King + Guild

P: 01227 787988

Rating: 4.2 (672) Price Level:

If I could I'd give 3.5 pr 3.75 stars. I had a hot chocolate which looked great, but tasted mostly syrupy and less like a creamy hot chocolate. The service is solid and the location is great. The vibe of the place seems chill and inviting with plenty of light. I'm sure this place is much busier, louder with longer waits in the summer months. That may be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. All in all, I'd certainly recommend a stop in, atleast to try the hot chocolate on a cold day like I did.

The Dolphin

St Radigunds St, Canterbury CT1 2AA, UK | Pub
P: 01227 455963

Rating: 4.4 (1217) Price Level:

Nice pub that does food. It is an old building, so expect to squeeze past people when busy. The service is good when the bar staff are paying attention and not chatting amongst themselves! I did see some wait 5 plus mins to get a drink. Food is good, but some let downs, don't bother with the baked alaska, it was terrible, like burnt shaving foam topping a bath sponge. Genuinely gross. The rest of the food was good. There are locals at this pub, bless 'em. You will get the typical bar flies talking guff, it's all part of the 'charm'. Honestly worth a visit, manage your expectations.

This gastro pub is a must if you're in Canterbury. We come every year for the Christmas roast, ordered the trio of turkey, beef, gammon with literally all the trimmings (and added cauliflower cheese and extra pigs in blankets). Relaxed service, beautiful food, see you next Christmas!

Loved it! Made reservations at the Parrot but we were late and they gave our table away. I am so glad because this place was so fun and delicious. The staff made it even more amazing. They were packed but quickly pulled a table and chairs to accommodate us. If you're in town you have to go to the Dolphin.

Was Tuesday dinnertime so quiet in pub. Staff were friendly, bringing a bowl of water out for the dog, without asking. Dogs obviously more then welcome anywhere in pub. Food was brought out quickly and hot. Good size portion. Phone was ringing throughout taking booking so obviously a popular venue. Would use again if in area

We arrived at the Olive Grove after a hectic day and rather stressful day. It was a Friday evening, we hadn't booked but fortunately the lady who greeted us made us feel instantly at ease. The decor is superb and the staff were great, the food we ate was delicious. Will definitely visit again next time in town. Thank you very much guys!

Really lovely place! A friend of mine recommended the place to me and I checked it out! Great coffee, I had a white mocha with hazelnut syrup and oat milk (amazingly made, and tasted great), and I had this really tasty granola bowl with yogurt, oats, strawberries, raspberries and some other tasty fruit (10/10 mix, I asked for some cinnamon and maple syrup to add and it was exceptional to me). Really cool vibe to the place, and was really impressed by the miniature train set they have towards the back. Shout out to rachel for her kind service and the male staff with glasses (he actually built the train set himself! Really impressive). I’ll definitely be back, highly recommend!

Coming here in the morning to get my iced flat white was the highlight of my day because of Brouk. Not only did he make the best coffees anywhere in Canterbury, he was also friendly, funny, and able to wait on 10 people at a time efficiently. Thank you, Brouk!

Though this is a small Nero, the staff are wonderful and friendly, the drinks are well made, and the coffee is always fresh. As it is on the Uni Kent campus, it also has a lovely coffee shop/ bookstore vibe and is in the same building as Blackwell's Books. I highly recommend you grab your next cuppa here if you visit the University of Kent campus.

Found this place almost by accident. It's down the far end of the city, near to the West Tower. Clean, cosy & welcoming. Friendly staff, well spaced tables. Clean toilets too, always a plus! Had tea & a large slab of coffee cake, which was rather delectable! Very nice pit-stop. Will visit again.

Service was flawless- always checking in and being attentive - it’s the first time in a long time that I’ve had such good service! Hats off to (I’m sorry I think their hand was Bryan!) either way- fantastic food! Fantastic service and a great atmosphere. (Please excuse the picture! OVERVIEW Korea marinades Texas on the grill; worth a try for the BBQ meat lover! ADVICE * The “Smokehouse BBQ Board” for two is really for 3! With a side dish each, it was more than enough to fulfil and satisfy. PLUS + Authentic, unique, and eclectic menu. + The “Smokehouse BBQ Board” was delicious at a 4* level. Each cut of meat had a distinct flavourful seasoning. + The “Korean BBQ Sausage” was the most flavourful and tender sausage I have ever had! + The “Cowgirl Salad” was at a 5* level. A dynamic crunch of fresh and crispy vegetables coated in a soy marinade, perfectly balanced with orange slices. + The “Award Winning Cherry Bbq St Louis Char Siu Ribs” tasted like an award, with its unique sweet and savoury flavour. + The “Spicy Miso Ramen” was just ok as it was bland but plentiful, table of two consensus. + The “Bao Doughnut” was a must try! An eclectic and surprising combination that worked delightfully well. + Formally welcoming and genuinely friendly staff, always smiling! + Modern intimate interior that complemented the type of food served. + Walk-in dinner time availability. MINUS - The meat board could have included side dishes to balance the “meatiness”. - The "Texas Style Smoked Turkey" was dry and underseasoned, table of two consensus. - Overpriced menu, in addition to a 12.5% service charge tops London prices. - They do not accommodate meal alterations. - The restaurant could benefit from a quick, hassle-free table QR code payment method, i.e., the "Sunday" payments app. ORDER HISTORY Mains: * Smokehouse BBQ Board (for two) * Award Winning Cherry Bbq St Louis Char Siu Ribs * Spicy Miso Ramen Sides: * Cowgirl Salad * Rice * Kimchi Dessert: * Bao Doughnut

This place is a mixture of Korean and Texan barbecue and the food is awesome. They have blended both styles and created some fantastic food. The chicken wings are as a great the pulled pork. I would recommend trying the platter which gives you a selection of meats. One of the best restaurants I have been to anywhere. It all seems to just work.

Burgate Coffee House

43 Burgate, Canterbury CT1 2HW, UK | Coffee Shop
P: 01227 764946

Rating: 4.2 (277) Price Level:

Sat in a for a late lunch, ordered a gluten free pesto chicken sandwich and an iced oat chai latte. My friend got the grilled cheese with a flat white. Felt as though 15 quid was a bit expensive for my order - until the food was served! The sandwiches are massive and both my friend and I kept half for dinner. We both really enjoyed our meals! The staff were warm and welcoming, the cafe was relatively quiet for a Saturday at 12:45pm. There were a variety of cakes available as well, with a fair amount of gluten free and vegan options available. Staff clarified whether my gluten free sandwich order was due to an allergy or a preference. Overall, would recommend, especially for those with a gluten intolerance!

We were desperate for a good coffee and a local suggested this place. Located near the entrance to the cathedral (which was packed with students of all ages on excursions), we nestled into a table and ordered our long awaited our coffee. Looking at the soup a fellow diner was having I was somewhat jealous. Next time! Loved the quirkiness of this place with fun and interesting signage, cute decor and funky ambience. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good location. Lovely staff. We will return.
