Margot has been running her cafe from this site about 8 years,so I have been many times in i think the last 7+ years... I live around 150 miles away, and hadn't been here since Christmas... So I got down about 06.30 this morning and had table booked for 09.30..... I can not fault this cafe,I tend to have the Spire Hill Grill and I have yet to have a bad bit of any meal. With the ever increase in cost of living,I was expecting it to be more expensive than Christmas 2022...but nope, same price, and I think it is amazing quality for a very reasonable price. I was with family that live in Dorset and visit this fantastic cafe often....in fact my sister was in the day before also. The staff are lovely...Margot (owner) is a true professional and has built her business up over the years, take look at the website, and the produce that have, home made jams etc etc,I understand they now have some of the produce selling in a local shop. The customers in the cafe are also friendly, and seem to know each other.... I did a review on TaT before, and I'm doing this update as and edit,my original is below. We had pot of tea and three coffees...the little milk bottles, the glass teapot are just examples of some of the things they do differently...and it all goes to show the love Margot has for food and service to her customers (friends) The head chef Eve (pink shorts ;) ) is also a little star, and has been with TaT from being tutored from as an apprentice to becoming head chef... And is a credit to Margot and to catering... We came away with a couple of pieces of home made cakes....and will enjoy later. I know before I arrive that the experience will be all I could reasonably expect, and could only ever leave a rate of 5 star.... Anything less...I'm my view is unjust. My original review below Brilliant cafe,I always try to visit when in area,it's a lovely place, great food, and staff are greatest

We stopped off here for breakfast at the end of a weekend away as we’d heard from our hosts that they did good food and were dog friendly. The food was delicious and great value. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and we managed to pick up a couple of early Xmas presents for hampers as a bonus! Would highly recommend.

Fabulous cakes (not just the usual) including a gooseberry cake with meringue, all genuinely homemade: unique atmosphere: incredible welcome from Petr on a typical English summer day… pouring with rain! But outside ( on a different day) charming setting and great views plus wildlife pond. Not too mention beautiful hand made quilts for sale… very tempting on a chill June afternoon !

what a wonderful find! lovely simple food. Friendly Petr and lady in the curiosity shop. well worth a visit.

This is, literally, in my top 10 places in the whole of England. It's the combination of the wonderful Petra, her delicious food and spectacular home-made cakes, the glorious higgledy-piggledy garden and gorgeous views (or covered area if it's raining), the cards and crafts, the vintage quilts and antiques next door... But more than anything, the place is suffused with soul, and love. I find myself a happier person whenever we swing by. If Starbuck's is your thing, then PetrAnnette's cafe may not be for you, but if you revel in the one-off, the independent, the joyful and the dappled, then, like me, you will be in heaven. Petra, you are The Best. x Jon

A little piece of Dorset heaven. The atmosphere of rural charm, the diversion of the vintage shop and the great food, cakes and tea make this one of my favourite spots.

Holiday stop & family rendezvous for lunch. We arrived right on 2pm to be told food service was closing. Bar staff were superb and sorted out with kitchen staff to continue service for us. Food was superb (kids pizza and fish & chips for adults). Pub atmosphere inside and outside was great. Staff and service was great.

Went here for dinner on a weekend away with friends. Arrived about 4pm and had a wait until 5:30 for food so had some drinks and played some card games in the bar, we were then moved through to the restaurant where we had three absolutely delicious courses; the portions were huge and everything was very well seasoned and cooked. The bar staff were amazing and kind throughout, and to top it off when we were looking to leave we asked if there was a local taxi number and were told unfortunately not, but that one of the bar staff would take us home instead. Needless to say that is massively above and beyond anything we expected and we are so incredibly grateful to both Shannon and the lovely lady who drove us home (whose name we didn't get - sorry!!) For looking after us tonight. Can't recommend Green Man enough :)

Lovely welcome, good service and great food. I had mushroom, spinach and butternut squash risotto, which was superb. My partner had cod and chips which he said was very nice. Would definitely eat here again if in the area.

Visited again recently. A popular fave for us! I had a lovely Venison dish which is quite rare to find and hubby had a very nice Chunky Venison Chilli and one of our group had Steak which he said was cooked perfectly. The Dates in Mustard Sauce (starter) were very nice and lovely desserts. Staff always super welcoming and attentive.

