Lovely menu with plenty of variety, the Veal Wellington was delicious. We liked the fact that the menu is a set price. Both the hotel and restaurant are good value for money.

Decent food, good selection, the staff were excellent. I loved the small bar at the back with the chess set. I think the furniture could do with some work as it doesn't quite fit the surroundings. Overall very good. Thanks for having us.

Café Solo
302 Wincheap, Canterbury CT1 3TY, UK | Cafe P: 01227 470178
Rating: 4.5 (740) Price Level:
I was really impressed with cafe solo. We went there for breakfast and I really couldn't fault the food - I wanted a good fry up and that's exactly what I got. The milkshake here is also some of the best I've had around Canterbury, actually made using ice cream with a dollop of cream on top. The only reason I haven't put 5 stars for the food is because it didn't wow me like my other 5 star reviews, but it was still very decent. The staff were super friendly but gave us the space we wanted to eat together, the space was clean, and we were even surprised with complimentary Turkish delight. Overall, would recommend. They have a small carpark, but there are supermarkets nearby.
Rating: 5 / 5
Perfect little Cafe if you're in the Wincheap area, fair prices, huge portions, great flexibility on build your own breakfasts. They have an extensive menu and even offer smoothies if you want to counteract the fry up đ Polite and efficient staff, overall great experience again!
Rating: 5 / 5
My family and I had a lovely breakfast in this cafe. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, special shout out to Megan 1.0 for looking after us so beautifully. I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo of my vegetarian breakfast (which was delicious). So I took this one off the outside seating area :)

If Google could do more than 5 stars this place would get it. Upon arriving I got welcomed at the front door and seated. I think itâs a family run business because they take pride in everything they do. Food was wonderful Staff polite Cafe very clean Thereâs only two cafeâs I would take my wife too and this is one of them.

Me and my friends stopped by this lovely restaurant for lunch and it was absolutely amazing. The guy who served was so polite and the environment was so friendly. Cute interior giving out retro vibes. The food was in hearty portions and the cappuccino was out of my expectation! The froth was perfect and airy with the chocolate powder dusted evenly on top. I highly recommend this place if you want something simple but delicious.

Café des Amis
95 St. Dunstans St, Canterbury CT2 8AA, UK | Mexican Restaurant P: 01227 464390
Rating: 4.7 (1867) Price Level:
Great food, quick and friendly service with a cosy ambience. The Lamb Stew that I had was delicious and the accompanying salsa was fresh with the right amount of spice. Left feeling full and Happy!
Rating: 5 / 5
Friendly staff, fun decor and delicious food. First time visiting and am new to Mexican foods so the staff helped me understand the menu items better to make my choice. Went for the spinach leek and cheese tacos and they were so good and paired wonderfully with the beans and guac. Excited to return and try more!
Rating: 5 / 5
This is the best meal Iâve had in Canterbury and I understand why this restaurant has lasted so long. Itâs one of the busiest restaurants too so you do have to book (it was packed even on a dreary February weekday ). The decor is colourful and wonderfully eccentric. Every member of the staff was warm and friendly despite the fact that they were very busy. I ordered a chicken fajita which came with generous, fresh portions of everything and deliciously cooked chicken. Itâs worth noting that although the menu shows fajita for two that can also do single portions on request (I nearly didnât have one at all because I donât know this). Other members in the party all complemented the food. Overall it was excellent and I strongly recommend it.

Great Mexican! Super yummy food & nice vibe. Been my fave spot for years while I lived in Canterbury. Came back 5 years later & itâs still the same great quality food, full of flavors. Funky art on the wall is for sale too! Thank you:)

Wow. The duck is just fantastic. The server asked me how I wanted to duck, which was the first time Iâve ever been asked that. He explained to me that the duck tastes better and has a nicer texture if it id a bit pink. And he was right. The duck was the highlight of my entire trip to Canterbury! Thereâs also a student discount, which is really nice. This place is very popular, so be sure to make a reservation. Luckily they were able to fit us in without needing to make one.

