Café Solo

Rating: 4.5 (740) Price Level:

I was really impressed with cafe solo. We went there for breakfast and I really couldn't fault the food - I wanted a good fry up and that's exactly what I got. The milkshake here is also some of the best I've had around Canterbury, actually made using ice cream with a dollop of cream on top. The only reason I haven't put 5 stars for the food is because it didn't wow me like my other 5 star reviews, but it was still very decent. The staff were super friendly but gave us the space we wanted to eat together, the space was clean, and we were even surprised with complimentary Turkish delight. Overall, would recommend. They have a small carpark, but there are supermarkets nearby.

Me and my friends stopped by this lovely restaurant for lunch and it was absolutely amazing. The guy who served was so polite and the environment was so friendly. Cute interior giving out retro vibes. The food was in hearty portions and the cappuccino was out of my expectation! The froth was perfect and airy with the chocolate powder dusted evenly on top. I highly recommend this place if you want something simple but delicious.

If Google could do more than 5 stars this place would get it. Upon arriving I got welcomed at the front door and seated. I think it’s a family run business because they take pride in everything they do. Food was wonderful Staff polite Cafe very clean There’s only two cafe’s I would take my wife too and this is one of them.

My family and I had a lovely breakfast in this cafe. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, special shout out to Megan 1.0 for looking after us so beautifully. I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo of my vegetarian breakfast (which was delicious). So I took this one off the outside seating area :)

The Corner House

1 Dover St, Canterbury CT1 3HD, UK | Restaurant
P: 01227 780793

Rating: 4.7 (971) Price Level:

We had Sunday Roast here. The chicken was grilled to perfection. The beef was also very tasty but one piece tasted like lamb(?). Portions not that big, but in the end big enough. The Lager beer tasted like a top fermented beer but was good. Dessert then really made this meal perfect, especially the sticky toffee pudding! Coffee a bit too acidic for my taste.

Went for lunch with my Mum, excellent service and very good value set menu. I had the flat iron steak with a side of delicious chips. Unfortunately my steak was overdone, I asked for medium but it was well done-I didn't mention it at the time-i'm sure they would have made me another if I made a fuss, but it was still OK. Mum had fish pie which she enjoyed. Treacle tart for desert was very good.

Some of the best dishes I have ever tasted. A beautiful setting, attentive staff. Great wine list with plenty of affordable options by the glass, designed for experimentation. But the food is by far the brightest star. The savoury blue cheese cheesecake with beetroot jam is the most stunning dish I have tasted this year; and the flavour will be something I remember for years to come. Everything was excellent, but also deserving of special mention was the dark chocolate torte with hazelnuts blackberry sorbet. A stunning mixture of flavours, executed perfectly.

Amazing restaurant and beautiful local produce market! The food at the restaurant was really fancy and absolutely delicious! Every meal was a real experience! They use local and seasonal ingredients sourced directly from the market. We ordered a 3-course meal which was definitely pricey but perfect for a celebration or special occasion. The staff a very attentive and very well organised. Booking a table is best as it gets very busy. The market is also very charming with fresh local veg, fish, meat, juice, cheese and other wonderful finds. Highly recommend and can't wait to be back!

Lovely place to dine or shop from local businesses - all in close proximity to the train station. We seemed to have visited on a particularly busy day, as they only had one table available for walk-ins (us). The kitchen seemed a bit overwhelmed as our food took forever to arrive, and we ended up dining there for 2.5 hours. Something to keep in mind if you're on a tight schedule. The food was great! We really enjoyed the confit pork belly, and we thought the mint butter paired really well with the pink fir potatoes. Didn't realise the 'roast chicken' was a salad when we ordered, but it was still pretty good.