This shop is very useful, it opening times are very handy. It has a Good Post Office & Cash Machine inside. Due to small area it does well to display so many items, the only down side is the narrow walkways. Apart from that, great bargains on food and drink. Small but good frozen section. Staff are always polite when serving. Although in a pedestrian area, there is ample parking 50yards away.

We had drinks, dinner and then stayed over in our motorhome and it was absolutely wonderful! The food was exceptional, the service was excellent and the pub and beer garden are great. We were made to feel very welcome and would definitely recommend!

The pubs staff were friendly and funny, not just robots and also not too cheeky it becomes weird. The portions were the size youd give yourself at a buffet. The price was fine. And the menu had a decent selection. I had the pie and it almost had more stake than my girlfriends ribeye. Highly recommend.

I have driven past this pub on more occasions than I could probably mention and always said must try that one. Well today was the day and so pleased that I did! I can honestly say this was one of the best (if not the best) pub food I have ever had. Our table of four all had different dishes and every single one was outstanding quality with a generous portion. Personally I opted for the ploughman's asking for it without the meat element which wasn't a problem at all. An excellent selection, fresh and tasty. I would highly recommend booking, even for lunch, as it was busy, and it's really not surprising why. The service was friendly and a good pub atmosphere made it a great experience and all at a fair price too. This will most definitely not be the last visit to this highly recommended Dorset pub. If you haven't been then add it to your 'must visit' list, but don't leave it as long as I did.

We went there yesterday as a group of 15 and they were absolutely brilliant. We had the skittle alley to ourselves so the kids could play with the selection of toys in there which worked perfectly. We had a variety of meals across the table and everyone said how delicious it was. The pork belly bites as a starter were a definite stand out. Thank you to all the lovely team who served us.

Cosy and intimate, this family run cafe is an oasis of calm and an excellent place to recharge between the myriad gifting opportunities of Sturminster Newton’s high street. We came for the car show, headed in for a quick coffee, and felt such a warm welcome, we stayed for scones. Thank you for making us feel so at home.

Lovely little tea room in the Heart of the town, amazing afternoon tea, a varied choice of delicious sandwiches mini pies & quiche, followed by light plain or fruit scones jam & clotted cream and a delicious selection of home baked cakes, a pot of tea or coffee to wash it all down! Amazing value, very friendly & obliging staff, I thoroughly recommend a try if looking for afternoon tea.

This place is located at the top of Gold Hill with beautiful views over the valley. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the benches outside to soak in the beautiful views. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The menu had plenty of of options and the food was really tasty. If you’re a tourist looking for the feel of England, then definitely come here!

Small plates, order at least 3 each and share, great selection and good quality. Dog friendly every where in the restaurant. I found it a bit complicated, it's a bit like Spanish Tapas and our total bill was around £70 it soon mounts up.
Rating: 5 / 5
What a surprise treat! I visited this restaurant with family when staying in the area for a weekend away, and what a gorgeous find this was! Situated right in the heart of Sherborne (which is a charming town to visit regardless) this restaurant was just fabulous. The menu was fab, tapas dishes inspired by Italy but using West Country produce - what's not to love! Staff were friendly and accommodating, the drinks selection was vast and impressive and the food quality was truly 10/10. Would definitely be back if I lived closer! This place gets very busy over weekend so definitely book in advance, and also would recommend arriving for an earlier sitting rather than later before it gets too busy.
Rating: 5 / 5
An incredible meal at the plume! We were turned away from another restaurant despite having a reservation, but when we came to the Plume they were happy to help and sat us promptly. The meal was absolutely delicious and filled us up nicely. We had 6 dishes between 4 adults and were stuffed! The service was great and the atmosphere was so lovely.
Rating: 5 / 5
Lovely late lunch. Quality food and friendly, accommodating staff. The outside looks fairly drab and some of the Italian signage is slightly incongruous (are Wadsworths synonymous with Italian dining? No), but don't be put off, the inside is far, far better with modern styling in a traditional setting. Not cheap but where is these days.

It is a long time since I tasted East Asian food this good. I will certainly be going back on a regular basis. Highly recommended.
