Even though the weather was against us , the wind was howling helping soak us we had a great day ! The course was in excellent condition. Some very difficult holes especially with the conditions I would definitely recommend having a round of golf here. The staff and members were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Definitely will be back for another round soon, hopefully without the sad weather.

Lovely course, nice wide fairways. Unfortunately the greens had just been vertidrained so putting was not easy. The views around the course are stunning.

Pins changed once a week, bunkers raked everyday, greens mowed everyday. Can get windy on top of ridgeway with lovely views over Weymouth to the south and Dorchester and north Dorset to the north. Friendly and welcoming members and staff. Home of the Ryder cup, go and have a great game of golf

Visited the clubhouse restaurant for a Sunday roast. Lovely friendly atmosphere and excellent customer service. The food was really good and arrived quickly to our table. Generous portion sizes and waitress looked after us throughout our meal. I would recommend booking a table in advance as it gets quite busy as very popular!! I'm definitely visiting again as I heard their full English breakfast is amazing. Highly Recommend.

We had originally planned to meet at a pub just down the Road, but it was closed . Another person in the car park recommended the golf club and we weren't disappointed. The menu was limited but sufficient. We were made very welcome by the person serving. The food was freshly prepared and jolly good, the others had a pudding which was also reported to be very good. We will be sure to visit again

Best Sunday roast by far. Excellent food and great value.

Course is in great condition ,fairways are good and greens are well looked after. The clubhouse serves some great food and has good beers on tap. The pro shop has some good stock and plenty of items. Staff are really friendly and helpful.

Well well what can I say about Ashley wood the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow its the first time I've played here and probably the best course in Dorset that doesn't require a handicap to attend. Had a quick bite before we started pleasantly surprised booked a buggy as I knew slope index would be high and man in pro shop matched the hot deal price as it's cheaper so value for money was great. Didn't get my best score but got a few pars thanks to the tattooed golf coach Harry shaws lessons at parley and the views here at blandford were picturesque and course is well looked after and we play quick with the buggy and slower group in front let us through pretty quick which was great only wished I lived closer to the course as I'd loved to be a member here but we'll worth the 45 minute drive so we'll be visiting again very soon.

Played it in early Oct., course was brilliant, ocean view on several of the holes, rolling hills, sheep & livestock in the backdrop. Course didn't really look that hard, but with the wind it sure did play that way. Lots of deep rough to avoid, a few stone walls to avoid, greens were in good condition. Will definitely want to play again when back over next year. Worth the trip.

Our first ever round at BWDGC, and I have to say that the course was fantastic. Spectacular views, some outstanding holes, especially the 6th, and it was in great condition. A very warm welcome from the staff on arrival and everybody could not have been friendlier. Everyone we spoke to during the day, including other golfers, made our visit most memorable. I would definitely recommend a trip to all golfers, and I hope to visit again someday.

Fantastic course in lovely condition, great fun playing in the wind and spectacular views at almost every hole

First visit, very impressed with the facilities, loved the 6th hole and the course location on the coast. The stunning weather enhanced our experience. The only negative is the risk to the general public/walkers.

Warm welcome, fab breakfast and service (we’ll forget the coffee spillage lol). Great course in excellent condition, tight fairways with some challenging par 3s, the signature 8th is great! Greens ran well and are all challenging in various degrees. And what about the views. A gem of a course, for £30… bargain! Will return!

Such a lovely golf club, came here to practice our swing (not very experienced golfers). The range is beautiful and you can hit off real grass, a useful experience when you're a beginner. The putting/pitching course is amazing. Visited the gold shop to look around and the service was really friendly, didn't feel out of place. Wish I was good enough to go out on the green, must be amazing.

A good friend and I travelled to play an open competition at Sherborne recently. Not only was the course in good condition, but the staff made us feel very welcome and appreciated. Even the captain made time to introduce himself and make us feel at home. This course will ask questions of anyones game, regardless of ability. If you’re thinking about visiting, then book yourself in, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you to all concerned.

