We had a delicious lunch, the service is very efficient and the staff kind and friendly. The food is delicious, including the "special of the day". The atmosphere is warm and cosy. The coffee was really good. Absolutely recommended.

Visited here for my Birthday after a recommendation from years ago. Wish I had visited a long time ago. This is a fantastic pub/restaurant, family run, three generations!! Somehow we left without paying a tip… so we will be making it our mission to go back ASAP 😀. Highly recommend x

We have eaten here a few times and has always been very good. This visit was a Sunday lunch for nine people outside, and although most of the food was of good quality as usual and the staff very pleasant. Those of us that had the garlic lamb were disappointed as the meat was tough and bland. Three knives had to be returned as they were rusty and dirty and a glass had a crack in it. We were disappointed this time but will definitely return. It's a lovely old pub, and up until now the food and service has been excellent.

We took my mum to Yeoman for a belated birthday lunch. Vini the Manager made us feel so welcome as soon as we entered the restaurant. Our order was taken by Kelly. She was lovely and friendly and so polite. The food was exquisite!!!. Beautifully presented, and so delicious. We were so looked after. The best meal we have had out in a very long time. Such a varied menu. We will be going back again and again. Thank you Vini and Kelly for making us feel so welcome. If we could give you 20 stars we would. Natalie, Craig and Georgia. Xx♥️💗❤️

Gave this restaurant a try for the first time and was very impressed. Varied menu with all dishes cooked to a high standard. Large portions, so you will definitely come away full. Outside doesn't look very impressive but a comfortable and spacious seating area inside. Our children also enjoyed their meals. Easy parking next to The Yeoman which has it's own spaces but also free 3 hour Village car park.

I would give it 10 stars or a Michelin star if i could. The food is that good. EVERYTHING tastes amazing. We had the chicken livers, prawns and scallops to start, which were well seasoned and beautifully presented. The scallops were garnished with samphire and pistachio nuts, which was a surprisingly amazing touch and added so much flavour. The best scallops I've ever tasted. For Mains, we both enjoyed the cod...on a bed of well-seasoned mash and lobster sauce. Again, it was beautifully presented and tasted out of this world. The service was IMPECCABLE. We had a new starter waitress, who was on her first evening, and she was so attentive and friendly. The manager is amazing too. He beams pride in his restaurant and is so friendly and welcoming. All the staff just seem to enjoy their jobs and were all just as accommodating. This is now my absolute favourite restaurant. They're going to get sick of seeing my face, I'm going to be there so often!!

We went there after doing the lights trail at Leeds Castle. We were seated very quickly after arriving even though we didn't have a booking. The service was generally good but we had to wave a few times to get our water jug replenished. The food portions were good and all the dishes were tasty. My son had the scallops as a starter. I thought they could have used a little more colour. I wanted the seabream but unfortunately they had run out so went for the prawns instead as a main. Very tasty 😋. My son had the fish stew main which was given the thumbs up. It was served with flat breads, which though lovely, I would personally prefer a more crusty bread. My other half had the moussaka, which he enjoyed. He had it with the side salad. For dessert my son tried the baklava. Too sweet for me, but a generous portion. My one disappointment with this place is the kids menu. It has 3 items only, all meat based. It's £10 but doesn't include a drink or dessert like a lot of kids menus tend to so if your kid is vegetarian or doesn't like bolognaise or Chicken skewers then I'm not sure what your options are. My daughter had the skewers. She loved the chips but as the skewers have a lemon based marinade she wasn't so thrilled about that and didn't finish them. It wasn't a cheap evening but the food was tasty and the portions sufficient, however I would consider a venue with more to offer for kids.

Excellent food and service. The portions were huge but were delicious. We had the chicken skewers, fish stew and mussels, and a couple of soup of the day. No complains on any of the dishes!

The Loose Chequers
Old Loose Hill, Loose, Maidstone ME15 0BL, UK | Pub P: 01622 743125
Rating: 4.4 (629) Price Level:
Although we have lived only walking distance from this wonderful establishment, this was the first time we visited... And we weren't disappointed. Mrs and I, and our dog (yes, dogs are allowed but best to let them know in advance) on a Friday evening for "Steak night". The place was busy, but nice busy. Very cosy and warm. The service was excellent, with the landlady being very attentive. The food was lovely and the steak was delicious. However, my favourite was the Scotch Egg started. Proper home made, yolk was beautifully soft. I could have eaten ten! Would definitely visit and recommend this place. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Came here for lunch on a Saturday. Set in a lovely location with good walks nearby. Wasn't particularly busy which was perfect to have a good selection of seating and fast service. In my view the food menu isn't particularly inspiring but everything we had was freshly prepared and well cooked. Great for children, particularly because of the ice cream machine and milkshakes.

