We have eaten here many times and it is always absolutely amazing. The roast dinners are honestly the best I have had. Today, we ordered a large roast take away for 12 people. Wow wow wow, large portion size, tastes amazing, still very hot when we got it home, brilliant service when collecting it and easy to order. They even catered for a gluten free dinner which can be really hard to find. Thank you so much.

El Sol Tapas Bar & Restaurant

7-8 Sun St, Canterbury CT1 2HX, UK | Restaurant
P: 01227 467716

Rating: 4.7 (486) Price Level:

This restaurant is great with lovely Tapas and a very cosy feel. Really enjoyed the octopus, the chorizo and fab padron peppers. Took 1 star off as when it's busy, it's a bit tight for space. Our table on 15th November was right next to the bar area where everyone waits for their table. Try the food though!

The Cook's Tale Restaurant

14-15 Beer Cart Ln, Canterbury CT1 2NY, UK | Indian Restaurant
P: 01227 200777

Rating: 4.7 (2161) Price Level:

Wow, what an amazing experience. Came here for our 23rd anniversary meal, and went for the 12 course tasting menus with matched wines. After the first couple of courses I was a little worried that we would not be full by the end, but by the end of the tenth course we were both struggling to take another bite. Had the food not been so good, we may have given up, but it was amazing and we persevered, and now we are both uncomfortably full but so happy with what we have eaten. The service was impeccable, you rarely get it so good in this country. The food was rich, delicious and wholesome, and varied enough to keep the most eclectic palate happy. The wines were incredibly well paired, and each one delicious in their own right, but elevated to another level with the paired food. It is a little off the beaten track, but worth going out of your way to find. No regrets at all with choosing this marvellous restaurant, we will be singing praises to our friends and family and would heartily recommend to anyone.

I have been visiting The Cook’s Tale for at least eight years now and I always have a wonderful experience. The food is simply delicious! It's fine dining quality at a mid-range price. If you are able to take advantage of one of their monthly deals, it's insanely good value for money. The service has always been very attentive. As a vegetarian I love the quantity and variety of vegetarian dishes - it's clear they aren't some afterthought. Something else that I really appreciate about The Cook’s Tale is that unlike many other restaurants in a similar price range they don't automatically add gratuity to the bill, it's left to you to decide how much you want to tip. If you are considering visiting The Cook’s Tale, stop thinking and go now! You won't regret it.

We had a wonderful lunch at The Cook's Tale Restaurant in Canterbury! As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by Asher, our host, who was friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the menu. He made sure our dietary requirements were carefully addressed and guided us through the options. We opted for the Meat and Vegetarian Thali, and both were absolutely delicious — full of vibrant flavors and beautifully presented. What truly stood out was the exceptional service. During our meal, Chef Alfie came over to check on us, asking if we were enjoying our food and if we had any feedback. It was a lovely personal touch that made the experience even more memorable. The restaurant itself had a cosy, festive atmosphere, with Christmas decorations adding a warm touch to the environment. Overall, a fantastic dining experience, with excellent food, great service, and a welcoming ambience. Highly recommended!

My husband and I booked for the Indian high tea. It was on an offer and we love high tea, so we figured we would try it. It was all so amazing. There was a tone of variety of both sweet and savoury and the masala chai tea we got was very nice. The service was quick and attentive. Such a fun and unique twist- our favourite was the spiced chocolate cake and the potato sandwich. We cleaned our plates!

Went to Canterbury and found this lovely restaurant by the river. Sat outside and all I can say is wow. Special set menu Monday - Friday in the day, very reasonable for the quality. Had one of the best beef carpaccio’s I’ve eaten (best was in Paris) and then a cracking nduja/salami wood fired pizza that I only just finished… shame to waste amazing food. One of the nicest menu’s I’ve seen in a while… fancied everything. The service also gets a special mention (lady with the smile and braces) couldn’t have done more for us and you can tell they had been trained well. Highly recommend if you come to Canterbury… inside good vibes and good music. Best to book especially at weekends. Happy Eating :)

The service quality was very good, they booked me in for a consultation and because they had time they also did my tooth filling straightaway after. Dr Amar Arjuna was very knowledgeable and helpful, ready to answer all of my questions. I didn't feel any kind o pain during the procedure as he was very attentive and light handed. Modern and clean premises. Overall great experience! Thank you!

