The Monmouth Ash has a really cosy atmosphere, making it a very pleasant place to eat. The menu is not huge, but the choices available are all top quality. Prices are a little higher than we were hoping for, but not ridiculously high, and they were definitely justified by the quality of the food. The staff are very friendly, courteous and inviting. We'd definitely go back there if we're in the area again.

Just had our Xmas day lunch at the Monmouth. And guys you did yourselves proud!. It was delicious, and plentiful. Crispy Roasties, moist Turkey, the Trimmings, and loads of different vegetables, it was awesome. Starters were tasty, and it finished off with a lovely pud. Staff were fab, and worked really hard to keep us fed and watered, & they all were great fun. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Food was lovely, it’s my second time going. First I can say was better than the second. Unfortunately a gentleman got ill so I felt the attention to diners was taken away. Waiter wasn’t into it (obviously flapping about gentleman) and food (Pie) came out with tough pastry. Didn’t really get a chance to say owt as plates were whisked away. Service was definitely slow but we understood why. Just didn’t feel we got what we paid for food wise.

Hadn't been here for a while, but will definitely go back again soon. We both had the Irish beef and Guinness stew with mash and warm chunky bread. It was amazing. It was very filling but still found room for the crumble and custard. Host very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. A real country pub.

Went here for Sunday lunch as a party of six. We sat in the marquee. We were impressed with the service and food. I had the roast pork and roast lamb. There was roast beef as well. I had the Apple and berry crumble, which was delicious too. There is plenty of free parking. I would recommend this place for Sunday roast.

The Old Thatch in Stapehill, Wimborne, Dorset, a 17th century pub which sits directly opposite historic Stapehill Abbey has a very warm and welcoming feel to it, from the roaring fireplace to the friendly smiling staff. My wife and I decided to try this place out as we had heard great things, and we were not disappointed. We had not booked, but the staff found us a lovely cosy corner next the fire. The seating was very comfy and I could have stayed all afternoon. The staff was very attentive and a drinks order placed within a few minutes of sitting down. After a quick study of the menu the waitress brought over the drinks order and took our food order. The starter arrived in good time and it tasted fantastic, fresh and full of flavour, once finished the waitress wasted no time in clearing our plates and again the main course arrive shortly after hot and freshly cooked. The mains were perfect, the pie was great and the vegetables cooked to perfection, crisp and full of colour. The deserts followed and again food heaven. So what does this place score for us. Atmosphere, 5 stars Service, 5 stars Food quality, 5 stars Price, 5 Stars

Have had a couple of Saturday evenings at The Old Thatch recently. Lovely food (Venison pie, fish pie and apple & berry crumble with custard), efficient and friendly service and accommodating to a large friendly dog, who was happy to receive gravy bones and a bowl of water. Good beer, including real ale on tap. Busy, but everyone seemed to be having such a good time - so much to recommend and will definitely be back there again soon. Thank you for your hospitality x

23 of us had a Christmas menu lunch after a local walk in morning. Fran and Mya + chef gave us excellent service. Food was good and hot . A few more veg for some dishes would have been appreciated. A good day and happy social occasion.

Visited here twice in one day! Cannot speak of The Horton Inn more highly. We came back the same day as we had been let down by an AirBNB in Bournemouth on the first day of our holiday. The kitchen at the Horton Inn was inundated with orders, close to the end of serving, but the staff went out of their way to accommodate a tired, fed-up family of three. Really lovely staff, incredible food, a friendly atmosphere, perfect location and a definite third return from us. Hopefully an overnight stay too!

Very pleasant countryside pub. Although given its location, it can be very busy. Plenty of room inside and out. Can recommend an outside table when the weather is hot. Nice selection of beers. I had Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker and Flack Manor Double Drop, very nice they were too

Was passing by today on our travels and decided to stop for lunch. We are so thankful we did. The staff were lovely, very friendly, food came fast and perfectly cooked, great atmosphere, couldn't fault a thing, even the music was great! We didn't want to leave! Will be stopping again on our way back through.

Impulsive stop for supper at this presentable & welcoming country pub/hotel was repaid by friendly, efficient customer service, and thoughtfully prepared and presented meals. Both the pork steak and the half chicken dishes couldn't be faulted. We were delighted by the whole experience. Good choice of well maintained beers was icing on our cake! Highly recommended!

The Three Legged Cross

Ringwood Rd, Three Legged Cross, Wimborne BH21 6RE, UK | Pub
P: 01202 826052

Rating: 4.3 (1698) Price Level:

A very homely and spacious pub with beautifully presented food. However, 3 of the starters came out cold and had to be sent back to the kitchen, they were particularly officiant at resolving this issue. We had a group of 11 pre-booked in advance; food came out in reasonable time. Waiters were very attentive and it was a lovely atmosphere.

