What can I say......stayed at 4 different places in last 10 days and this is exemplary!!!!! Absolutely fantastic from pub to room to breakfast. Staff were so friendly and nothing too much. I hesitated to post this because I want to make sure I can stay next time I'm heading for Dover đ€Ł

Stayed here the night before catching the euro shuttle. Great location, really nice room and the staff were fantastic. Fitted us in nicely for dinner which was served quickly considering it was a busy night. A hassle free pleasant stay which was made better by the lady's that ran the Bar/restaurant. Would recommend.

Quiet and peaceful place, close to the port of Dover. We have been there 3 times now, always nice to come back. Service for breakfast is super nice. Rooms are simple, but pretty and comfortable. We always love to come back. Even Netflix available
Rating: 5 / 5
Booked a table for a family meal as they welcome dogs in one part of the restaurant. 4 of us ate 4 different meals + a couple of starters. All were perfectly cooked and served up professionally by the young staff. The atmosphere was welcoming and cosy and the prices very competitive. We plan on returning soon.

Really surprised by this pub, excellent menu, superbly presented, not your usual 'pub grub'. Pretty well-kept sunny garden with plenty of seating. Great for couples, families and even large groups of friends. The large car park to the side makes this an ideal place for a stop at a traditional country pub. Will definitely be back.

TEN STARS for this place. Scone warm with butter and jam was out of this world. Hubby had eggs, bacon and toast. MOST FRIENDLY PEOPLE EVER. LOVED THIS PLACE

Lovely cafe, with garden and outdoor seating with friendly and fast service. Great for cakes, breakfast and coffees. Nice decoration indoors too
Rating: 5 / 5
The Best Coffee in Dover by a country mile. The staff here are great, friendly, and attentive, always ready to greet you with a smile. Whenever I visit, I always see a few familiar faces, indicative of the consistency of service. Could not recommend more. Food is simple Café food, done well (They stock Gluten Free Bread!), and there is a large selection of fresh pastries and cakes. Get in early because it fills up quickly, and if you visit in the summer, there's a beautiful, suntrap, courtyard garden out the back.

Always my go to place for the perfect latte and a bit of peace and quiet. Good is excellent as well I can thoroughly recommend the full English breakfast and the cakes !!

This is a lovely, lovely coffee shop, the atmosphere is warm, friendly and relaxed, the Manager/Owner and staff are calm and friendly and the place itself has 4 different seating areas - 2 are outside - the courtyard at the back is a delight. Super clean loos always a good indicator I feel - the whole place feels âlovedâ. Coffee is really good too ⊠but the cake! Wow! THE best gluten free Lemon Cake (also choc brownie) Iâve ever had and so fresh! The icing on the cake is that they are SO dog friendly .. we really enjoy going there and so does our Teddie! Thanks for the doggy treats too!

Old Dairy Cafe, Goodnestone Park
The St, Goodnestone, Canterbury CT3 1PL, UK | Restaurant P: 01304 695098
Rating: 4.7 (15) Price Level:
This afternoon my friends and I visited the old Dairy Cafe ,tucked away in the village of Goodnestone... and what an absolutely wonderful place this cafe is... First , a word of warning....I live just 8 miles away from this village ,but I still managed to "get lost"...but , once we all finally arrived at the Old Dairy ,we realised we had stumbled upon a true Gem.. The setting is beautiful, even on a cold winter's day...and we have promised ourselves to return again in the Spring and Summer .. The venue is quite delightful , we loved the bone china teacups on display....and those being used.. We decided to puck from the "light lunch " menu... I had cheddar cheese and ham sourdough toastie... reliably informed that the sourdough is called Kirsty and is from a 28 year old batch . The serving was extremely generous, absolutely delicious đ.. My friends settled with the Ploughman's lunch "with a little bit of everything".. I loved that our tea was served in proper tea pots with little china cups and saucers..... We then decided to complete our visit by experiencing the desert menu...after a lot of thought ,we three all chose the coffee and walnut cake đ°...I'm not sure how, but we all managed to eat every last crumb of the most delicious cake. Let's just say I definitely won't need any tea tonight. We will definitely visit the old Dairy again , a hidden delight .... wonderful food , and super staff ..