I was amazed that my two brown mis-shapen teeth at the front could be improved so easily and efficiently by composite bonding. I had not heard of the process until recently, but Dr Arjuna transformed my front teeth within an hour! I totally recommend his service. Also his prices are cheaper than others I have researched.

I am a very nervous patient due to bad experiences in the past but I felt no anxiety today at my appointment. I felt in safe hands and the dentist was really gentle as I have sensitive gums. He also offered a full explanation of what I needed and was honest about what I could achieve. I would also like to mention Faye on reception who was very friendly and extremely helpful with liaising about appointments. I nearly cancelled this morning as my anxiety was awful but this was unfounded. It was a fabulous experience x

The White Horse Inn

The Square, Chilham, Canterbury CT4 8BY, UK | Pub

Rating: 4.5 (544) Price Level:

Quirky local pub off a picturesque town square. The place is full of books and odd little decorations, in a good way (it's a great if only a little random book selection). The staff was super friendly and service was quick, given how busy it was. The food was nice too and very filling. Price was reasonable - we paid £35 each for main, dessert and a couple of drinks. There are two friendly pub dogs who roam around. Customers were nice too - one of them even got the whole pub to sing my boyfriend happy birthday.

We stayed up the road from this lovely, old and quirky village pub. The food was amazing and the service excellent. We couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome and didnt feel out of place there with the locals. The lady behind the bar in particular was so friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. We would highly recommend this pub either for a drink or to eat if you are staying in the area.

The best pub I've ever been to and I am not ashamed to admit that I have been to quite a few:) There is always a risk when visiting a "local" pub in the small village that you feel out of place. Was totally opposite. On the first visit felt like I've been coming there for decades. Ticked all of the boxes of what a geat pub should be. History and most amazing setting, cozy, great selection of drinks and food, friendly and attentive staff. Not tried the food, but couple we met at the B&B mentioned that was reasonably priced and very tasty.

After a long journey to Dover castle and Canterbury we had a relaxing and enjoyable dinner at White Horse Chilham. The atmosphere is very cosy and quirky, the fire place is so nice, Colt the mighty dog just added to whole cosines. We had delicious calamari starter and Fish and chips. Paul and Jess were friendly and very welcoming.

I absolutely loved this pub. We arrived in the village after a 4 hour hike wanting a cosy place to rest and recuperate and boy did this place deliver. Just big enough that there are various nooks to relax in but small enough to have instant atmosphere when you walk in. A giant log fireplace in the back dining room is really special and all the staff are super friendly and keen to help. We had the Fish and Chips which were excellent with really substantial portions. I'm so glad we picked this pub.

Rating: 4.7 (128) Price Level:

A must visit in Canterbury. Service was outstanding. The server was extremely kind and the staff was very friendly. We went with our dog, and they were all extremely welcoming. The decoration is lovely. Every inch is worth observing, as it has its own theme/style. It even has a reading room for children, which I found quite unique. Our drinks were delicious. The rose latte was the perfect way to end our afternoon. 🌹

The decor inside is the real winner of Wilding, with a lovely mix of tables in nooks, soft chairs etc spread over the different levels. The stairs - particularly to the restroom - reflect the heritage of the building and add nice quirks. There’s a good range of different teas available and fresh cakes, and service was pleasant and polite through the Christmas rush.

Cute little cafe with eclectic decoration and lots of cozy places to sit. Their entrance is within sight of the main cathedral gate. Quirky Super place, first time customer and we're be returning next time we are in Canters. Staff were excellent, friendly, professional and the service received was top notch. Teas were really nice, certainly different and there was plenty for two cups. Scones were of a good standard although one totally fell into pieces. Jam and butter were superb. £35 for 2 x teas, 1 x coffee & 3 x scones. Expensive, maybe, but was quality 👍

Was visiting with a friend and hopped in for some afternoon tea, the staff were so helpful with advising us about portion sizes and I can say- they were right! One serving of afternoon tea was more than enough between the two of us. The Raspberry Apple scone was delicious and so large we almost couldn’t finish it, and the finger sandwiches were so fresh with classic fillings! We got the Tiny Tim’s House-blend for our tea and loved it. Overall, Cosy Interiors, great food and excellent service:))