Cosy little cafe in Canterbury. Chicken Caesar salad was delicious. We also had the potato and garlic soup which was also great

My favourite place to take visiting friends and family in Canterbury. No need to pre-book. The cheese scones are super delicious, I keep going back just for them. I've tried different teas, they never disappoint. Nuts allergy friendly.
Rating: 5 / 5
Was visiting with a friend and hopped in for some afternoon tea, the staff were so helpful with advising us about portion sizes and I can say- they were right! One serving of afternoon tea was more than enough between the two of us. The Raspberry Apple scone was delicious and so large we almost couldnât finish it, and the finger sandwiches were so fresh with classic fillings! We got the Tiny Timâs House-blend for our tea and loved it. Overall, Cosy Interiors, great food and excellent service:))
Rating: 5 / 5
Lovely place for a classic scone. Their house scone (with blueberry and lime) is delicious (donât forget the extra clotted cream!). Also nice selection of hot chocolates with fantasy. Beautiful setting.

Quirky Super place, first time customer and we're be returning next time we are in Canters. Staff were excellent, friendly, professional and the service received was top notch. Teas were really nice, certainly different and there was plenty for two cups. Scones were of a good standard although one totally fell into pieces. Jam and butter were superb. ÂŁ35 for 2 x teas, 1 x coffee & 3 x scones. Expensive, maybe, but was quality đ

The Moat Tea Rooms
67 Burgate, Canterbury CT1 2HJ, UK | Tea House P: 01227 784514
Rating: 4.6 (332) Price Level:
Enjoy the cream tea at this cozy traditional English tea room. Scones are nicely reheated. The scones can be more buttery. Clotted cream is soooo nice. Large variety of tea is offered.
Rating: 5 / 5
I had seen the tea rooms online and thought it should be perfect to take my friends from abroad to, and it absolutely delivered! The place is actually much more spacious than it looks, lovely sitting area upstairs. We popped in Sunday lunchtime and were surprised the place was empty, that meant we got to choose the best table. The building itself is so quaint, the traditional cream tea and sandwiches were delicious, great tea selection, but the service left the most lasting impression. The young lady, I did not get her name unfortunately, was really sweet and helpful, made us feel very welcome. Will definitely be back to sample the cakes!
Rating: 5 / 5
The Moat Tea Rooms is a wonderfully cozy spot, tucked away in a charming old crooked Tudor building that feels like stepping back in time. My visit here was a delightful experience. The quaint and intimate atmosphere, paired with the history radiating from the walls, makes it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a peaceful afternoon. We ordered Russian Caravan tea, which had a rich, smoky flavor that felt just right for the setting, alongside a smooth and comforting latte. Despite not being very hungry, we couldnât resist sharing a slice of cherry and nut pie, which was a great choice. The pie was delicious, with the tartness of the cherries perfectly complemented by the crunch of the nuts. It was a small indulgence, more for the soul than the stomach, and it lifted our spirits on a quiet day. What stood out, besides the food and ambiance, was the warm and friendly staff. They were incredibly kind and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Their hospitality made us feel truly welcome, and itâs clear they take pride in creating a pleasant and relaxing environment for their guests. I highly recommend The Moat Tea Rooms for anyone looking to escape the bustle of daily life and soak in some historic charm. Whether you're there for a full meal or just a soothing cup of tea, itâs a lovely spot to unwind and treat yourself.
Rating: 5 / 5
Tasty homemade cakes and flavored tea. The half timbered building looks amazing from both inside and outside. It's a cozy place to relax and have yummy cakes with friends. Highlight of our day trip in Canterbury. I would definitely love to visit again. Their chocolate cake is definitely worth it. The price is quite reasonable. I loved their rose sencha green tea.

The best service ever! We had so much fun at the Moat Tea Rooms for a friendâs birthday afternoon tea. The waitress fulfilled everybodyâs wishes with care and witty humour. Definitely will return! Delicious tea and broad selection of cakes.