A very friendly welcome from the pro shop on arrival with a good hearty breakfast in the clubhouse with a warm welcome. Weather conditions were overcast with a good downpour after 15 holes, but this did not stop us having a good days golf ⛳️. The course was heavy under foot from the previous day’s ☔️ rain but the fairways were nice to play off if played clean off the preferred lies, as for the greens they are very fast for November and very true. All in all a good away day worth a trip 👍

Friendly staff and very helpful and welcoming. Thanks Harley. The food is excellent. Highly recommend ferdown forest for golf or to eat. Thank you to all the staff for all your good work. See you very soon Gary ☺️

Not given the course a go yet but have to give a major shoutout to the pro shop and fitting studio they have on site, came in after a few uncertainties about my clubs. Within a few shots the pro Steve who had been monitoring me very quickly picked up the issues I had with my setup and as he brought up, nothing was wrong in the selection I had both head and shaft wise but all it required to get me striking it much more consistently was to set them up 1* flat which instantly made a change in the flight path of the ball and clearly wasn’t trying to push to replace them like many places I’ve been to have. Also gave much comforting guidance without the typical route some people reading the text book as any golfer is not going to swing or setup the same. All this service including the club adjustments came to a very respectful price, highly recommend them if you’re around this area looking to be fitted or simply after some good advice on your golf game or equipment.

Absolutely stellar experience at this driving range! I've been a frequent visitor lately, and each time leaves me more impressed than the last. The Toptracer technology is great, enhancing the fun and improving my game with precise feedback. What's even better is the flexibility in payment—you pay per basket of balls, so there's no rush to finish. Also, during the week from 8am - 4pm there's no need to book, you only need turn up. Whether it's a post-lunch session or a pre-breakfast swing, this place accommodates perfectly. It has quickly become a top destination for me, and I'll definitely make it a point to swing by whenever I'm in the area. Highly recommend to all golf enthusiasts! Review for yet another breakfast here... I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a Full English Breakfast at The Forest Inn and wow—it was fantastic! As someone who loves a good fry-up, this one truly delivered and set me up perfectly for a great session on the driving range afterward. I went for the Full Dorset Breakfast, priced at £12, and it was worth every penny. It came with two New Forest bacon rashers, two butcher’s pork sausages, eggs cooked to perfection, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns, Heinz baked beans, and delicious Bakehouse24 sourdough toast. Every element of the dish was cooked beautifully and tasted fresh, from the savoury sausages to the perfectly crisp bacon. To top it all off, I had a lovely latte alongside the breakfast. It was smooth, rich, and complemented the meal perfectly—just what I needed to kickstart the day. The portion size was generous, and the quality of the ingredients really stood out. It was the perfect start to the day, filling me up with just the right amount of energy for my golf practice. I highly recommend The Forest Inn if you’re in the area, whether you’re a golfer or not. Their Full Dorset Breakfast is a must-try for anyone who appreciates a hearty and well-executed fry-up.

Played here 7/3/23 : always drove past this place and never had chance to play. I managed get finished early on a job, rang clubhouse and someone answered straight away. I was concerned the course may be closed due to the rain overnight and in the morning but was informed the course was open. I welcomed to pop down anytime as most people had stayed home because of the weather. I arrived and went in the clubhouse and was very impressed. Well stocked shelves, plenty of staff working so was served straight away I teed off at 13:30ish, the round cost me £13.50. I was informed the course was having maintenance carried out on it, which was great so I was fully aware. I have to say I was impressed with this course. It’s definitely not the longest, but there are plenty of tricky hazards to make you really think about your yardages. It’s a great course to improve your iron play if you hit it long enough. I was really impressed with the greens. Although they had been hollow tined (spiked) the greens rolled really well, we’re in great condition. The fairways were in good condition despite the time of year, I was given a good quality winter rules mat to play off. Usually even if it’s a high end club your given a strip of artificial grass which curls up and is difficult to play off. This was on a solid piece of plastic with ground spikes All the ground maintenance team were friendly and polite, they could see which greens I was approaching so worked that around which greens they did I would definitely recommend this course and I look forward to coming back in the summer to see how well it looks with all the works going on

Stayed overnight here and ignore first impressions with the caravans people are living in in the carpark at.the front. It's quiet in the part round the back apart from the light aircraft field that's behind it. But for a.stop over on your travels it does.the job.

A very nice camp site with good facilities. Unfortunately for us it never stopped raining so we didn't have much chance to look round. The golf course looks popular and always had people on it. The fishing lake looked inviting but I didn't try it due to the awful weather. Hardstandings are available. Good value for money if you use your own gas for heating rather than the electric.

Knighton Heath Golf Club

I played Knighton Heath today whilst visiting the South Coast on a family holiday. Having done a little investigation I chose Knighton as a cost effective alternative to some of the more famous and celebrated courses in the area, of which there are many. I played at 3.30pm on a twilight rate , £30. This deal is unreal value. Knighton is an absolute gem and could command a fee well over £100 in my opinion! Its beautifully kept, the layout is fantastic, the greens are in amazing condition and to cap it all I received a very warm welcome as a single visiting golfer to the club. One member joined me for the back 9 and he really added to my positive experience. I have been lucky enough to play some top courses in the UK and Europe and this is honestly one of the best I have played - easily in my top ten. I will definitely be heading back again soon. The hidden gem of the South Coast. Fabulous!!!

