We appointed James in January 2024 to extend our separate kitchen & dining rooms, turning them into a light and airy open-plan kitchen and living space. James is extremely efficient, polite, and respectful. Working with a 1930s house it was inevitable that there would be some structural challenges, but James worked with us, keeping us informed and involved as we devised solutions together. His team are all very polite, deliver work of excellent quality, and clearly enjoy their work and working together. As a result, I was able to continue working from home for much of the project, which saved us considerable expense.

Working with James meant that we did not have to project manage the work - he has all the contacts you need - tilers, decorators, suppliers of windows, electricians, plumbers etc.

We would definitely recommend James and would happily work with him again.

James and his team have done it again! Kitchen design is from Yanni at Howdens, who was excellent. Andy, the carpenter who works with James did a wonderful job installing the kitchen and wardrobes. Our renovation involved fitting RSJs (thanks Joe and Martin), removal of chimney flute, refitting staircase, knocking through walls, widening doors, new waste piping (Thanks Justin), new flooring (thanks Matt), new kitchen (Thanks Andy), new WC room, plastering (Thanks Lewis), painting (Thanks Colin and Craig), tiling (Thanks Steve), carpentry and fitting a stunning oak framed window (Thanks Liam!).

James and his team have made a wonderful job of our loft conversion, although it’s much more than that. Upstairs, we now have a lovely additional double bedroom and large bathroom and the changes to the hallway and staircase are fantastic. There have also been changes to one of the rooms downstairs, which is much better now the chimney breast is removed. We have a new front door and the whole roof has been retiled. The dormer blends in really well and we love our new round window. Overall, its created so much more space and the finish is first class. We couldn’t be happier. Everyone involved has been highly professional and polite. Importantly, communication with James has been excellent throughout. His monthly invoicing is very clear and easy to understand. We have no hesitation in recommending James Newsam Construction to anyone looking for a high quality building company.