We had a lovely pre booked weekday family meal here (4 Adults, 2 children) whilst away on holiday in the new forest. We were greeted at the bar as we walked in and promptly shown to our table. The lady serving our table was very nice and very helpful when asked for information about the menu. We ordered our drinks which were almost instantly delivered to us. The menu has a good variety to suit most, Food was brought out fairly quickly and was of a high standard and I would highly recommend the beef and red wine lasagna. Very clean and well kept. Easy access by car with plenty of parking available I felt it was priced well for the high quality of food and brilliant service (not cheap but not massively expensive). Definitely would recommend and definitely would visit again.

Lovely old English country pub with a great cosy feel inside. I expect the open fires are kit on cold evenings and there are some really comfy looking armchairs and sofas. The public are side was empty so difficult to gauge atmosphere but the restaurant side was buzzing lunchtime on a Tuesday midday. I onlyhadaquickpint so. wasn't offered a menu so didn't see the food selection. Judging by the amount of people thr food is good.. lots of parking front and rear.

Lovely pub with log fire (in use) plenty of parking, large beer garden and good choice of drinks. We had a light lunch, fish finger sandwiches, beef brisket and small snacks for our 1 year old. Food was very nice and fairly quick, lovely staff, although more choice for a light lunch would be nice, perhaps more sandwiches or something homemade like sauces for dipping. Definitely recommend, dogs also welcome!

We have just met some friends for Sunday lunch at The Cockerel. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We had a lovely table that was not crowded or too close to other people. The Sunday roast was excellent. Beautifully cooked beef, six veg , roast potatoes and an enormous Yorkshire pudding. The vegetarian option was a mushroom and spinach wellington which was really tasty. We all had sweets which were equally good. We will definitely make the trip out to this fantastic pub again. Thank you

The Cockerel is an absolutely pub located out the back of wimbourne. It’s nicely hidden away but a lovely location to be. The pubs service was amazing, the bar tender was funny and charismatic and was a joy to be served by. The food was incredible, great prices and really tasty! There was also a fire on for the duration of our meal which gave the pub a really nice atmosphere. The pub is quite small so make sure to book in advance!

BEAR - Wimborne

71 High St, Wimborne Minster, Wimborne BH21 1HS, UK | Coffee Shop
P: 01202 160111

Rating: 4.3 (42) Price Level:

Came here for some breakfast. The full breakfast was really enjoyable. Whilst they don’t serve beans (which would’ve been better) they do serve a Shakshouka which was still a nice alternative. The menu is varied and offers a nice change from the usual breakfast spots in Wimborne. The coffee was also very fresh and quite nice. But quite pricey, but they do offer a less costly option. Service was friendly and quick. It would be nice to be able to order at the table instead of the bar but that’s just a nitpick. The overall atmosphere was nice. I’d recommend booking as it did get quite busy.

very lovely new addition to Wimborne, decorated beautifully and the atmosphere is nice and chilled out. Really appreciate that brunch is served all day and the food was fresh and super tasty! I do prefer just plain old beans to the shakshuka pot offering but that’s me being boring. The cinnamon roll latte special was delish too. Staff really welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be back to try more menu options :) thank you !

Came in here to try as we notice it was new and we had a lovely time. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the layout was very pretty. I had the shakshuka which was 9/10 just the poached egg wasn’t cooked great and the tomato base was a little bland but otherwise really enjoyed. It was a bit of a shame to see people on their laptops as it really takes the vibe away from the cafe of people chatting. These two small things are the only reason for not 5 stars. My mum had smashed avo with butternut squash and it was GORG beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Drinks were very lovely as well. It’s great to see an up and coming place and it’s understandable for there to be minor teething issues but we will definitely be back to try the rest of the very interesting and creative menu. Thank you!!

The pub is under new management. Decent sized car park. Despite signs at the entrance warning you to register your car at reception or risk a penalty charge, you no longer have to do that. Perhaps they should take the signs down? We pre-booked over the telephone and this was doing using an AI program. Sat in the corner of the large dining space which was well lit. A few candles dotted around for "atmosphere ". Drinks order was taken immediately and soon arrived. Abbot Ale was fine. Food was fairly quickly ordered with a wait as the kitchens were busy. Meal arrived in good order. Steak and Ale pie was heavy on gravy light on meat. Nevertheless a proper plateful. The manager was keen to point out a new dogs' garden facility he had just created. Would I go again? Yes.

We visited the Fox & Hounds today with family (5 of us) for an early festive meal and were not disappointed! Our first visit in over 40 years and the whole place has been re-decorated and fitted out to a very high standard while keeping the nice warm & traditional feel an establishment like this deserves. We were greeted and well looked after throughout by their friendly staff. We all made selections from the festive menu and the food was well prepared and presented and very tasty. The location is brilliant for us when getting together with family so we will certainly be returning.

Dog friendly with a large enclosure for your dog to run around in, there is water and toys for them to enjoy. The food is lovely and well presented we had a family birthday party there with two pets and was given an area at the Saied because of the dogs or we can go outside.. I felt it may have been slightly understaffed as it took awhile to clear our plates apart from that we enjoyed our visit and loved the dog enclosure (even the dog treats they gave us)