Chapman's
89-90 St. Dunstans St, Canterbury CT2 8AD, UK | Seafood Restaurant P: Not available
Rating: 4.5 (425) Price Level:
Went to this lovely restaurant for my bfâs birthday - completely unplanned and didnât have any expectations but we were incredibly surprised! We ordered scallops and tuna tartar as starters. The scallops were succulent and cooked to perfection, but the tuna tartar was ok as it was a bit dry without any dressing. Thereâs room for improvement for the tuna tartar but it didnât affect the overall experience. For main we had Hake in curry Dahl sauce and whole lemon sole. Both were absolutely delicious! The hake was fusion with the curry sauce, splash of chilli oil and lots of coriander - an explosion of flavours and such a pleasant surprise! The lemon sole was super fresh with silky and buttery flesh and delicate flavours. The service was great too. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely be back!
Rating: 5 / 5
We ate here as part of a friend's special birthday celebrations. We'd booked for lunch and all fancied the Tasting menu, which was terrific value even before we realised it was half price that day. The food was incredible. Ross is a talented chef. Alysha looked after us perfectly. Nothing was too much trouble. They easily swapped out a starter one of our party with a crab allergy for equally delicious prawns. Presentation and flavours were amazing. If only I lived nearer.
Rating: 5 / 5
We came for our wedding anniversary on a Friday night. We were the only ones here, but the service and the atmosphere was very nice. We had the tuna tartar and the scallops, followed by roasted hake fillet and monkfish wellington. All of the fish courses were full of flavour and good size portions. The winner for me was the monkfish. The desserts were also really tasty. The chocolate delice tasted like proper real chocolate but the cinnamon bun takes the cake. The portions are generous. I think the main courses are well priced, starter and dessert on the higher end of the spectrum. But the food is worth it. Will definitely come back again!

Looking to try some seafood in Canterbury, our group of 4 decided to make a booking for this restaurant and were incredibly pleasantly surprised upon visiting it. The dishes at this restaurant were very creative and we could all tell that the chef put a lot of effort into them. Some highlights of our meal were the fried oysters and the fish and chips, which had batter that was light and crispy. The runny yolk from the deep fried egg was a perfect fit with the sauce used for the asparagus. The ice cream that came with our dessert was not too sweet and tasted strongly of white chocolate, fitting nicely with the warm cinnamon buns under it. The service was wonderful too. The waitress was incredibly kind and talkative, telling us about life in Canterbury and recommending sightseeing spots for us in the local area. Upon complimenting the chef after we finished our mains, he even increased the portion sizes of our desserts for us! Overall, this was a delightful dining experience and if we ever come back to Canterbury, we'll be sure to return.

Hi Chapman's! I wanted to let you know about the fantastic dining experience my partner and I had recently at this wonderful restaurant. The Ancient Raj
25-26 North Ln, Canterbury CT2 7EE, UK | Indian Restaurant P: 01227 455882
Rating: 4.5 (727) Price Level:
What a great place! Turned up without a reservation, and was seated within minutes (was very busy thou). We had a young trainee as our waiter and he was great. Next on to the food, one of the condiments for the poppadoms was very different it looked dry but was full of flavour and was moist, it was delicious. The two mains we shared had a very good potion size of meat in them and both were great in taste. Very difficult to fault anything.
Rating: 5 / 5
Amazing dinner, 100/10 experience, the food was original and tasty and not oily, the service was empecable, the interior design was very cured and elegant and the owner was lovely and welcoming, I 100% recommend this restaurant for all meals and celebrations đ„łđ cheers from Italy and Morocco

This is the best Indian restaurant in Canterbury, Kent! I now understand why it is so hard to book a table at this place. Everything here was amazing including service, food and the atmosphere. The location is very close to town centre and within walking distance to the train station. I cannot recommend this place enough. Two thumbs up!

Good things come to those who wait and that is true of the flavoursome curries at The Ancient Raj. No corners are cut in the selection, mix and development of spices to create delectable curry dishes. Fish was tender, biryani fluffy, madras properly spiced and service impeccable.

