Blackmarsh Farm Café
Blackmarsh Farm, Dodd's Cross, Sherborne DT9 4JX, UK | Cafe P: 01935 815040
Rating: 4.6 (177) Price Level:
Good location on the edge of Sherborne to let the kids run and play while you sit comfortably in the old farm yard with a cake and coffee or maybe a light lunch.
Rating: 5 / 5
An amazing maize, maze one of the best around. What a pity it's the final maze this year. A wonderful attraction for all the family with all the usual facilities including a superb little cafe. Play area for younger children and very reasonably priced. Staff extremely friendly and helpful adding to the experience. The maze is open all summer until early September so get in there quickly for a brilliant day out!
Rating: 5 / 5
I love this little place that has a larger personality especially around the holidays, nice food, nice helpful staff, and full of friendlyness. It gets bigger and louder during the holidays and summer months when it opens the play area and the maize maze. Lovely for families and children. I have to say it pleases my heart to see this place set up for children's outside play, they certainly keep you on your toes, even when you are not part of that group or party, it has a little downside life everywhere when is busy hearing can be an issue even when sat face to face, so if you're expecting a wee cuppa or coffee or lunch in peace or relative quite here, you honestly won't know until you get there. It's just lovely hearing the children and youths being a play outside and not attached to their phones or computers.

Went with my sister ( a local ) and daughter and granddaughter. Food was really lovely. Highly reccomend the quiche. The play area is safe and really well laid out. If you are in the area it is well worth a visit. We live over an hour away but do make a beeline for Blackmarsh Farm when visiting. Staff are lovely too.

The Cafe at Compton Abbas Airfield
Compton Abbas Airfield, Salisbury SP5 5AP, UK | Cafe P: 01747 811767
Rating: 4.3 (324) Price Level:
Lovely little place for plane spotting. We went while it was quite overcast, but the clouds cleared and off went the spitfire! Food was absolutely delicious and the staff were lovely. They allowed us to shelter inside on our table for 45 minutes before our booking was due to start. Will be visiting again when the weather is a little warmer to enjoy a crispy pint while watching the planes!
Rating: 4 / 5
We didn't eat today so can't rate the food. Richie Beer excellent. The coffee from the outside cabin, pretty awful, we poured ours away. McDonalds coffee better... hopefully the coffee in the main restaurant was properly prepared and significantly better. Great day for Spitfire action.
Rating: 4 / 5
Popular breakfast spot. Unfortunately the service is haphazard and range of options extremely limited. My friend ordered a bacon and sausage roll and was served a bacon and egg roll. He sent it back and was then served a sausage and egg roll. In frustration he ate it because we were short of time.
Rating: 5 / 5
I went with a large group who arrived at varying times so service was difficult to judge. However, the young lady who took our orders was charming, good humoured and helpful. Food was excellent, only choice for veggie or vegan was jackfruit. The meat, pork or beef was excellent, as was the Ritchie beer, but as that remains a personal choice you'll have to try it to see. Yes I will go again.
Rating: 5 / 5
My first visit since Guy Ritchie took the Airfield over. The restaurant area has been enlarged and has full glazing from end to end giving panoramic views towards Shaftsbury. The interior is not cramped in any way although it was busy. One has good viewing of aircraft taking off and landing. Outside are plenty of picnic tables so if the weather is good you can sit outside if you want. I had lunch and it was really good. Pulled smoked beef in a brioche bun. Apparently there are only 3 of these 'smokers' in Europe, and they're worth every penny. Not a good menu if you're vegan or veggy. I tried one of Guy's own beers and it was really good. We were in a large party who arrived at different times so I can't say too much about service times, but I had no complaints. The girl who looked after our tables was good humoured, patient and helpful. I shall definitely go back.

