Visited Sherborne last weekend with my mum her sausage dog and my 4month old daughter , had a lovely day and it came to my daughter needing her bottle so we popped into Nero after finding it hard to get into other cafes with the pram (first time mum here ) we weren’t sure if the dog was allowed so mum hovered and I went in it was really busy long line busy Saturday lunchtime , I was feeling anxious as I knew my little one needed feeding and I thought we might not get in , I could see the guys on the counter where super busy so I kinda stood bewildered with the pram lol a member of staff walked by and I asked if the dog was allowed in and he was super friendly smiled and said Yh of course , he then proceeded to recommend a new sandwich too me as I couldn’t decide all while he was restocking the fridge on a busy lunchtime , so great got to the counter a young guy was friendly and welcoming actually ducked while making coffee so I could see the menu bless him took our order and without missing a beat carried our drinks over to our table for us as I had the baby and mum had full hands with shopping and a very over friendly dascuhund 😂 I was able to feed my daughter without worrying in a comfy armchair he bought our food over , made a fuss of the dog was super sweet and genuine our coffee and food where delicious - love the new pistachio coffee and cake ! We had a lovely relaxing lunch baby was fed , had a lovely atmosphere of friends having lunch and family’s in with their little ones looking at the pretty Xmas tree , which may I add the baubles throughly entrained my daughter while we waited to use … the baby change (hallelujah! ) and as we left the guys said Thankyou , bye , have a gd day etc , honestly the loveliest most helpful staff I’ve experienced since having my daughter and a lovely lunch well one guys I hope they give u a bonus or a blimmin good Xmas party ! Thanks for helping this new mum out !

Had lunch here and it was excellent! The carrot cake and chai tea are 5* worthy alone; everything else is a bonus! Décor is fabulous, as is the location. Service was a little slow but it's August and expected tbh... Staff really friendly

Excellent breakfast here. Not the cheapest but worth it. First time for me not the last. Staff excellent and very friendly

went for a birthday meal food was amazing, decor was eccentric, staff were friendly and lovely to speak to the food did take a while to arrive due to issues in the kitchen on the day but the staff apologised and explained this seeing the animals in the fields outside after the meal was a nice surprise overall highly recommend

Lovely ambience. Food was well portioned. Food was average. Wings could be seasoned better. The fish batter was crispy. Pulled pork sandwich was good.

What an amazing hotel. Top marks to all the staff who are very professional, helpful and friendly. Fantastic room with a kitchenette which makes life so much easier. A great selection for breakfast, including cooked and cold options. Definitely deserves the five stars.

Fantasies couple of days. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Service was impeccable, and they even made up a small plate for me as I don't eat much. The food is amazing, and the chef is very talented. The bed was very comfy and the rooms were beautifully decorated . Had the most amazing massage in the spa, which was very inviting and relaxing. Definitely recommended. The receptionist was very friendly and welcomed any feedback we had. 5 stars.

This was my first visit and I was very impressed. Lovely decor, very light and airy. Comfortable chairs Nd lots of room on the tables. I had a full English breakfast which was fabulous and hot! We went for my son's birthday and when the server realised he brought out some muffins with 'Happy Birthday' written in chocolate on the plate which was a lovely touch. The service was excellent, the young man was really friendly and helpful as was the receptionist when we arrived. We had my three year old Granddaughter with us and they were very accommodating, we could choose anything from the breakfast menu in a child size portion. I will definitely visit again and recommend.

I’ve visited this hotel many times, and it’s always a treat. The food is simply delicious – every meal feels crafted with care. The spa offers a wonderful range of treatments that leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, perfect for a bit of pampering. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, making it easy to settle in and relax. Plus, it’s dog-friendly, which makes it a perfect getaway for the whole family, furry friends included! The best part, though, is the staff – they are so helpful and welcoming, always going the extra mile to make every stay feel special. Highly recommended!

