We have been going to the Joshua tree for several years whenever we are in the Lakes. The owners are very friendly and the food exceptional. It’s a lovely atmosphere whether you want lunch ior an indulgent cake and tea or coffee. A true gem - Christmas lunch was amazing.

We had the Christmas Menu and wow it did not disappoint. I’m not a big eater but the proportions of food was just right . Lovely tender succulent turkey, plenty of roasties, and four different veg accompanied by stuffing gravy and pigs in blanket. We have been to Joshua Tree quite a few times and it never disappoints. All the staff are lovely and very friendly. If you get the chance please make the effort to go it is definitely worth a visit

If you get the chance take your time to locate this wonderful historic venue tucked away down a ginel off Stramonsgate in heart of Kendal. If you do then, like us during our recent visit, you'll be glad you did. The Joshua Tree is a small family run Café & Bistro nestled in one of Kendals oldest Yards in a historic 16th century building. Here we found a warm welcome, great service and some lovely food at an affordable price. The produce is locally sourced and freshly prepared by the team in the upstairs, small and open kitchen area. The menu is unpretentious but with a great selection of what I would call traditional British fare. The homemade soup of the day was delicious, the vegetarian quiche delightful and the chicken, leek and mushoom pie superb. All served by pleasant and efficient, but not intrusive, staff in a wonderful quirky setting. The low ceilings, nice wood burning stove, and open wooden staircase leading to the upstaurs dining area all help to make this a nice venue for us to enjoy a lovely lunch.

The dentist can be daunting for anyone, but at Stramongate Dental Surgery I feel like I’m going through an airport terminal. The dentists are fantastic. Each member of the team all bring something special to the Surgery. All the dental nurses who work there are so kind and polite, each have a bit of individual brilliance and their knowledge makes them beautiful. Special mention to the amazing Ellis who always goes the extra mile and to Sabine who speaks Latvian to my wife. Thanks guys. See you for my 6 months check up soon.

During the lockdown the worst happened and one morning I woke up with my front tooth cracked longways. Yeah...wasn't the best and I never had this before. I rang a few places quickly for advise but everyone was kinda rude and turned me away. Then close friends of mine suggested getting in touch with Stramongate Dental Surgery. It was the best choice I have ever made! Absolutely brilliant! The whole place is a great experience from start till finish. They were super nice to me on the phone and I could feel they really wanted to help. Then I met the rest of the team who are all very friendly. I had a check up and had my first tooth done. I just want to say wow! Daniel is not just a dentist. He gives me tons of advices based on my teeth all the time. I could also see my teeth on xray, photos which kinda made me more confident about myself. He didn't just do a simple filling. My tooth looks amazing and I feel happy to smile again. His quality of work is mind-blowing. It's a piece of art and you can tell he cares about his work so much. I told him he's like an architect. Just wanna say I have never experienced this before and I feel really looked after and welcomed.

Daniel saved me from extreme dental pain following a botched root canal with a different practice while here on holiday. Absolutely wonderful team. Saw me at short notice in an emergency and saved me from a lot of pain. A very compassionate team and incredibly professional. Felt very well cared for. Reception staff were also wonderful. Couldn't have asked for better.

James provided a very prompt and efficient service. He came out to assess the jobs (repacing a bathroom ceilling fan and sorting out a faulty kitchen light) on the day that I called him. He sent his estimate that night and ordered the parts. As soon as they arrived, he contacted me to arrange a convenient time. A few days later, he came and carried out the work. James was originally asked to put up a few lights and sort out some switches. He was very professional, obviously a very experienced electrician and tidied up after himself. He also stayed longer than he planned so as to finish the job, due to my light fittings being faulty so I had to go back to the shop and replace them. Really nice guy and would highly recommend if you need an electrician.

I've been going to Dover Priory Dental a few years now. I've always found it to be a very friendly and caring practice. All the dental staff are lovely and happy to answer any questions. I've had to have few fillings done, I'm not keen on them, but Dr. Dorothy Riley is great at making you feel at ease and reassures you throughout treatment. She is very professional in her work and I've never had a problem with any treatment she's carried out. I've also seen Christine, who is a Dental Hygienist and she's lovely too. I would highly recommend Dover Priory Dental.

I’ve been going to Dover Priory for a couple of years now, and all the dentist are amazing, my usual dentist is Dorothy however a couple of times I’ve had to see Theo and also Michael for some treatment. I’m not the biggest fan of dentist however both times I have seen either dentist, they have made me feel so at ease and also when having treatment it’s always been a pain free experience. I have been with this dental practice from the start. Waiting room has a calm atmosphere The staff are very friendly and helpful. I visit hygienist every six month she is very caring and fully aware of my sensitive teeth. I have a check-up with Dorothy twice a year I love the way she explains everything so there are no surprises. This is by far the best private dental practice in Dover

All of the staff at this practice make coming to the dentist such a pleasant experience! The ladies on reception go out of their way to help and ease any fears you may have. Dorothy is a fantastic dentist - friendly, knowledgeable, and more importantly, gentle! The new hygienist, Sharon, made me feel at ease and did a cracking job on making my teeth super shiny. This practice far exceeds the standard of most dentists in Dover and the surrounding areas, plus their Dental Plan is affordable and helps you keep on top of your oral health.

Luke installed a Wi-Fi connection to an outbuilding for us. It was a job a couple of people had not been keen to do as there were some complex areas but not only has he done the job but it’s been carried out neatly- even tidying up other wiring as he went. 5 star in every respect - we love this place! A friendly neighbourhood vibe with incredible service, exceptional food and a really lovely atmosphere. We enjoy coming here for 'date night' or for a nice catch up with friends/family - consistently excellent and always so welcoming. The wine selection is extensive, Stacey is knowledgeable not only on their offering but the wider wine 'scene' too, and we've always found the wines extremely palatable! Very happy to see Ramble & Northern Wine on the Kendal food and drink scene. We will be back!
