was the price. £40 for breakfast for two is a lot. If you get over this, the rest is great.

Charmouth Fish Bar

Rating: 4.4 (939) Price Level:

Me and my family were on holiday a fortnight ago and visiting Charmouth for the day. We’d had lunch at Charmouth Fish Bar years ago and was pleased that it was still there to eat at. It wasn’t a busy day, so we were able to sit outside on the benches and eat in a nice, quiet peaceful neighbourhood. Charmouth Fish Bar is a small takeaway with little space to dine in, but the staff were very hardworking, professional and friendly, and the establishment was very clean & hygienic. The service was excellent, and the food was fabulous as I remember it being. My fish & chips were cooked beautifully. Not in the least bit greasy, nicely crisp batter and great taste, with lovely gravy on the side. We were all very happy with our food and will gladly come again next time we visit Charmouth. Thank you very much! Highly recommended!

We came here on a whim and weren’t disappointed. Ordered on a McDonalds type screen (you can order at the counter too) and waited around 30 mins for our food. Understandable due to being unstaffed (as a sign posted in the shop itself) and being a lovely warm evening. The chips were crispy and delicious along with cod bites, battered sausage and curry sauce. At time of ordering you request salt and vinegar. I did go back and get extra as I couldn’t taste it-but I do usually have them swimming! 😆Would definitely visit again if I’m ever back in Charmouth! 10/10.