This is a long awaited review! I visited here a long while ago with my boyfriend and family and I just havenât stopped thinking about it. We travelled up here from strood as a special visit as we saw the place on google come up as one of the best restaurants near me. So we made the trip and it was more than worth it. The food was incredible, it was so hot and tasty I would honestly say it was one of the best meals I have ever had! The restaurant is also so beautiful and has a lovely feel to it, and the staff make this even better they are so kind and welcoming and provide great service, I definitely will make a point if coming back here when I can as it lived up to beyond my expectations. I have to add in, the scotch egg was unbelievable, although I didnât take a second to photograph it, it wad the best scotch egg I have ever tasted, I 100% recommend it!

Warm welcome and service, well cooked food and decent portion size. The scotch egg is a must!

We had a wonderful experience here. The staff were all helpful and extremely friendly. Although the menu is not extensive, you won't be disappointed. Review: This cafĂ© in Canterbury is clearly a local favorite, and itâs easy to see why! We visited during the early lunch hour, and it was buzzing with people, but there were plenty of tables available, including a cozy outdoor area with a covering. The service was excellent despite the busy atmosphere, and we had the best chai weâve ever tastedârich, aromatic, and perfectly spiced. Although we didnât get a chance to try the food, the dishes we saw being served looked absolutely delicious. Definitely worth a visit for a great drink and lively ambiance!
Rating: 5 / 5
Their cherry pie is the best dessert I have ever had in my entire life and I am not exaggerating that. I passed by this cafe and spotted the cake & pie display through their window. It looked so good that I turned right around and went in and ordered a cappuccino (they did not judge me for ordering one at 4pm, very kind of them) and the glorious cherry lattice pie. I can taste it even now months later as I write this review. I see it in my dreams. It was unlike the syrupy, overly sweet pies that tend to be the norm in America. It was tart and dense and the crust was rich and buttery and soft. It was so beautiful it looked like one of the pies you would see sitting on a windowsill in a childrenâs book. I have never written a love letter to a pie before but I am writing one now because that is what this pie inspired in me. After that life-changing slice I got a second one to go, and the box made the journey to the evening church service at the cathedral and on to the train station and all the way back to London as I could not bear the thought of not having a slice of this pie to look forward to, as I sadly must do now. I live in the US so the only solution is to make it myself. I have been looking for a recipe for months but havenât yet found one that comes close. If you are luckier than me and are in Canterbury or will be in Canterbury soon you should do yourself a favor and try it.
Rating: 4 / 5
Lovely cafe in the heart of Canterbury. The space inside is not a lot but there is a large covered terrace where itâs very pleasant to enjoy a meal or a drink. The food we ordered was nice, but the waiting time was quite long I would say (half an hour for some eggs). Nice cakes and teas too. I would stop again in a less busy day. Dog friendly.
Rating: 5 / 5
Lazix has quickly become my favourite place to visit in Canterbury for a cake and a catch up with friends. For five visits I've had quick, friendly service every single time. The menu has a great range of choices, although the chocolate orange cake is so addictively gorgeous that I tend to get that most of the time. It tastes like jaffa cakes turned into a tiered cake and is amazing! The outside seating upstairs on the terrace is also lovely in sunny weather. Highly recommend!
Rating: 5 / 5
Lazix CafĂ© is a hidden gem! I thoroughly enjoyed their Benedict egg ham and delicious bagel, both bursting with flavor and prepared to perfection. The cafe boasts a great vibe and charming interior decoration, creating a cozy atmosphere perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends. Their coffee is also noteworthyâsmooth, rich, and expertly brewed, it complements the tasty food offerings wonderfully. The staff at Lazix CafĂ© are friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience from start to finish. Whether you're stopping by for breakfast, brunch, or a casual coffee break, Lazix CafĂ© delivers on quality and ambiance. For a delightful culinary experience with great food, coffee, and ambiance, Lazix CafĂ© is definitely worth a visit. Five stars well-deserved!
