Lovely place to learn how to play golf. The 9 holes give you a challenge with sone narrow fairways. The greens are in a good condition, considering the heatwave

My daughters have been going here for a few lessons now and will continue to do so. Ponies are lovely, staff is lovely, and I feel for a beginner this is a lovely, relaxed and friendly place to learn to ride. Instructors are encouraging and there are not too many children on lessons, meaning my children get a lot out of each lesson, feel happy and relaxed, and look forward to going back! Even my husband has had a go at riding now, encouraged by the relaxed atmosphere of the stables. I am an experienced rider myself and have lessons here too. It depends what you are looking for... if you are looking for a relaxed, friendly school in beautiful surroundings, then I would highly recommend Dudmoor Farm. The only exception is, if you are looking for more advanced riding instruction and are an advanced rider, I don’t think most of the horses use to being worked at that level. But again it depends on what you are looking for, and we have certainly been more than happy with it.

I've been to a lot of riding schools over the years, and Dudmoor is up there with some of the best. We've recently moved to Bournemouth from Hertfordshire. We tried another riding stables a few weeks ago but it was dirty, the horses run-down and the teacher not very good. I thought I'd be looking a while to find a decent school, but Dudmoor Farm is wonderful. For a start, it's immaculate. It's set in lovely grounds, the stables are clean and (amazingly for a riding school) even the toilet is clean. Most importantly of all though, the staff are so friendly and attentive. I've found over the years that riding schools often fall into two camps - shoddy but down-to-earth or slick but snobby. This school seems to offer the best of both worlds - lovely facilities and friendly staff. My daughter is quite shy and takes some cajoling - but the girl who taught her was brilliant. She is the first person who's properly made sure she keeps holding her reins correctly and actually taught her, rather than letting her jog round without instructing her on anything of value. She was an amazing teacher and didn't stop talking or encouraging the two riders throughout the duration of the lesson. I was incredibly impressed. We'll definitely be returning to this riding school as they're a glowing example of how to run a business.

Not exactly a pristine course, but a great little golf course for beginners. No pressure environment. Friendly staff

Rating: 5 / 5

Great little golf course friendly staff, course is kept up to a good standard the ground staff make the most of a short course played numerous times and always found challenging enough to keep attention even on second time round to play 18. Inexpensive to play and if teaching your nipper to hit a ball no pressure. Only issue is if you are reasonable player playing as pair you catch others quickly and they seldom let you play through can be frustrating.

Lovely golf club, super clubhouse, today the fairways and greens were about as good as you can get at this time of the year, very tight so if you are a bit wayward beware of the trees. I wasn't and paid the penalty. Ouch.

We always make a point of driving 2.5hrs to play this gem of a golf course every year. It is a fantastic golf course and in great condition, there are many challenges and so many stand out holes. The scenery is stunning , the staff are very friendly and we always enjoy a meal in the clubhouse with those views. Thanks again for a wonderful experience and we look forward to next year and many more to come.

Stunning golf course that will test all your skills and abilities. Pick your tee box wisely. Played here in late July & was able to book a reasonably priced green fee on their website in the afternoon. First impressions in the pro-shop were excellent and that is because we met the manager (apologies I have forgotten your name) who chatted to use and helped us with sorting out an electric buggy and giving help on how to play the first holes to get us started. Wonderful way to start the round, thank you. Isle of Purbeck Golf Club has some stunning views on some great holes, so be prepared to get some amazing photos as you walk the course. If you are walking, be prepared as it is a big course to walk with ups & downs for all 18 holes. The reason for 4* is that we were held up by a 4 ball of tourists who really didn't know how to play at a decent pace or understand that they were holding up play & should have allowed us and another group to play through. There were no course marshals to manage the pace of play. This was quite frustrating. The course was dry and the greens were in good condition, we were lucky enough to play on a warm sunny afternoon, which obviously helped with the positive experience. There are plenty of interesting & different holes on this course. No experience of the clubhouse or the restaurant as we were late finishing our round & needed to leave as soon as we finished. Looking forward to returning.