Had a lovely lunch with my parents and brother. Lovely cosy old pub and the 2 girls who served us were great

Set by the beautiful waterways in the quiet town of Loose, there is no better setting for a pub. The Chequers Inn is undoubtedly a proper pub, 17th Century and beaming inside and and out. The pub is centred around the bar area with peripheral seating areas for those wanting to have tired feet or want to enjoy traditional pub food. I like The Chequers Inn style, it doesn’t try hard to meet the needs of check lists and social media review systems. It is a laid back, warm & welcoming atmosphere within which to enjoy well prepared pub grub. The food menu is traditional at its core, but does nod to the flamboyant with its french inspired fish dishes. The presentations the food is excellent overall. I admired my main course, the Salmon Nicoise, for an indeterminable amount of time before devouring it. There is always room to improve things, but the Chequers shouldn’t. It has a refreshing charm that many of the chain pubs lack.

Sugar Loaves
56 Eyhorne St, Hollingbourne, Maidstone ME17 1TS, UK | Pub P: 07570 513896
Rating: 4.4 (186) Price Level:
Although living in Bredgar, I have begun using the Sugar Loaves as the local in Bredgar is very disappointing to say the least and can highly recommend the service, staff and food. A proper old fashioned pub with a proper landlord who welcomes you into his pub and takes an interest in all his customers. A proper pub with proper food and a spotless kitchen. 10 out of 10

What an amazing little village pub! We stopped in as a family just looking for a quick bite to eat, but we were welcomed in to a beautiful, warm and friendly pub. The atmosphere was amazing, with kind locals, helpful staff and a gorgeous pub dog! The food took a while coming, but it was so worth the wait. It was incredible. Fresh, hot, beautifully cooked. A total gem.

Went in midweek..quite quiet but everyone was so lovely…and we met the landlords dog Gunner 🥰 Perfect place in a little village….highly recommend
Rating: 5 / 5
Lovely locals pub with a choice of 3 ales and a big menu. We had a delicious Sunday lunch in a comfortable, dog friendly restaurant area. Also outside seating and a proper bar.

We are regular visitors to The Sugar Loaves the wife and I, and with good reason. It’s without doubt the most homely and least pretentious pub you’ll ever visit. Steve runs the show; he’s also the chef and head entertainer - running bingo nights, vinyl nights, quiz nights…and others. He keeps a good cellar…there’s always 2, maybe 3 cask ales on tap..And I mustn’t forget to mention Gunner..he’s Steve’s resident Boxer dog…always happy to greet the customers as they walk through the door - especially if they bring in their own dogs for Gunner to meet. Highly recommended. 😃👍 Andrew & Nicky.

Fantastic food with very friendly warm welcome as you’re walking in Annie was our server and she was fantastic. The food was amazing. Would recommend it all will definitely be coming again 10 out of 10.

One of my closest friends and I chose the visit this pub after both having a rather tough week. On arrival we saw a sign that said a ‘warm welcome was awaiting from Stewart’ and he did not disappoint! His welcome into the pub had that personal touch which made us feel immediately comfortable and happy with our choice to visit. I have been several times over the years but this was my best visit yet. The food was excellent, served quickly on a busy Friday night and tasted excellent from grazing dishes all through to dessert. We were served by Jane who was attentive, friendly and always polite. I had the duck pizza (adding bacon made it even better) and the honeycomb dome for pudding which was delicious. I will definitely visit again and thank all the staff for their excellent service.

We joined for Christmas day lunch. The staff were all welcoming and friendly. Made us feel like one big restaurant family having lunch together. The food was delicious and well presented. The timings perfect and not being rushed to finish. Just a lovely and enjoyable meal. Thank you

We have just enjoyed an excellent 3 course Christmas dinner, the food was so tasty and there was plenty of it… Our waitress was Annabelle who was polite, attentive and happy to help with our orders.. all the staff were very welcoming including Stuart the manager who made time to chat to us. Would definitely book again..