Lovely cafe with good coffee and lunch menu. We were a large group of walkers ready for refreshments and service was excellent at short notice. The toasty was nicely presented and everyone in the group were happy with it. Area can be abit noisy due to acoustics but not too disturbing. Staff are friendly and helpful
Rating: 5 / 5
We called for coffee and cakes and...what cakes! All freshly made and very tasty. Price compares well with the overpriced chains on the high street, although soft drinks too expensive at ÂŁ4 each. Nice courtyard with waiter service, rare in the UK but welcome. Inside dining also. Will return again to try lunch.ample car park. Not easy to find so be patient, it's worth a visit if you like a country drive

Little Farthingloe Farm
Folkestone Rd, Dover CT15 7AA, UK | Restaurant P: 01304 212040
Rating: 4.5 (569) Price Level:
Great family run farm kitchen, homemade pies and a good breakfast menu. Plenty of parking space and friendly staff. Make sure you book in advance. Delivery will be available soon.
Rating: 4 / 5
This is a lovely farm restaurant which caters to all. It's really family friendly and we've had no problem bringing a 4 month old along with us and feeling out of place. The servers are always friendly and there's a good choice of breakfast food on the menu. There's a very nice atmosphere outside when the weather is sunny. I'll definitely be back.
Rating: 5 / 5
I recently had the most delightful breakfast experience at Little Farthingloe Farm in Dover, and I couldn't wait to share it. The setting was idyllic, with the farm nestled amidst rolling hills and offering stunning views. The menu was a delicious blend of classic English breakfast favorites and fresh, seasonal ingredients. I opted for the Full English, and it was absolutely perfect. The eggs were cooked to perfection, the bacon was crispy, and the sausages were bursting with flavor. The toast was thick-cut and perfectly grilled, and the beans were creamy and satisfying. But what truly set Little Farthingloe Farm apart was the quality of the ingredients. It was clear that the farm takes great pride in sourcing local, fresh produce. The tomatoes were juicy and sweet, and the mushrooms had a rich, earthy flavor. To top it off, the service was impeccable. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure that every detail of our meal was perfect. If you're ever in Dover, I highly recommend visiting Little Farthingloe Farm for breakfast. It's a truly unforgettable experience that will leave you feeling full and satisfied.

I'm so glad we found this place on our holiday. Stopped in for some lunch and had a very tasty meal. I had the homemade steak chilli which was amazing. Our daughter had a perfect sized portion of pancakes, bacon and hash browns for a really reasonable price. 100% recommend, and sad we didn't have more time to come back again

Updown | Hotel & Restaurant
Updown Farmhouse, Updown Rd, Betteshanger, Deal CT14 0EF, UK | Restaurant P: 07842 244192
Rating: 4.6 (153) Price Level:
lovely short break close to DEAL, first time we had visited and glad we chose the Updown Hotel to stay. Easy parking and a nice place to just chill. We were in one of the cottages which was lovely. The staff were really nice and friendly although the chef could perhaps have taken a few happy pills as he didn't engage with any of the guests which is a shame. It was very busy in the restaurant for dinner which they must have been pleased about as it was a Wednesday evening. We would recommend it and would happily go there again and recommend to friends. Wednesday night was steak night but I made the wrong choice as mine was a bit chewy so I didn't do it justice.
Rating: 4 / 5
A genuinely friendly welcome and service can improve the dullest of venues, but Updown isn't dull. We visited for just one night and weren't able to take full advantage of the gardens, but appreciated the ambience that must be excellent in balmier times. The rooms were spotless and well supplied and we enjoyed the library and bar areas also; we just needed a longer stay to exploit all the facilites. Dinner was superb, as was the continental breakfast. One star was deducted (because there's no half) for additional service charges at food and drinks. Like another reviewer I'd prefer to tip separately.

