Rating: 4.7 (1867) Price Level:
Great food, quick and friendly service with a cosy ambience. The Lamb Stew that I had was delicious and the accompanying salsa was fresh with the right amount of spice. Left feeling full and Happy!

Friendly staff, fun decor and delicious food. First time visiting and am new to Mexican foods so the staff helped me understand the menu items better to make my choice. Went for the spinach leek and cheese tacos and they were so good and paired wonderfully with the beans and guac. Excited to return and try more!

This is the best meal I’ve had in Canterbury and I understand why this restaurant has lasted so long. It’s one of the busiest restaurants too so you do have to book (it was packed even on a dreary February weekday ). The decor is colourful and wonderfully eccentric. Every member of the staff was warm and friendly despite the fact that they were very busy. I ordered a chicken fajita which came with generous, fresh portions of everything and deliciously cooked chicken. It’s worth noting that although the menu shows fajita for two that can also do single portions on request (I nearly didn’t have one at all because I don’t know this). Other members in the party all complemented the food. Overall it was excellent and I strongly recommend it.

Great Mexican! Super yummy food & nice vibe. Been my fave spot for years while I lived in Canterbury. Came back 5 years later & it’s still the same great quality food, full of flavors. Funky art on the wall is for sale too! Thank you:)

Wow. The duck is just fantastic. The server asked me how I wanted to duck, which was the first time I’ve ever been asked that. He explained to me that the duck tastes better and has a nicer texture if it id a bit pink. And he was right. The duck was the highlight of my entire trip to Canterbury! There’s also a student discount, which is really nice. This place is very popular, so be sure to make a reservation. Luckily they were able to fit us in without needing to make one.

Bill's Canterbury Restaurant
5 Rose Ln, Canterbury CT1 2SJ, UK | Restaurant P: 020 8054 5400
Rating: 4.5 (2652) Price Level:
It is a nice restaurant, I had the Christmas cracker burger with a beautiful fruit chutney and a lovely truffle jam in a bun with a fat juicy burger. It was delicious, service was decent and the waitress was lovely. Okay ish prices, definitely cheaper in spoons but it is better food here.

Amazing, lovely meal. Highly recomend the veggie platter, really tasty food and plenty for two people. All the staff were super friendly, especially our server Tasha who was very attentive. We will be back!
Rating: 5 / 5
Food was great. However the staff wasn’t very positive when seating us, and didn’t tell us till after we had eaten that they had an all you can eat pancake offer on that day. So we had finished our dish then was told. And felt we had to grab the offer while we was there as they was unsure if the offer was staying. But glad I didn’t pay for the pancakes full price, they was dry and chewy. The main meal we had was amazing!!! Couldn’t fault that. But the staff need to be more attentive and explain more. The down stairs toilet didn’t work so had to go upstairs it’s great they had two but also an inconvenience for people with a disability.
Rating: 4 / 5
A lovely restaurant with a bar and different combinations of seating type allows you to experience a different type of cosy get-together around the table. There is an upstairs area that I did not see and will try this area upon my return sometime. The food was of very good quality and was nicely presented on the plate. The service was very quick and politely done, and orders were dealt with very well by our waiter. The atmosphere was nice, and the decor a little bit off the wall, sort of industrial, i would say? I was disappointed when I ordered a drink with Brandy in it and was surprised they didn't stock it and had to settle for a whisky instead. I do have to say the bottled IPA was absolutely delicious and had a lovely hoppy, fruity tang to it, which went great with my beef burger! Outside seating available for fine weather conditions on the street, the pavemented side looks great at the entrance. There are toilets available in this establishment. Overall, it was a good evening out and a very nice experience in the restaurant in the Canterbury town centre.

Genuinely, one of the best cafes I have ever been in the UK. Nice service. The staff was very nice and friendly. The pastries and sweet were delicious and not too sweet. We really love the apple tart and custard cake. The atmosphere was lovely. I'd would definitely come back if I got a chance to visit Canterbury again.

Great pastries and lovely service. Also very calm and coffesque, which is what I was going for.

Nice little coffee & pastry shop. Bacon quiche was really nice. My partner ordered german sausage baguette - bread was really good but sausage & filling can be better. Fruit pie was fresh. Coffee & hot choc were standard. Staffs were friendly and place is cozy.

The Beano Cafe
12 North Ln, Canterbury CT2 7EB, UK | Cafe P: 01227 781528
Rating: 4.5 (312) Price Level:
Good food and prices, conveniently located close to the city centre. I went to The Beano Cafe for a late morning breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, two slices of toast, a portion of chips and a can of fizzy pop. The cost was only £7.00. The chips were particularly nice, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I would recommend this cafe. If you found this review helpful, please click on the heart icon, thanks.

Dropped into this little gem because it was so close to our accommodation. Certainly not disappointed in any way. Staff were brilliant, service was quick and the food was really good. Would recommend.

