A very cute cafe who are definitely undercharging for the quality of the food. The owners are lovely people and its just such a nice spot to sit and have a slow lunch. Very welcoming for kids with a great kids menu. Highly recommend the beef massaman or anything with tofu

We visited Nonna Rosa's Cafe today with our whole family of 5. Ice coffee and small expresso are very aromatic, lovely. Our children love chocolate pastries and hot chocolate. I had a vegan cake, very tasty. We sat outside, enjoying the summer sun. I really like the paintings inside, they add a traditional, historical charm. Service is superb!

Popped in to grab a bite to eat. Attentive and welcoming staff showed me to a table with a full menu of items available. I went for a tuna melt toastie with a bit of kick from jalapeños. Food arrived promptly. It was delicious, the odd kick from the jalapeños brought something extra to a tuna melt. Had a flat white with the toastie, they paired nicely. Didn’t have time for a cake, will have to pop back in again!

Unexpectedly I found myself in Coulsdon South waiting for my car and needing to fill 2 hours. The town center it self is quite unloved, but seems to have a few gems. And Grumpy Goose is one of them quaint little restaurants with an interesting menu. I had breakfast, the rest of the menu looks delicious and a bit different. Full of goodness. The food was well presented and cooked with love and care. The service and staff very friendly and attentive. The only criticism I would have is that the beans were flavoured with herbs, but this is a personal preference I prefer traditional beans. The coffee was good.

Lovely place that felt bright and breezy inside and out. I was only there briefly for about half an hour at most and enjoyed a lovely coffee and shared a tuna & sweetcorn toastie with my friend which was very nice. The ingredients tasted fresh. The lady working there who was the owner I think was very pleasant and friendly. The cafe itself seemed small inside although quaint almost, unusual and inviting ~ somewhere to hide away if you wanted to and then the patio garden at the front of the cafe had enough space to house a few tables and chairs, under umbrellas and it all looked out on to a quieter road coming off of a busier street. It was quite delightful but then it was also a lovely hot day and I was feeling in a good mood and these sorts of things also make a difference, don't they? But like I said the lady was nice, the one working there... welcoming but not ott like 👍 I would definitely go there again How can I forget to mention... There were what looked like some delicious cakes inside the cafe, at the counter when I went up to pay, but I didn't buy one.. I was thinking, "Ahh, when I come again I'll have to try one!"

We adore this local cafe giving my 9 month old an opportunity to play and learn within walking distance of our home. The staff are so warm and happy to accommodate any specific requests. My friend and I had a delicious toastie and iced coffee while we watched our children playing together. We are so grateful for all of the hard work the owner Natalia puts into keeping the space clean and fresh. It’s a real gem and asset to the community.

So happy Abuelas opened. It’s the perfect play place for my 1&3 year old - they are both entertained and safe there. The owner is so lovely and welcoming and is absolutely great with children. The staff regularly clean and reset the play area which makes a huge difference to how appealing it is for kids. The coffee is delicious, the food is pitched just right for kids and adults and the atmosphere is really welcoming. Highly recommend the cakes too.

Have been a few times to this lovely cafe since its opening. It’s been great to have this venue open on our doorstep as a meet up place for new mums and dads and a safe space to take our growing babies to. I look forward to many more visits. It’s hard not to walk past on my trips to town without being tempted to buy a piece of their delicious cakes! The staff are welcoming and very attentive and nothing is too much trouble.

I can't praise this restaurant highly enough. The food was absolutely delicious and served really hot on heated plates. The portion sizes were just right. The attention the four of us received from all the staff was excellent. They were attentive and friendly. This is a restaurant that I am looking forward to visiting again. Lo Zafferano is a New Restaurant on the site of the now closed La Scarpetta. Lo Zafferano opened its doors on the 7 November 2022 with a new manager and head chef (who are also the new owners!). All reviews before this date should be disregarded! We had a really enjoyable evening here tonight... we started with a couple of excellent Negroni cocktails and some great homemade focaccia. We shared a starter of grilled squid with salami which was great, the squid being very tender. My calves liver was perfect: really thin slices, not overcooked with a balanced sauce with onions. My wife had the mixed grilled fish which was deftly cooked, lightly seasoned and had a great variety! We finished by sharing a peice of their homemade Tres Leche cake with Italian meringue - stunning! A small but perfectly formed wine list is available and a comprehensive cocktail menu as well. Warm, genuine and friendly service and the pride of the 2 owners was very evident! Highly recommended and Lo Zafferano deserves to be a success!

We thoroughly enjoyed our first dining experience at Lo Zafferano. All the food that we ordered were amazing and serving portions are generous and well worth the price. The penne arrabbiata is highly recommended as well as their branzino. Great atmosphere and the staff are friendly and very accommodating. We have been looking for a local Italian restaurant for a while and we finally found it! I highly recommend Lo Zafferano and we will be returning for sure.

Me and my family decided to try out this restaurant to celebrate my grandmother’s anniversary (would recommend booking in advance, the restaurant is definitely a hot spot in Coulsdon)! One of my best experiences in a restaurant, truly! Great staff, very attentive and nice, the food is amazing, full of flavour and just on point, even the desserts are tasty! Will recommend this restaurant to my friends and I will most definitely come back! A big thank you to the staff for giving my grandma a great experience on her special day!

Unplanned visit at lunch but really glad we went. The fresh Naanwiches were the star, very light and fresh and great tasting, and they can customise the naan (I had garlic and chilli instead of plain for a small extra charge). Gunpowder fries could have been spicier for us but still good and the chana masala was tasty too. Super lovely staff that can't do enough for you and alcohol available as well as soft drinks.

AMAZING RESTAURANT!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND EXCELLENT FOOD . We were here last night dining in table for 2 and had an amazing evening. Asad the owner was so friendly and we were chatting to him for ages. The tarka dhall and the cheese and chilli Nan bread , the curries , the dips , the lamb chops and king prawn, the Sri Lankan mutton rolls . EVERYTHING WAS JUST AMAZING and so tasty and beautifully presented. A lot of effort by Asad lemon slices in drinks and lovely customer service and lovely touches throughout evening. Much appreciate it and thank you . We used to go regularly to the Purley one and loved it. We were so happy to see the other waiter from Purley branch suddenly appear at the Coulsdon branch. His face also lit up when he saw us. I wish people would realise this isn’t your average Indian restaurant with traditional curries . The menu has a real twist to it and it’s more Sri Lankan / South Indian than a typical Bangladeshi style Indian cuisine. Also I am aghast to read some of the reviews how people have ordered food and clearly eaten it and still phone back the restaurant making a complaint to simply get their money back so they end up with both, the food and their money back. Terrible behaviour towards a small business and so selfish of people. Asad has the best customer service skills I’ve ever come across in any restaurant or take away and he makes effort to really reach out to customers so some customers clearly just take the mick. My wife and I had a lovely meal to celebrate my birthday on a Saturday evening, just a few weekends before Christmas. There was a huge Christmas party also there at the same time, but it just added to the atmosphere and didn’t impact anything. We had changed the time of our booking earlier in the day to an hour later. Thank you for accommodating us! The Chateaubriand steak for two wasn’t quite what we were expecting. It felt more like lots of cooked steaks all on one plate, but it was tasty nonetheless. The waitresses were lovely - very friendly and had good recommendations! We left very satisfied and are looking forward to returning again soon. Thank you