Cannot fault the food, service, drinks and experience. Took a friend for his Birthday, Sunday Roast lunch. Had starters, mains and desserts, could not find a fault. The waitress who served us was fabulous, friendly and accommodating, again could not have asked for better service, and could not fault. Loved the extra Happy Birthday plate and made the meal a proper celebration! The ambience is lovely pub feel and relaxed. Looking forward to visiting again soon, definitely worth the half hour drive, would love this too be my local.
Rating: 4 / 5
The more glamorous of the two pubs in Hollingborne, but not the friendliest. The staff were nice enough but the beer was cloudy. The food was good when we got our mains, but the 'bar nibbles' were underwhelming, neither the whitebait nor the calamari were very nice. The steak and lamb were both very good and well presented. The bill had a service charge added.

brilliant visit this weekend, last minute booking with my family. the food was really good, but the service was even better! very attentive staff but with a bit of personality! always kept us topped up with drinks and happy to recommend items on the menu, the staff were also really good with my sons egg allergy and made adjustments so he could have what he wanted.

Castle View Restaurant at Leeds Castle
Leeds Castle, Broomfield, Maidstone ME17 1PL, UK | Restaurant P: 01622 767819
Rating: 4.2 (580) Price Level:
Our son decided to treat us to a new restaurant venue for our wedding anniversary. We were delighted he had chosen this establishment. It was a lovely setting, just outside the Leeds Castle grounds in Kent. On this day, it wasn't particularly busy, so we had a reasonably quiet setting with a magnificent view of the castle from the terrace. The service here was exemplary. The staff were very attentive. We were able to choose from the evening menu, and this was bought out in virtually no time at all. My son had the battered fish, my wife, the beefburger, and I the 8oz Ribeye steak. All were very well presented. I have given 4 stars because I wanted a medium cooked steak and received medium rare. Also, the chips I received had quite a few bits of batter in them. This suggests that either they've used the same vat to cook the fish and chips. Or, they stored the chips in the same area/tray as the fish. This did not though spoil the meal. Hats to the pastry chef!! The deserts were absolutely gorgeous. No complaints there. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. The service is impeccable. I would definitely recommend it. You will need to book, as this requires a gated entry at most times of the day.

I went to Castle View Restaurant with my mother for lunch last Tuesday, and we had such a fantastic experience. For Lunch, I had a jacket potato with baked beans, but I asked to not have the side of dressed leaves as I don't like salad dressing at all and the waitress completely understood, which was great. My mother ordered a jacket potato also but with cheese and coleslaw and side salad, and both our dishes arrived at our table in precisely six minutes; I've never been served so fast at any other restaurant before. My jacket potato was really tasty and because I had no side salad, i got extra baked beans! I would like to thank all the waiters and waitresses in the restaurant for being so efficient and serving our food so well with a smile on their faces.

I had a solo meal while staying for the evening. Staff were friendly and welcoming, attentive and professional. I didn't have to wait for service, the whole team worked well together and everything flowed perfectly. The duck was cooked to perfection and the lemon tart was the best I've tasted in a long while. The ambiance and dining room itself was well laid out. I will be booking to go back again.

Lovely food with an amazing view of the castle. Apparently they had a new menu, we had crab pate and the mackerel which were both lovely and amazingly presented, mains we had confit duck which was delicious. Wish there was just a bit of green on the plate but other than that can't moan as it was all cooked perfectly and the flavours were amazing!

Who'd A Thought It
Headcorn Rd, Grafty Green, Maidstone ME17 2AR, UK | Hotel P: 01622 858951
Rating: 4.4 (415) Price Level:
We have stayed here many times, in a few different rooms but we must say the Lodge is a personal favourite, as it is extra private and further away from the other rooms If you’re lucky you’ll see the rabbits running along the field from the outdoor hot tub OR the indoor spa bath! The food here is AMAZING as well, we always go for steak (sometimes lobster too) and breakfast and a bottle of champagne is included in every stay! There are lots of options at breakfast as well as the food is all locally sourced which we appreciate! The location is far out of the way which we like but you do have to drive through country lanes to get here but it is 100% worth it!
Rating: 5 / 5
Me and my boyfriend stayed here to celebrate his birthday. We stayed in the Dom Suite and had the most amazing time. The room was unreal, so much detail and so spacious. The hot tub in the room was gorgeous and the hot tub outside was just perfect. Everything was so cozy, quiet and peaceful. We ordered room service and the food was 10/10. I had separately booked for the room to be decorated through “Party with Mrs P” on Instagram and we were so so happy with the decorations. We will definitely be staying here again and will 100% recommend PartyWithMrsP to my friends and family.
Rating: 5 / 5
The pub and rooms were all great. The staff friendly and attentive. We had some lovely food. Our room was one of the newer additions. It was roomy and decorated to a high standard. We was in billecart. The only thing missing was a magnified mirror, which I know is in some of the other rooms. The hotel itself is in a peaceful, quiet location with nothing around so if you wanted to go out, then there was nothing to really wall to. We enjoyed our stay and if you have good weather the outside space is where you want to be!!
Rating: 5 / 5
Fantastic hotel. We booked the Grand Piano room and wow! The quality of the room was amazing. Every detail had been thought of and it was just pure luxury. We would definitely recommend this hotel for a night away. Thank you.