If you are an impecunious tourist with a big appetite and an aversion to being treated as a cash cow by businesses who think of you as nothing else but a cash cow, then this is the place for you. This café hasn't changed much since the 1970's, when Ziggy Stardust and the Beano was competing for the attention of British school boys. The full British breakfast with a mug of tea and toast on the side is garanteed to keep you going till Evensong. Sadly you won't be served by Denis the Menace or Minnie Minx, expect instead to be served by staff who are welcoming, efficient and kind.
Rating: 5 / 5
my go-to for a good cooked breakfast. Never disappoints, always with great service and delicious food. Clean inside too. 5/5 I tried all the cooked breakfasts I could find in Canterbury over the last year or so, to see what’s best. Beano wins :)
Rating: 5 / 5
Canterbury is brimming with history and charm, but sometimes a hungry tourist needs a good breakfast to fuel their adventures. That's where the Beano Cafe swoops in, saving the day with a breakfast spread that's as mighty as Dennis the Menace' scraper bike. My inner child did a little jig when I saw the name, and the menu did not disappoint. I opted for the classic English brekkie, and let me tell you, it was a full-on feast for a champion. The sausage were juicy and plump, they burst with flavour in every bite. The egg was cooked as expected, their golden yolks begging to be mopped up with the accompanying toast. The bacon added a salty touch, while the baked beans offered a welcome touch of sweetness. But the real surprise was the fried bread. Golden and fluffy on the inside, it had a satisfyingly crispy exterior. It was the perfect vessel for scooping up beans, mopping up egg yolk, or simply savoring on its own. The toast, perfectly toasted and generously buttered, provided a more traditional option for those who prefer a less adventurous approach. The Beano Cafe isn't just about the food. The entire experience is a delightful homage to the world of Beano comic books. From the quirky decor to the friendly staff who seem to have stepped straight out of the pages, it injects a playful energy into the breakfast routine. Whether you're a Beano enthusiast or simply looking for a hearty and delicious breakfast in Canterbury, the Beano Cafe is a must-visit. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is fun, and it's the perfect way to start your day with a smile. Just be warned, this breakfast is fit for a hero, so come hungry!

Wow, what an awesome cafe! I work just round the corner at the university and have been meaning to try this place for a while. I was not disappointed! The decor and vibe of the place is very welcoming, and the service was impeccable. I ordered the set 2, which was great value for about 8 quid considering it includes tea and toast/bread. Every part of the meal was cooked perfectly and the ingredients are good quality. Sausage was nice and herby too which is just how they should be. Will definitely come again more regularly to support such a well-run establishment with superb food and value.

We sat outside under the heaters and beside the stream. In spite of being the only ones outside the servers were responsive and attentive. The food was nice but did not blow us away. For the price we were very happy with our lunch.

Went to Canterbury and found this lovely restaurant by the river. Sat outside and all I can say is wow. Special set menu Monday - Friday in the day, very reasonable for the quality. Had one of the best beef carpaccio’s I’ve eaten (best was in Paris) and then a cracking nduja/salami wood fired pizza that I only just finished… shame to waste amazing food. One of the nicest menu’s I’ve seen in a while… fancied everything. The service also gets a special mention (lady with the smile and braces) couldn’t have done more for us and you can tell they had been trained well. Highly recommend if you come to Canterbury… inside good vibes and good music. Best to book especially at weekends. Happy Eating :)

Got the Mushroom Fettuccine, a Gin Cocktail with elderflower and shared a sticky toffee pudding. The food was so good, with good portions that were not too large. The sticky toffee pudding was heavenly! The service and ambience were also excellent, our servers were quick to give us recommendations and were warm and friendly. Would definitely come back when we are in Canterbury again!

Cosy Club
20-21 St Margaret's St, Canterbury CT1 2TH, UK | Restaurant P: 01227 387046
Rating: 4.5 (590) Price Level:
I'd never known that Cosy Club existed until someone I know had recommended going. A friend and I were visiting Canterbury for a bottomless brunch at another venue and just had to visit to find out how nice it was for ourselves. It was a Sunday early evening, and quiet when we arrived. Our welcome was super friendly, and the service at the bar was good. Cocktails were 2 for £12.95 which is brilliant! We didn't have much time available before our booking elsewhere, although we tried to push back our other booking so we could stay longer, but was unfortunately unsuccessful in getting hold of the other venue, which was a shame. Despite this, we had enjoyed our first drink so much that we decided to go back for another before ending our evening and heading home. The lady at the bar even brought them outside for us! The decor is absolutely stunning, drinks tasted amazing and were served with a smile. We would definitely be back to try more of the cocktail menu!😍
Rating: 4 / 5
The ambience of the restaurant is inviting. The staff are professional, polite, and know the menu inside out. They are very welcoming. We love the decor and the food is very good. Parking is about 10 minutes' walk to the restaurant. I'm not sure, though, if there is any other access to the basement toilets. The lift is only accessible from the ground floor. Overall, I'm happy to recommend it.

Can’t believe i’ve lived in Canterbury for 3 years and never been here! Absolutely 10/10. can’t fault it. Great for all occasions fancy or casual. i Went for my grad celebrations & had the funniest time. Lunch menu was amazing!! and the service was super! Will definitely be coming back to try the breakfast & dinner menu! Thank you for making our meal so lovely!