Tiny Tim's Tearoom

Rating: 4.6 (1154) Price Level:

Quirky Super place, first time customer and we're be returning next time we are in Canters. Staff were excellent, friendly, professional and the service received was top notch. Teas were really nice, certainly different and there was plenty for two cups. Scones were of a good standard although one totally fell into pieces. Jam and butter were superb. £35 for 2 x teas, 1 x coffee & 3 x scones. Expensive, maybe, but was quality 👍

Was visiting with a friend and hopped in for some afternoon tea, the staff were so helpful with advising us about portion sizes and I can say- they were right! One serving of afternoon tea was more than enough between the two of us. The Raspberry Apple scone was delicious and so large we almost couldn’t finish it, and the finger sandwiches were so fresh with classic fillings! We got the Tiny Tim’s House-blend for our tea and loved it. Overall, Cosy Interiors, great food and excellent service:))

Busy Bank Holiday weekend, garden full even at 12:30 I told my friend to book just in case and glad we did. I've eaten here on a number of occasions and never been disappointed. Today was no exception, the staff are friendly and the food is generally a high standard, not too cheap but good portions and tasty sauces, whatever some negative reviewers might say. I first came here in the early 1980's when it was a much smaller pub with a small counter by the corner and people playing domino's and shove Ha penny at the bar or cribbage! It's got bags of character and simple seating with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Be sure to ring and book just in case! Great place to start or end a walk from! Often full of walkers and cyclists as well as car trade! Small car park at rear of property, if you have elderly or disabled guests drop them off before parking as the pub is located overlooking the former quarry pits in the valley below!

Old pub, new management. We came along unannounced on a dark winter’s evening and had a very warm welcome - not only from the new owners but from their 3-dog entourage (a pointer, ‘Smartie’, and an accompanying duo of dachshunds). I had a burger and unusually was asked how I would like it, like they do in France with steak haché, which was a nice touch. It was extremely good, chunky pickled gherkins and all. My partner enjoyed a crispy chunk of salmon too. We wish The Old Yew Tree much luck!

Marlowe's Restaurant

Rating: 4.5 (574) Price Level:

Great Little restaurant right around the corner from the theatre and the cathedral. We popped in for dinner and had the duck breast and wild mushroom risotto. Both were perfectly prepared and the presentation was top notch as well. The kids had burgers and even those weren't small little burgers - proper portions. The host was very friendly and accommodated us even though we didn't have a reservation. Good service overall. Overall, I was extremely impressed with the Marlowe's. The prices was also very reasonable given the portions and quality of the food. I'll definitely visit again when I'm in Canterbury again.

We are staying in Canterbury and were completely thrilled with the food and service and atmosphere at The Lady Luck! The vegan choices were so many and difficult to choose - all sounded amazing! The music and atmosphere is everything we were looking for after a chilly December hike. This pub does not disappoint!

Tea Cafe (Canterbury)

Rating: 4.5 (38) Price Level:

I recently visited Tea Cafe, 5-7,Canterbury and had an absolutely wonderful experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is charming, with cozy seating and a relaxing ambiance. The tea and coffee selection is impressive, offering a wide variety of both classic and unique blends. I opted for their signature cappuccino and it was hands down the best I’ve ever had—perfectly creamy. My friend tried the Earl grey tea, which was fresh and vibrant, with a rich flavor that was truly delightful. I suggest to all my relatives and friends to visit over there. I will definitely returning soon.

The restaurant itself is nicely spaced out with an upstairs too. I’ll definitely be back!

Café No.35

35 St Margaret's St, Canterbury CT1 2TG, UK | Restaurant
P: 01227 637300

Rating: 4.5 (179) Price Level:

We came in for breakfast because this cafe has vegan options. I had the Vegetarian No. 35 breakfast and replaced the egg with tofu to make it vegan. The vegan sausages were lovely! When the breakfast came, the waiter made a point of telling me that the pot of butter was a non dairy spread that came with the slice of toast, which I really appreciated. I had read reviews saying they sometimes have vegan croissants, and luckily, they had one left. It wasn't listed on the table menus, so you have to ask. It was the most beautiful wholemeal blueberry vegan croissant. I was surprised at how flakey it was, considering it was a wholemeal version. Delicious! My husband ordered the Stack No. 35 breakfast bun, which he enjoyed. Two pots of English Breakfast tea later and we were full. The café is spacious inside and comfortable. I will definitely be coming again.

The decor and vibe of the place is very welcoming, and the service was impeccable. I ordered the set 2, which was great value for about 8 quid considering it includes tea and toast/bread. Every part of the meal was cooked perfectly and the ingredients are good quality. Sausage was nice and herby too which is just how they should be. Will definitely come again more regularly to support such a well-run establishment with superb food and value.