The Potting Shed
Horseshoes Ln, Langley, Maidstone ME17 3LZ, UK | Bar P: 01622 862112
Rating: 4.4 (2083) Price Level:
It was a nice experience. We only went to the restaurant for food and didn't stay in the rooms so cannot comment on those. The staff were friendly and attentive. Service was really quick. The food was presented nicely, tasted good, and portions were a good size. There was a varied menu so you could find something to eat for most dietary requirements. It was a tad on the expensive side in my opinion, which is why the rating is 4/5*. We went for the 5 plates for £32 between 2 of us which was a good amount of food. There was lots of free parking available. Inside the restaurant was clean and rustic. Quite pretty with the decor. There is a nice outside area too. It was busy but not too loud that we couldn't hear what members of our group were saying. There were kids there so I'd say yes it's family-friendly.
Rating: 5 / 5
Excellent service which is what I've come to expect at all the Elite pubs. Good value food and drink and nothing is too much trouble. Stayed 2 nights here which were very clean and felt very luxurious for the money.
Rating: 5 / 5
We ate here last night as the food at our hotel wasn't very good. The parking was great and it waa easy to find We had the best pizza we've had for a long time and the value for money was brilliant. It cost half what we paid at our hotel the night before and the quality of the food and service was far superior at the potting shed. If we're in the area again we will definitely be back.
Rating: 4 / 5
First visit to the Potting Shed, a large indoor restaurant with plenty of seating inside and out in the garden. Plenty of parking too. Waitress was very friendly and efficient. I ordered the pizza Caesar, which came with a smoked salmon, anchovies and rocket topping. I ordered extra anchovies for a small price. I was not disappointed, the pizza was lovely and it was a good size too. My friends both ordered the steak ciabatta but both were disappointed at the amount of cheese which sat on top of the steak. They considered the price a little on the high side. The bill included a 12.5% service charge too. I would definitely visit again to enjoy one of their pizzas. The menu was quite extensive and it was difficult to make a choice.

The BAR & BRASSERIE
Hollingbourne Ashford Road Nr Maidstone, Maidstone ME17 1RE, UK | Restaurant P: 01622 528565
Rating: 4 (45) Price Level:
Have just eaten dinner here and the food is AMAZING. The service is excellent and the prices are reasonable for what you get and the type of restaurant. Would absolutely recommend.
Rating: 4 / 5
Very relaxing visit to the bar & brasserie, we enjoyed our coffee and sandwiches. But being Sunday the restaurant soon started to serve their Carvery lunch which looked really good!. Think we will book for that next Sunday.
Rating: 5 / 5
very good breakfast goodies kitchen as general. rooms a bit old, but still reasonable. nice area any quiet place.
Rating: 4 / 5
Breakfast is decent and have a lot of choice for a unlimited breakfast... unfortionatly you're unable to get hash browns and branded cereals such as corn flakes, coco pops etc. Prices are expensive for example burger and drink deals from £15-20 and single spirts alone costing £6+ For what the hotel food is and offers it has makes it worth it and for that reason ☆☆☆☆
Rating: 4 / 5
The Bar is great as well as the facilities for holding a function like Cricket Annual Dinner. Attended the Kent Annual Dinner, but the single bar was not enough to serve 80 people and the waiting area got jam packed with queuing up to be served 🍻🥂🍾. They had to literally close the bar before the Dinner could be initiated as people were not served drinks in time. Apart from this small thing, the place is good for small parties and functions.