Furzebrook Rd, Wareham BH20 5AR, UK | Tourist Attraction P: 01929 558150
Rating: 4.4 (2303) Price Level:
Lovely scenic spot that's well worth the visit. Very relaxing and pretty. Nice place for family, kids, dogs or just pleasant walk round on your own. Cheerful, friendly and helpful guy in ticket office and pleasant staff in cafe. Thoroughly enjoyed the place. Nice little plant shop, Ice cream shop and gift shop. Easy access loos. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
Rating: 5 / 5
Went there as part of a new trail race and a great location. The pool is still blue all year so never disappointed, but obviously better when weather is clear. Great walks around. Good cafe. Well family priced.
Rating: 5 / 5
Beautiful place to go for a stroll with much of the area covered by a forest canopy. Lovely little café which was reasonably priced with an amazing outlook onto the lake. Took a pram with my newborn with a fairly accessible route around the Blue Poole. Many of the other trails have steps to access so will use a baby carrier next time.
Rating: 5 / 5
Lovely place for a day out. Walks were clear and easy to stroll. The rope bridge was great fun. The views across the pool are stunning in a number of viewpoints. I guess when the azaleas are flowering it is absolutely beautiful. There's a nice cafe and lovely gift shop. I only wish we had visited before but will be back again before long

went for a birthday meal food was amazing, decor was eccentric, staff were friendly and lovely to speak to the food did take a while to arrive due to issues in the kitchen on the day but the staff apologised and explained this seeing the animals in the fields outside after the meal was a nice surprise overall highly recommend
Rating: 5 / 5
Had lunch here and it was excellent! The carrot cake and chai tea are 5* worthy alone; everything else is a bonus! Décor is fabulous, as is the location. Service was a little slow but it's August and expected tbh... Staff really friendly

Excellent breakfast here. Not the cheapest but worth it. First time for me not the last. Staff excellent and very friendly

Lovely ambience. Food was well portioned. Food was average. Wings could be seasoned better. The fish batter was crispy. Pulled pork sandwich was good.

Teals
1 Orchard Lane, South Cadbury, Yeovil BA22 7FS, UK | Food Store P: 01963 361755
Rating: 4.3 (1080) Price Level:
Fantastic. The breakfast was excellent. Quality ingredients, perfectly cooked, great coffee and the raspberry cheesecake brownie was amazing. The butcher was superb, as was the bakery and the staff were friendly, attentive and very professional. If only there were more services like Teals. Simply brilliant all round.
Rating: 5 / 5
Omg, this place was amazing. I passed it the other day on a commute but had time to visit today, was not disappointed!!! The interior is beautiful, well stocked and loos amazing. Food area was well stocked with lovely I'm grown or locally sourced items, cafe was fab, toilets clean and eco friendly.

Teals Farm Shop 🐌🐌🐌 On Bruton’s Doorstep If you don’t have time for a long lunch at Da Costa in Bruton, this marvellous place is the next best thing. Promoting West Country produce - 50 prodcuers within 50 miles; local grass fed beef, their own sausages, and bacon, organic sourdough, proper sandwiches that would do Pimlilco proud, local cheese counter. A wood fired oven turning out Fruit Pig black pudding, mustard and pickled onion on flat bread £14.50; wood fired hake, Queen chick peas, leeks, spiced butter £16.50; skin on chips, rosemary salt, aoli, £4.50; ember baked beetroot, soft herbs, horseradish creme fresh. Fast, efficient, friendly service. On the A 303 at South Cadbury near Yeovil in Somerset, it’s an ecological gastronome's dream of what a service station should be (electric chargers, but no petrol).

First time here and loved it! Amazing shop with fantastic produce. The sourdough is just wonderful. Had breakfast too which was hot, fresh and so tasty using amazing produce (the black pudding is one of the best I’ve tasted) Thumbs up from me! Got a new customer for sure

If service stations (electric charging only) could all be like this then travelling and rest stops would be amazing! Great local produce farmshop and amazing cafe. Friendly staff, outside seating and lovely loos. A steak and chips and flat bread lunch with a glass of cider. Lovely

Lovely little cafe (though there's much more space in the back) with fresh homemade bakes. I can recommend the caramel shortbread! They have many options also for lunch.
Rating: 5 / 5
Simply the best in Sherborne; fabulous host - Jane - great coffee, beer and cakes. Throughout lockdown they have supported voluntary organisations and diversified to excellent take away. Food is fabulous value and the surroundings are comfortable and staff welcoming; give it a try!
Rating: 5 / 5
Perfect day out with our grandson was made even more special by the beautiful food and lovely staff at Olivers. The clean counter was packed with fresh patisseries and we were pleased to see a selection of hot savoury food too because we were all hungry. The food was piping hot and I ordered egg salad/bacon on my jacket potato which was light and tasty and most importantly, the potato was not soggy and limp, but browned with a baked taste! The pecan slice was the best I have EVER eaten! Buttery shortbread and large, fresh pecans dripping in sauce! Extremely friendly staff - we will definitely go back.