The Walled Garden
New Rd, Sherborne DT9 5NR, UK | Cafe P: 01935 814345
Rating: 4.2 (393) Price Level:
Loved the Christmas shopping and the garden centre. It was just a shame the service was so slow for two coffees and two cheese scones warmed. Coffees eventually turned up and only one cold cheese scone. It had taken so long to come that they only one scone was left. Lots when we ordered. My friend then ordered a different piece of cake, time went on, and that that we had drunk our coffee, then only one scone arrived cold. as they had sold out because it had taken so long. My friend chose a piece of cake which didn't turn up, they'd forgotten.. Had to go back to the desk to ask again for the cake. It was all so disjointed. My friend had to sit and eat her cake on its own because our coffees and my cheese scone were long gone I will try going back when it's not so busy and give them one more try. It rather spoilt our day as it was such a mix up. Even my coffee was Luke warm ! I didn't like to ask my friend if her coffee was hot.

This was a lovely place to visit after going around the gardens of Sherborne Castle, there is also a garden centre here, the food we had was very fresh and tasty

Staff were lovely and the food options were great! The vegan brekkie was fab! We are in the conservatory as it was too hot outside without my shade but I’d definitely come back. The food was great and the garden centre has lots of lovely stuff too!

The Udder Farm Shop

A huge thank you to Jude for all her care and attention to detail in putting together our order of 15 Christmas Hampers as gifts for our staff. Top quality products, beautifully displayed. Very grateful. Hope to be back next year.
Rating: 5 / 5
A huge, varied menu with very tasty, generous portions of food in a nice setting. A bit too easy to spend quite a lot of money! Great location with children when the weather is ok as there's a big field with football goals and some play equipment.
Rating: 5 / 5
I could have spent endless hours pouring over everything in the shop. It’s a beauty to behold in the eyes of an American. There are assortments of wonderful pastries, cakes, cookies and breads. All types of condiments and sauces. An extensive meat counter with varieties of meat and fish (I regret to say my sausage and bacon from there were immediately seized upon my return to the US). Of course there are cheeses, spreads, pate and a great frozen section of many items including ready meals. The staff was friendly and the items I was able to enjoy (like the smoked trout terrine and a steak & kidney pie) were absolutely amazing
Rating: 4 / 5
Great experience as a place, but also in the restaurant and in the store I would like to find things of very good quality, not just the basic one. The bread for breakfast can be one from a local bakery not a frozen baguette or the store could also sell organic milk in cartons not in plastic bottle or a yogurt in a jar not just plastic buckets...etc. Overall it was good with skilled and kind staff.
Rating: 5 / 5
Great farm shop and very good restaurant, but has gotten incredibly busy. The farm shop is excellent, with a great butcher's counter and great selection of fruit & veg, as well as lots of posh nibbles. The restaurant is very reliable, decent food and good service. The only downside is that, with the large additional seating area they added to the restaurant, the whole place can get very busy. On a Saturday lunchtime we were lucky to snag the very last parking spot left in both the main and the *overflow* car parks.

Oliver's

Rating: 4.4 (283) Price Level:
Perfect day out with our grandson was made even more special by the beautiful food and lovely staff at Olivers. The clean counter was packed with fresh patisseries and we were pleased to see a selection of hot savoury food too because we were all hungry. The food was piping hot and I ordered egg salad/bacon on my jacket potato which was light and tasty and most importantly, the potato was not soggy and limp, but browned with a baked taste! The pecan slice was the best I have EVER eaten! Buttery shortbread and large, fresh pecans dripping in sauce! Extremely friendly staff - we will definitely go back.
Rating: 5 / 5
Lovely little cafe (though there's much more space in the back) with fresh homemade bakes. I can recommend the caramel shortbread! They have many options also for lunch.

The Queens Arms
The Queens Arms, Corton Denham, Sherborne DT9 4LR, UK | Pub P: 01963 220317
Rating: 4.4 (387) Price Level:
A little disappointed. We have been diners here on several occasions and up to now have been impressed by the menu and the service. On this occasion their summer Sunday lunch menu was fine and the lamb was excellent but the service was not up to scratch. We were a family of five, the pub was nearly empty when we arrived, staff were around but inattentive. Each time we had to get up and ask for a menu (drinks, food child’s and main), ask whether we could order a drink and ask if we could order our meal. Maybe it was one of those days, but we hope that next time we have a better experience.