Ferndown Forest Golf Course & Toptracer Driving Range

Forest Links Rd, Ferndown BH22 9PH, UK | Sports Club
P: 01202 876096

Rating: 4.3 (141) Price Level:

Absolutely stellar experience at this driving range! I've been a frequent visitor lately, and each time leaves me more impressed than the last. The Toptracer technology is great, enhancing the fun and improving my game with precise feedback. What's even better is the flexibility in payment—you pay per basket of balls, so there's no rush to finish. Also, during the week from 8am - 4pm there's no need to book, you only need turn up. Whether it's a post-lunch session or a pre-breakfast swing, this place accommodates perfectly. It has quickly become a top destination for me, and I'll definitely make it a point to swing by whenever I'm in the area. Highly recommend to all golf enthusiasts! Review for yet another breakfast here... I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a Full English Breakfast at The Forest Inn and wow—it was fantastic! As someone who loves a good fry-up, this one truly delivered and set me up perfectly for a great session on the driving range afterward. I went for the Full Dorset Breakfast, priced at £12, and it was worth every penny. It came with two New Forest bacon rashers, two butcher’s pork sausages, eggs cooked to perfection, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns, Heinz baked beans, and delicious Bakehouse24 sourdough toast. Every element of the dish was cooked beautifully and tasted fresh, from the savoury sausages to the perfectly crisp bacon. To top it all off, I had a lovely latte alongside the breakfast. It was smooth, rich, and complemented the meal perfectly—just what I needed to kickstart the day. The portion size was generous, and the quality of the ingredients really stood out. It was the perfect start to the day, filling me up with just the right amount of energy for my golf practice. I highly recommend The Forest Inn if you’re in the area, whether you’re a golfer or not. Their Full Dorset Breakfast is a must-try for anyone who appreciates a hearty and well-executed fry-up.

Visiting from Oop north. Used to Links courses and have also played Ferndown. Really enjoyed the round. Course from tee to green was in great condition. Friendly pro shop. Associate Membership taken (bargain, especially when handicap held elsewhere). Tee off at 07:36. Finish 10:15. I suspect other times of day will be slower. Short course with above average number of par 3's but a good test of golf requiring thoughtful tee shots. Highly recommended.

Not given the course a go yet but have to give a major shoutout to the pro shop and fitting studio they have on site, came in after a few uncertainties about my clubs. Within a few shots the pro Steve who had been monitoring me very quickly picked up the issues I had with my setup and as he brought up, nothing was wrong in the selection I had both head and shaft wise but all it required to get me striking it much more consistently was to set them up 1* flat which instantly made a change in the flight path of the ball and clearly wasn’t trying to push to replace them like many places I’ve been to have. Also gave much comforting guidance without the typical route some people reading the text book as any golfer is not going to swing or setup the same. All this service including the club adjustments came to a very respectful price, highly recommend them if you’re around this area looking to be fitted or simply after some good advice on your golf game or equipment.

Really surprised at how good the course is with extensive practice facilities (range, short game, and greens). Right by the airport runway which adds a novelty. Can get very boggy in the rain but not an issue at the moment. The food hygiene is very poor with flies buzzing all around the kitchen and crawling all over their coffee machine and other equipment.

Very nice golfcourse, first time we played there. We would have appreciated some signs along the way pointing to the next T box..We got lost a couple of times....perfect and flat for me as I was pulling a cart. 2 hours for 9 holes...comfortable play. It did get busier as the morning progressed. Early morning T off was achievable and helped our experience.Very friendly staff and golfers made it more enjoyable. We will definitely be returning to get familiar with the layout.

We've only been for the driving range and it is cracking fun. It has become our go to driving range as we love using top tracer. Not being professional, intermediate or barely amateur 😂 the steely atmosphere is a little off putting. Thank god they have a back corner to go and tee off.

Lovely course with greens and fairways in great condition. Welcoming staff. Very nice pro shop, bar and restaurant. My only criticism is of the green keeping staff who were cutting areas around the tee boxes who showed little consideration when teeing off. On one hole, the guy with the blower blew grass cuttings into me while I sat in a buggy prior to teeing off. I had bits of grass in my eyes and even into my mouth. I think they should be a little more mindful of the players. Other than that, I very much enjoyed my round in a club that had a friendly atmosphere. Great variety of holes, many with beautiful views. Very happy to play there again.

This being my home club I’m maybe a bit biased ⛳️ after a very dry summer and no grass on the fairways we are now seeing the grass growing well. Green are all getting there make over and starting to recover well. we have a very well stocked pro shop and will soon have a golf simulator purpose built to improve your golf ⛳️ we have a full catering service and a very comfortable Club house.🥶 Winter has arrived but the course is holding out, cold and sunny winter golf ⛳️ roll on the spring. Still worth a visit on a nice day ⛳️🥶

Greens and fairways in great condition and most of all it’s superb value compared to other courses of its kind. Also has a lovely clubhouse to enjoy a nice drink in after your round and a very well equipped pro shop.

Nine of us played the course at the weekend and the staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The food was excellent ..... possibly some of the nicest food I've eaten at a golf club. The course isn't immaculate but it's very good value. The first cut is longer than most courses but that is probably because the course is quite open. Go to this course under-expecting and you'll be pleasantly surprised. We'll certainly be back.
