The room was clean, really good but in our room I think room 5, the heating was not working or quite difficult to manipulate. Anyway, it was a really good place to stay, comfortable bed, awesome restaurant - we had dinner and a complementary breakfast there, and it was very well-priced. We were charged initially for the food we didn't purchase, but it was easily rectified and refunded. Good service.

25 of my family booked this lovely pub for our annual Christmas get together on Sunday 17th November, as we chose halfway from all of us to meet up. Always a gamble when you book somewhere you not been before. Well, the Hunters Lodge Inn did not disappoint. It was really busy at 1:45pm, we had a whole section to ourselves, tables laid out, we put crackers on and had a corner for all our Secret Santa gifts. We asked for a rubbish bag so we could clean up afterwards. Jade was truly professional and a credit to the pub, she looked after us all. Service was amazing considering it was so busy. The food (carvery) was so tasty, hot, lots of it and served to you by a really lovely man. Everyone that worked here showed they really enjoy it. Car parking was fab and a lovely park for the kids. Thank you so much from us all and we look forward to seeing you all in 2025. Our new find šŸ˜ƒ

We had a really good, quickly served (by nice staff) meal at a reasonable price. We live less than a mile away and had avoided the place for 10 years (it used to be terrible) but we've now been converted!

Came here on an impromptu drive past. They were packed! But managed to fit us in. Very clear communication over table return time but we didn't feel rushed at all. Staff were really attentive, food was delicious and service was fabulous. Highly recommend

Went many years ago for lunch so decided to revisit for afternoon tea whilst on holiday in the area. What can I say. Unquestionably the best afternoon tea I have ever had. Service is impeccable without being overbearing. Lovely peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Had a nice chat with the manager (sorry forgot his name). Strongly recommend.

My partner and I spent three wonderful days at Summer Lodge to celebrate her special birthday. The staff were consistently courteous, professional and friendly: we were received with a special birthday tea and a lovely welcoming message from the managers. Our room was perfect, the meals were delicious, the grounds are delightful and the location is ideal for exploring the glorious Hardy Country (incidentally, Thomas Hardy was an architect who designed a wing of Summer Lodge). We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will certainly return. Stephen Friar

Excellent place for an idyllic stay. Staff would go above and beyond to ensure every need was catered for. Breakfast in the garden terrace was superb, excellent dishes prepared with local ingredients. The spa area was tidy and the pool temperature was just right.

We had a fabulous 2 night stay here. It's in a lovely little village, very quintessentially English. Staff were really lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Our room was really lovely, with a welcome drink and snack. We also tried a treatment in the spa and really enjoyed that too. There was even water and a cookie for our journey home.

Such a lovely brunch spot, staff were super friendly and very attentive. We ordered the avo toast and the price was so reasonable for the amount given, we ended up ordering an extra place of toast for the amount of avocado received. The coffees were so lovely with a variety of alternative milks and syrups available. A very cosy and clean location and would recommend a visit.

Our top breakfast choice when weā€™re around Boscombe. Thereā€™s plenty of choice on the menu, with options to suit meat eaters, vegetarian and vegan guests - Iā€™ve enjoyed every meal Iā€™ve had at Boscanova, but itā€™s their American style pancakes that keeps us coming back! Never had anything elsewhere that even comes close!

Fantastic local cafe with super friendly and attentive staff, delicious food and a chilled yet vibrant atmosphere that you feel welcome in instantly. On a Sunday morning you may have to wait for a table as they are super busy but itā€™s worth the wait. My husband and I both went for the Full English, the produce was of great quality with full flavour, cook very well and served with a smile, you canā€™t go wrong. We will be back for the pancakes next!

Food was lovely, staff are friendly. Only reason i am giving 4 stars is because they brought out my familyā€™s food then I had to wait for mine & then they got my order wrong and brought out the wrong food, so I had to wait even longer, whilst my family had already eaten their meals. Thatā€™s the only negative. Food was still tasty & I wouldnā€™t let this put me off returning

The four of us had the set menu/specials, pate, sausage and creamy mash & homemade chicken pies....and couldn't say no to the lemon bread & butter pudding, which was deelish!! Well stocked bar and choice of beer/Ales. The team were so friendly and very attentive....wishing them every success, its a fabulous little pub.

Just left the inn after a very enjoyable lunch. We got there about 1 o'clock and found it fairly busy but enough tables to cater for other people who came in after us. We had to wait a little while for our meals...but it was worth it. I had the lasagna with chips which was one of the more reasonably priced meals on the menu. Very tasty and too large for me to finish. The young lady who served us was very pleasant. The place is very clean and caters for all tastes...although I didn't see a menu which gave you the option of sandwiches if that is all you wanted (had open sandwiches though). Would definitely go againšŸ˜Š

We went on bank holiday Sunday for dinner after the local fete so was a busy pub with a good atmosphere. Really stylish and comfortable interior in the bar area and restaurant. All of the food we had was amazing, with the pie being the star of the show! Service could have been more attentive for an expensive meal, but didnā€™t detract from our evening. Good vibes.

Food was absolutely delicious. My venison was perfectly cooked, as was the roast beef. Whilst the goose fat roast potatoes were spot on, not including them in a roast at Ā£25, didn't go down quite so well! We didn't stay so, not able to rate the rooms.

We had the loveliest dinner and stay here, wonderful in so many ways. The dinner was absolutely delicious and atmosphere with live music was magical. Our stay was super comfortableā€”one of the comfiest beds Iā€™ve experienced in a hotel. Breakfast was perhaps my favorite part. Simple unassuming menu that was just brilliantly executed into perhaps the tastiest Iā€™ve had in England so far! The little hike/walk they recommend in the hotel guide was beautiful and quaint. Full of sweet little moments and hidden beauty.

We were on our final part of our journey down to Shepton mallet prison and we stumble across this gem of a pub. We had such a warm welcome from the new landlord. Who told us they hadn't long taken over. We had drinks and a few snacks and decided after meeting chef to stay for dinner. Food was really scummy and good value for money. So much on my plate. Yum. The staff were so friendly welcoming the pub itself cosy clean and beautiful. Good luck guys for the future and your new adventures. If we are down your way again we will definitely stop and say hello and enjoy your company and food again.

Being local, we booked the Thatched Cottage for our wedding reception, and had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with our family. All of the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. I stayed the night before, and we both stayed on our wedding night. Our room was incredibly comfortable with the heating spot on. There were a couple of niggles which were discussed, but it wouldn't be a proper wedding without! All in all we had a fabulous day, and thank Kieran and his team for their hard work. Please support local!

We stopped here last night after calling on the off chance for a table of 6 on the way home from the festival of lights at longleat. From the word get go the service was amazing so polite and helpful on the phone. We were greated at the door amd shown to our table. Where I waiter was absolutely amazing promptly took our drink and food order he was amazingly friendly a brill woth the children. You could tell he loved his job. Now the menu wasn't huge with a great deal of choice. But what was on there was fairly well priced. And I must admit I dint really expect a great deal but I have to say the food matched the service it was incredible well presented and absolutely full of flavour and the gravy on my dish wash to die for. For somewhere we just stopped out the blue I couldn't have wished to stop anywhere better. And next time we are in the area will be back. So if you looking for a family meal or evening something that little extra I would highly recommend this place. Top marks all round

Beautiful place to go for a stroll with much of the area covered by a forest canopy. Lovely little cafƩ which was reasonably priced with an amazing outlook onto the lake. Took a pram with my newborn with a fairly accessible route around the Blue Poole. Many of the other trails have steps to access so will use a baby carrier next time.