Rating: 4.4 (432) Price Level:
I have visited before but only for coffee . We had a fantastic lunch of monkfish parpadelle and also tuna melt with salad. Monkfish tasted delicious as did the tuna. The whole menu looked very inviting. It was difficult to choose! Really great value and very filling! Sat upstairs which was lovely and quiet and relaxed. It's an interesting old building too. Definitely a good choice if you are visiting Sherborne for any reason.

Lovely little cafe on the main high street that offers a wide selection dishes of top quality. The risotto and hake dishes were superb and the panacotta desert was very yummy indeed! Excellent quality produce and would highly recommend.
Rating: 5 / 5
Really lovely lunch. Great service and fantastic food. Prices were even better!
Rating: 5 / 5
The BEST hollandaise sauce I have had in years, rich and creamy. I had almost written off eggs benedict as I was fed up with vinegary sauce and had all but decided I had imagined how yummy it was when I was a child. My faith is restored!! The staff were lovely and friendly too. Definitely a treasure!

Firstly the food is always delicious, lemon cake to die for and the service is always fabulous and friendly. Myself and my teen daughter have been in quite a few times recently with our puppy and the staff are always lovely and attentive. Today I had an unfortunate experience with another customer, our puppy got a bit upset when my daughter went to the toilet and was whimpering and barked a few times. I tried my best to comfort him and calm him down and turned to the table behind me to apologise and the lady was extremely rude and told me I shouldn’t be in a cafe with the puppy then continued to moan and grumble about it to her husband so that I could hear. Having had a bad few days and being unwell, I got quite upset and was going to leave because I was feeling so anxious. The staff came over to me and were really lovely and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and found us another table, and checked on me multiple times to make sure I was okay and comfort me. So thank you to the staff, we will be back, along with Milo the puppy.

Fantasies couple of days. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Service was impeccable, and they even made up a small plate for me as I don't eat much. The food is amazing, and the chef is very talented. The bed was very comfy and the rooms were beautifully decorated . Had the most amazing massage in the spa, which was very inviting and relaxing. Definitely recommended. The receptionist was very friendly and welcomed any feedback we had. 5 stars.

What an amazing hotel. Top marks to all the staff who are very professional, helpful and friendly. Fantastic room with a kitchenette which makes life so much easier. A great selection for breakfast, including cooked and cold options. Definitely deserves the five stars.
Rating: 5 / 5
This was my first visit and I was very impressed. Lovely decor, very light and airy. Comfortable chairs Nd lots of room on the tables. I had a full English breakfast which was fabulous and hot! We went for my son's birthday and when the server realised he brought out some muffins with 'Happy Birthday' written in chocolate on the plate which was a lovely touch. The service was excellent, the young man was really friendly and helpful as was the receptionist when we arrived. We had my three year old Granddaughter with us and they were very accommodating, we could choose anything from the breakfast menu in a child size portion. I will definitely visit again and recommend.

I’ve visited this hotel many times, and it’s always a treat. The food is simply delicious – every meal feels crafted with care. The spa offers a wonderful range of treatments that leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, perfect for a bit of pampering. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, making it easy to settle in and relax. Plus, it’s dog-friendly, which makes it a perfect getaway for the whole family, furry friends included! The best part, though, is the staff – they are so helpful and welcoming, always going the extra mile to make every stay feel special. Highly recommended!

Farm and Field Cafe
West St, South Petherton TA13 5DJ, UK | Cafe P: 01460 242775
Rating: 4.3 (394) Price Level:
A gorgeous cafe & restaurant with stunning views. I came for a Halloween themed quiz & since this one, they’re going to do monthly quizzes now. The food is delicious, you can eat in or takeaway. I had the loaded curly fries which were so tasty and filling (£16, worth every penny). The staff in the cafe are all lovely, friendly people who will go the extra mile to make sure customers are happy. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and service. The atmosphere is brilliant - the decor is so creative with plants and wall art. There is also a beautiful wedding venue next door to the cafe which is part of the same business. A stunning, large open space with an upstairs balcony and gorgeous views. It’s clear they’ve recently touched up the place and look after it as the toilets are so modern and clean.
Rating: 4 / 5
Good food, well presented and tasty. Excellent service. But the restaurant completely lacked atmosphere, the cafe was far more attractive and interesting. The restaurant was very echoy and even with only a few guests was noisy. A pity as that let down and excellent venue