Don't normally do reviews but felt the need to for this place. Absolutely fantastic! Very nice pub/restaurant area. Bedroom was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. All the staff were very friendly but Jess in particular was very welcoming at check in and attentive/helpful during dinner. The food was brilliant, including the little extras like the bread and chilli butter. Location is very secluded - be careful on the narrow lanes - not the hotel's fault at all, just be prepared to pull in on the single track!

The Queen’s Arms in Corton Denham is a charming pub—great beer, fantastic food (when it arrives), and a barman who was absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the head waitress, who let the side down in spectacular fashion. We ordered food at 10 past 8, and my steak didn’t arrive until 9.30. By then, I’d eaten so much bread to fill the void I was worried I’d have to roll myself home. When I politely raised the delay, she wasn’t having any of it. No apology, no acknowledgment—just denial. And when I suggested we shouldn’t have to pay, she flat-out refused. Denial isn’t just a river in Africa, it seems—it’s also on the menu here. Even though this was a poor experience, the Queen’s Arms is still a fantastic place, and I’ll be back. It’s a lovely pub with a lot to offer, and I look forward to giving it another chance and hopefully enjoying the meal it’s clearly capable of serving.

Had a wonderful evening meal in a group of 14. In a lovely side room setting with a roaring fire. The staff were very attentive and focussed on our enjoyment. Great food, well presented. I also really valued the quality of the table cloth, napkins and cutlery. Looking forward to eating here again

The Blue Pool

Rating: 4.4 (2303) Price Level:
Beautiful place to go for a stroll with much of the area covered by a forest canopy. Lovely little café which was reasonably priced with an amazing outlook onto the lake. Took a pram with my newborn with a fairly accessible route around the Blue Poole. Many of the other trails have steps to access so will use a baby carrier next time.
Rating: 5 / 5
Lovely place for a day out. Walks were clear and easy to stroll. The rope bridge was great fun. The views across the pool are stunning in a number of viewpoints. I guess when the azaleas are flowering it is absolutely beautiful. There's a nice cafe and lovely gift shop. I only wish we had visited before but will be back again before long

Went there as part of a new trail race and a great location. The pool is still blue all year so never disappointed, but obviously better when weather is clear. Great walks around. Good cafe. Well family priced.

Lovely scenic spot that's well worth the visit. Very relaxing and pretty. Nice place for family, kids, dogs or just pleasant walk round on your own. Cheerful, friendly and helpful guy in ticket office and pleasant staff in cafe. Thoroughly enjoyed the place. Nice little plant shop, Ice cream shop and gift shop. Easy access loos. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Lovely little cafe on the main high street that offers a wide selection dishes of top quality. The risotto and hake dishes were superb and the panacotta desert was very yummy indeed! Excellent quality produce and would highly recommend.

Firstly the food is always delicious, lemon cake to die for and the service is always fabulous and friendly. Myself and my teen daughter have been in quite a few times recently with our puppy and the staff are always lovely and attentive. Today I had an unfortunate experience with another customer, our puppy got a bit upset when my daughter went to the toilet and was whimpering and barked a few times. I tried my best to comfort him and calm him down and turned to the table behind me to apologise and the lady was extremely rude and told me I shouldn’t be in a cafe with the puppy then continued to moan and grumble about it to her husband so that I could hear. Having had a bad few days and being unwell, I got quite upset and was going to leave because I was feeling so anxious. The staff came over to me and were really lovely and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and found us another table, and checked on me multiple times to make sure I was okay and comfort me. So thank you to the staff, we will be back, along with Milo the puppy.

I have visited before but only for coffee . We had a fantastic lunch of monkfish parpadelle and also tuna melt with salad. Monkfish tasted delicious as did the tuna. The whole menu looked very inviting. It was difficult to choose! Really great value and very filling! Sat upstairs which was lovely and quiet and relaxed. It's an interesting old building too. Definitely a good choice if you are visiting Sherborne for any reason.

The BEST hollandaise sauce I have had in years, rich and creamy. I had almost written off eggs benedict as I was fed up with vinegary sauce and had all but decided I had imagined how yummy it was when I was a child. My faith is restored!! The staff were lovely and friendly too. Definitely a treasure!