First time here and I can honestly say it won’t be the last, service was very good. They were busy with Christmas parties but they were prompt. Food was good but the cocktails are such good value for money, if you go between a certain time it’s 2 cocktails for £12.95 bargain

Went here for Christmas Eve dinner and it was amazing! I've wanted to go to this place for a long time and regretted that I didn't do it earlier!! The atmosphere and interior are simply incredible, you can look at the scenery and paintings forever, they are all so beautiful!! The food was delicious, we chose a few starters and also my friends chose two main dishes At our request, all the food was brought to us at the same time, for which I thank you very much🙂 Everything was delicious, especially arancini and shrimp 🤤 All the staff were very friendly and attentive, the service was impeccable The star was Bella, who served our table, she was incredibly pleasant and made our evening special Thank you!

An incredible experience, all round. The service, food and atmosphere were outstanding. I love the fact that this restaurant doesn't have a 'stuffy' vibe. It's top class but in a relaxed way. Will definitely be going back.

What an amazing culinary experience! Excellent Food! Excellent Service! Excellent Value! £45 for the set menu which ended up being six courses, every course cooked and presented to perfection! Best ever dining experience! Thank you 🙏🏻

We have dined here for a special occasion. The fire place was on and it added to overall atmosphere. We went for a longer menu. It was one of the best meals of our lives. Especially the lobster was just amazing. Every little piece was perfectly executed and balanced. Oysters were delicious as well. And the wine selection is very extensive.
Rating: 5 / 5
I had a wonderful time at the Fordwich Arms. The food was delicious and the staff very kind! I had the Hake, The Quail, the pistachio and raspberry tart. My fiancé got the Pork instead of the Hake.
Rating: 5 / 5
The food was exceptional as was the wine selection which included a number of English vineyards. We chose the â la carte menu and were very pleased with the choices. I suppose the only comment we would make is that it's basically a pub albeit an elevated one and the service reflects that. Which doesn't mean that anyone was rude - far from it - but there was a fair bit of shouting and loud talking in/out of the kitchen and up/down the bar. My expectation when paying £75pp is that the staff would perhaps be a little more circumspect but in no way did it detract from the absolutely amazing food.

Lovely place for a classic scone. Their house scone (with blueberry and lime) is delicious (don’t forget the extra clotted cream!). Also nice selection of hot chocolates with fantasy. Beautiful setting.

My favourite place to take visiting friends and family in Canterbury. No need to pre-book. The cheese scones are super delicious, I keep going back just for them. I've tried different teas, they never disappoint. Nuts allergy friendly.

Cosy little cafe in Canterbury. Chicken Caesar salad was delicious. We also had the potato and garlic soup which was also great
Rating: 5 / 5
Was visiting with a friend and hopped in for some afternoon tea, the staff were so helpful with advising us about portion sizes and I can say- they were right! One serving of afternoon tea was more than enough between the two of us. The Raspberry Apple scone was delicious and so large we almost couldn’t finish it, and the finger sandwiches were so fresh with classic fillings! We got the Tiny Tim’s House-blend for our tea and loved it. Overall, Cosy Interiors, great food and excellent service:))
Rating: 5 / 5
Quirky Super place, first time customer and we're be returning next time we are in Canters. Staff were excellent, friendly, professional and the service received was top notch. Teas were really nice, certainly different and there was plenty for two cups. Scones were of a good standard although one totally fell into pieces. Jam and butter were superb. £35 for 2 x teas, 1 x coffee & 3 x scones. Expensive, maybe, but was quality 👍

Café Solo
302 Wincheap, Canterbury CT1 3TY, UK | Cafe P: 01227 470178
Rating: 4.5 (740) Price Level:
I was really impressed with cafe solo. We went there for breakfast and I really couldn't fault the food - I wanted a good fry up and that's exactly what I got. The milkshake here is also some of the best I've had around Canterbury, actually made using ice cream with a dollop of cream on top. The only reason I haven't put 5 stars for the food is because it didn't wow me like my other 5 star reviews, but it was still very decent. The staff were super friendly but gave us the space we wanted to eat together, the space was clean, and we were even surprised with complimentary Turkish delight. Overall, would recommend. They have a small carpark, but there are supermarkets nearby.

Me and my friends stopped by this lovely restaurant for lunch and it was absolutely amazing. The guy who served was so polite and the environment was so friendly. Cute interior giving out retro vibes. The food was in hearty portions and the cappuccino was out of my expectation! The froth was perfect and airy with the chocolate powder dusted evenly on top. I highly recommend this place if you want something simple but delicious.

My family and I had a lovely breakfast in this cafe. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, special shout out to Megan 1.0 for looking after us so beautifully. I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo of my vegetarian breakfast (which was delicious). So I took this one off the outside seating area :)

If Google could do more than 5 stars this place would get it. Upon arriving I got welcomed at the front door and seated. I think it’s a family run business because they take pride in everything they do. Food was wonderful Staff polite Cafe very clean There’s only two cafe’s I would take my wife too and this is one of them.
