I first met Steve in March 2021, at a time when my front garden had suffered neglect and was quite bare due to the felling of an enormous copper beech tree that had to be taken down because it was causing subsidence next door (see photo attached). The stump and roots had been left, and they caused additional issues to be dealt with. I didn’t have to wait long before Steve came over to discuss my requirements, which he completely took into consideration. I had a water fountain which had never worked, but this was renovated and retained as a central feature, with pathways leading off it towards two benches in the corners. Steve employed and supervised two people who did a great job of laying down topsoil, then all the hard landscaping, including the electricals. Everything was carried out reliably with attention to detail. The plants chosen and ordered for me are perennial and low maintenance; they provide colour and interest all year round and have totally transformed this small space, which fronts onto a private road and is opposite the dental surgery where my husband (deceased) had his practice for several years. I turned it into a memorial garden for him, and the benches are available for everyone at the dental surgery, whenever there is time for them to sit outside and enjoy this garden – like an outdoor waiting room for patients. The design and plants receive much admiration and praise, even from passersby. I couldn’t be happier!

My experience of Steve’s advice in choosing the planting scheme for our garden was simply excellent in every way. We had recently had our garden landscaped & I needed the expertise of Steve’s knowledge of what to plant & how best to group plants taking into account the soil & best site for the plants. The garden palette of ideas for planting that Steve provided & ideas of things he thought would work well in the different areas of the garden has worked perfectly. Steve & I then spent a day planting in May. We are now about to enjoy a second bloom of roses & relaxing in our lovely garden. Next year I will definitely call on Steve again when we are ready to plant out the other bed. Now we are enjoying seeing what we planted this season flourish.

We got a big south facing garden but not a lot of ideas what to do with it. Steve’s advice, written up report and colour palette is just what we needed. We now have a clear plan for 6 different zones in our garden (from all day sun to small and constant shady places) including number of plants to get for each zone with a selection of plants to choose from.