Wow - what a treat! We stayed for the weekend at the gatehouse and enjoyed dinner on saturday night and a roast on Sunday. The food was great and the rooms / main house are beautiful and comfortable spaces. We were so well looked after by all the staff, in particular by Lia and the restaurant staff. We were visiting with our 1-year old who was made to feel very welcome. I would really recommend Updown for a getaway weekend - great for relaxing and recharging in the countryside, and enjoying some great food and cocktails. Thanks for having us - we will be back!

We had a wonderful stay at Updown Farmhouse on Sunday evening. We had Sunday lunch in the restaurant which was beyond amazing, totally recommend the roast lambđđ»there was also a magician called Josh who came round whilst we were eating, he was absolutely fantastic, so much so we took his card in case have an event, he would be a welcome addition to any function. We stayed in the farmhouse, room 3, which was beautiful, comfy bed and so spacious. Fabulous breakfast the next morning, a true 5âïž stay for us. Highly recommend to anyone. Thank you for making us so very welcome.

The Smugglers
High St, St Margaret's at Cliffe, Dover CT15 6AU, UK | Bar P: 01304 853404
Rating: 4.7 (568) Price Level:
I had an absolutely fantastic experience at The Smugglers pub and restaurant in St. Margaret's at Cliff! The food was delicious, and the Sunday Roast Special with its generous portions, fresh vegetables, and delightful horseradish, apple, and cranberry sauces left me positively surprised. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere inside made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The staff were truly brilliant - attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Even though it was a random choice during our journey from Dover to Deal, it turned out to be an excellent one. I can't wait to return when I'm in the area again, and I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Pre-booked table, atmosphere was great, very cosy place. Staff very friendly and helpful, took our drink orders after about 5 mins of sitting down, then another 10 mins for the menu orders to b taken. Food came out hot, plenty on the plate, very nice Sunday roast dinner, afters board had plenty of variety also. I would defo recommend this place people's .

This is a lovely pub with warm friendly staff and good food. Be aware that it gets very busy at weekends so youâll want to go there before six in to get a seat and should probably book for food. We didnât have that problem as we were there on a Tuesday but it was still popular. The portions are very generous and my fajitas and quesadillas were both tasty. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the tortillas were homemade. My cousins enjoyed his ribs (the sauce could have be richer or sweeter for his taste). Overall a really good experience made even nicer by the friendly chatty staff. Strongly recommended-would be very happy to go back.

We had a fabulous night enjoying the Christmas menu 18/12. 8 adults. All the food was perfect, hot, tasty and plenty. The staff were friendly, happy and it was a great evening and really good value. Will definitely go back
Rating: 5 / 5
This is a proper traditional English pub with fantastic staff, amazing food and a brilliant atmosphere. Great to hear about the story behind the pubs name with it being one of the last smuggler trading posts and being part of a secret tunnel network under the village. The Sunday roasts are traditionally cooked, decent quantity and full of flavour. The pizzas are clearly home made and again with fresh good quality ingredients. My wife and I are very particular about our steaks and have to say the fillet steak we had here was one of the best we have ever had and were both perfectly cooked. We normally try a few different pubs when on holiday, but tried this one on our first night and instantly booked to come back for other nights on our holiday. My wife, our two boys and myself would not hesitate to recommend this pub to anyone and will definitely be back the next time we visit this part of the country.

Django's Cafe Bar

Rating: 4.5 (437) Price Level:
Weâre a family of three who came on a Sunday morning for late brunch. As I mentioned to the service ladies, we loved their restaurant! The place is packed with collections of novelty/ relic and antique style of things and plants, even the black board with food of the day is a cute being. We did wait 30mins for food to arrive but the time we spent was worth while. Delicious delicates, thoughtfully displayed, worth the money, worth the photo post on Instagram, worth the like. Thank you guys!
Rating: 5 / 5
Really impressed with this place. A bistro feel but cafe prices, with tasty lunch and drinks for less than ÂŁ20. New local haunt in the town for us
Rating: 5 / 5
Finally managed to have a bite here after trying for ages. Luckily for us, the rain kept the numbers down from going outside on this day! Gotta say the wait was well worth it. Tasty food, decent sized portions, very customer friendly prices and polite staff in a great establishment (especially if you pop downstairs). I would describe the dishes we had but the photos should give you a clue! Most definitely going to visit again and hopefully catch it on a sunny day, at the right time.
Rating: 5 / 5
Amazing food at a really reasonable price. I had the tikka bread, girlfriend had the moules frites. Both were so good. Would recommend anyone to eat here if youâre in Folkestone, just a short walk up from the beach, through the old high street. Definitely coming back!