Great course in excellent condition. Quite hilly, so be prepared for the walk.
Rating: 4 / 5
A fantastic warm welcome in the pro shop for a 5pm summer tee time. The course itself was being prepared for a club championship. I can only assume this is the reason for the extra long rough. This made it particularly challenging for someone who hasn’t played the course before and didn’t know the lines etc. Some good shots seemed unfairly punished. I would play again as the general condition of the course was good, not fantastic. Bunkers contained lots of stones and some greens were not in the best condition. I hope to play again and give 5 stars.

Welcoming staff and members. We were in attendance for an Inter County Junior golf competition. We are always given a warm welcome even though the event takes over the place for 3 days. Food is great too. Fresh well cooked and reasonable . Next time can we have better weather, it was the only let down 😜 but course handled everything that was thrown at it by mother nature. Brilliant effort by greenkeepers

Played here during a week long stay in Bournemouth and really glad we did. Very warm welcome from Pro-shop through to bar staff, food very nice and reasonably priced. The course itself was in immaculate condition and an interesting challenge. Whilst only spanning 90 acres it doesn't feel cramped with most holes being tree lined. Would highly recommend playing!

This being my home club I’m maybe a bit biased ⛳️ after a very dry summer and no grass on the fairways we are now seeing the grass growing well. Green are all getting there make over and starting to recover well. we have a very well stocked pro shop and will soon have a golf simulator purpose built to improve your golf ⛳️ we have a full catering service and a very comfortable Club house.🥶 Winter has arrived but the course is holding out, cold and sunny winter golf ⛳️ roll on the spring. Still worth a visit on a nice day ⛳️🥶

Lovely course with greens and fairways in great condition. Welcoming staff. Very nice pro shop, bar and restaurant. My only criticism is of the green keeping staff who were cutting areas around the tee boxes who showed little consideration when teeing off. On one hole, the guy with the blower blew grass cuttings into me while I sat in a buggy prior to teeing off. I had bits of grass in my eyes and even into my mouth. I think they should be a little more mindful of the players. Other than that, I very much enjoyed my round in a club that had a friendly atmosphere. Great variety of holes, many with beautiful views. Very happy to play there again.

Absolutely lovely course with nice elevation and a few water points adding character to a course. Greens and fairways in great condition and most of all it’s superb value compared to other courses of its kind. Also has a lovely clubhouse to enjoy a nice drink in after your round and a very well equipped pro shop.

Stunning golf course that will test all your skills and abilities. Pick your tee box wisely. Played here in late July & was able to book a reasonably priced green fee on their website in the afternoon. First impressions in the pro-shop were excellent and that is because we met the manager (apologies I have forgotten your name) who chatted to use and helped us with sorting out an electric buggy and giving help on how to play the first holes to get us started. Wonderful way to start the round, thank you. Isle of Purbeck Golf Club has some stunning views on some great holes, so be prepared to get some amazing photos as you walk the course. If you are walking, be prepared as it is a big course to walk with ups & downs for all 18 holes. The reason for 4* is that we were held up by a 4 ball of tourists who really didn't know how to play at a decent pace or understand that they were holding up play & should have allowed us and another group to play through. There were no course marshals to manage the pace of play. This was quite frustrating. The course was dry and the greens were in good condition, we were lucky enough to play on a warm sunny afternoon, which obviously helped with the positive experience. There are plenty of interesting & different holes on this course. No experience of the clubhouse or the restaurant as we were late finishing our round & needed to leave as soon as we finished. Looking forward to returning.

We always make a point of driving 2.5hrs to play this gem of a golf course every year. It is a fantastic golf course and in great condition, there are many challenges and so many stand out holes. The scenery is stunning , the staff are very friendly and we always enjoy a meal in the clubhouse with those views. Thanks again for a wonderful experience and we look forward to next year and many more to come.

Great course, amazing views, if the wind is up it plays really tough, be prepared to lose a lot of balls. Well worth a visit.

Really enjoyable round at Isle of Purbec Golf Club, greens are running fast and true, rough is tough and unforgiving (if you can find the ball !) Of particular note are the views around the course, which are unsurpassed !