Amazing brunch & delicious coffee. We had a brunch sandwich & toastie. Served quickly. Loads of nice pastries & cakes on offer as well as coffee beans & equipment
Rating: 5 / 5
Vegetarian cafe. Breakfast was not huge but didn't leave me hungry, and was very well presented and tasty. Likewise with the coffee: a fairly small cup but extremely tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Rating: 4 / 5
This is a warm friendly place and the delicious coffee adds many points to it. Unfortunately, the curried lentil soup was far too spicy for us and the salad plate we didnât enjoy- strong flavours that clashed, in my opinion. But the cheese toastie was lovely, dessert was amazing and so was the coffee. Staff are helpful and very friendly.
Rating: 5 / 5
Hands down one of the best cafes I've been to. The mocha is AMAZING and the veggie breakfast and even the yoghurt bowl! Will need to visit again once in Deal. Thanks so much for two lovely experiences.

The Chance Inn
Dover Rd, Guston, Dover CT15 5EW, UK | Pub P: 01304 206162
Rating: 4.7 (326) Price Level:
My wife and I recently met friends for lunch here, and I'm so glad they recommended itâit was delightful. We both ordered the pot roast beef with creamy mash and vegetables, and it was fantastic. The beef was tender, falling apart effortlessly, while the mash had a rich, buttery flavor. For dessert, I tried the gypsy tart, which was light, melted in the mouth, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout our visit. This quaint pub, with its charming garden, is definitely worth a visit
Rating: 5 / 5
First time visiting the Chance and certainly won't be the last. Staff were very accommodating as we phoned and explained we were running late for our booking (sorry again!). Absolutely fantastic food, thoroughly enjoyed my burger and the kids loved the huge chips. Lovely, big portions but unfortunately no room for pudding on this occasion. Have recommended go family and we hope to all visit again soon... albeit on time! Thank you for a great lunch.

A lovely homely place. It's quite out of the way but worth the visit. We all had different dishes, and no-one was disappointed. Good portion sizes and worth the money. Cheesecake excellent. Will visit again when in the area.

Went today for a Sunday roast. Probably one of the nicest roasts I've had in a pub and reasonably priced too. Food cooked to perfection, with a good selection of vegetables. Unfortunately too full to manage a dessert

Rating: 4.5 (240) Price Level:
Had a weekend brunch at this nice cute cafe. Ordered the chicken and waffle. The presentation is lovely , and taste was great too. The only thing that caught me by surprise was that the waffle was quite soft and I thought it wasnât cooked through. I let the staff and cook know and turns out that they use a batter that makes softer waffles as opposed to the crispy one that we usually have. They were very nice and made a crispy version for me afterwards, thank you, will be back!
Rating: 5 / 5
Perfect place to spend some time getting good coffee and brunch during those in between times. Wonderful service, good access, tasty and health conscious food. Easy to access. Must visit! You can even buy some coffee beans or ground coffee. Only espresso based coffee drinks. Healthy juices and smoothies available
Rating: 4 / 5
Super enjoyable brunch with the family and dog! We really enjoy going to here, but it is not a place to go if you're in a rush... The service is notoriously very slow due to minimal staffing. Those of us that love the food and coffee accept this, but it's fair to say that it could be much speedier This place has a cosy, compact feel with windows around the majority of the perimeter, great for a bit of people watching... and is always full! Beautifully cooked food that ticks all boxes... Flavoursome, nicely served and filling. You won't leave feeling hungry

Really special little place and your order is made with care. I had fresh squeezed orange juice, a very smooth biscoff latte, and a avocado toast, all which made a great start to my Monday morning. Team was sweet and attentive.
