The Sun Inn
The St, Sittingbourne ME9 8EY, UK | Bar P: 01622 884221
Rating: 4.5 (655) Price Level:
We had a wonderful meal, great food, lovely staff, good atmosphere. The waitress made a mistake with our order, but dealt with it superbly. The loss of one star is actually for only having one ale on tap. This is a fairly busy pub, one ale is a fairly poor show.

We booked for my daughterβs 26th Birthday. 14 adults and 2 toddlers. We Would all definitely highly recommend. Well organised, very friendly , accommodating, helpful staff. The food was amazing, we were stuffed by the end of the evening. They even put candles on the cake when Iβd forgotten without asking, very thoughtful. Weβre planning our next visit already. Thank you all.

I booked this pub/restaurant on the hoof as I was attending a conference with colleagues from Germany, Holland, Poland & France in Sittingbourne and wanted my team mates to experience a typical country pub. The Sun Inn did not disappoint. The staff were incredible, patient and extremely courteous. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was fresh, very tasty and typically English, my colleagues left in a very good mood. Karen, Kim and the team were fantastic, I will return!!!

The Plough and Harrow Greek Taverna
Oad St, Borden, Oad Street, Kent ME9 8LB, UK | Restaurant P: 01795 841111
Rating: 4.6 (271) Price Level:
For a birthday lunch on a Sunday, The Plough and Harrow Greek Taverna was a perfectly decent spot. I'm not going to be too critical here because its charm could be quickly tarnished by comparing this Taverna to finer eateries. Despite the fact that the owners are not themselves Greek, there's a home-cooked honesty to this place. Do not expect fine dining, but do expect plenty of well cooked food. In fact, the Mega Meze for four people was enormous. The ribs were tender, the chicken succulent, the rice fluffy and so on. However, with four generous courses, it was a bit of a food challenge and the food definitely won! Thankfully, the owners boxed up about half of it which became the following day's dinner. Result! The wine selection appears to lean into the cheap, cheerful and guzzly ethos. The Plough and Harrow is a little out of the way and street parking is in short supply. That said, inside is pleasantly airy with larger tables than most restaurants (they need to be for all that food). Service definitely comes with a smile. There's also an enclosed courtyard to the rear that has additional seating. I am sure it would be rather pleasant on a balmy summer's evening. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves and wish the owners much success for the future.

We ordered a takeaway for my wife's birthday as we aren't able to eat out at the moment. We'd always intended to try Plough and Harrow as a restaurant, so this was an easy choice when we wanted something a little special for a celebration. We were not disappointed! My daughter ordered cheeseburger and chips. I didn't get to try it but it looked amazing - packed full with a decent patty and lots of cheese and salad. It beat my daughter but she gave it a good go. My son ordered ribs and chips. He's a fussy eater so we asked for no coleslaw, but the amount of ribs was incredible. He battled his way through it and managed to finish it off. My wife ordered chicken skewers (you get two in a portion) and chips, which also came with halloumi, tzatsiki and pitta bread. Tender chicken, well seasoned and very tasty. I went for the mixed grill - 1 lamb skewer, 1 chicken skewer, sausage, chops, chicken wings, grilled tomatoes, chips (I think I've forgotten some bits too). It was amazing - I nearly finished it but ultimately beat me. We also ordered loaded fries and garlic mushrooms. Probably more food than we needed, but both equally delicious. Finally, as we'd heard good things, we also ordered some Lotus Biscoff and Black Forest cheesecake slices. After a considerable time after our main course, we enjoyed these - creamy and crunchy in all the right places. I would thoroughly recommend The Plough and Harrow Taverna. I look forward to when we can enjoy dining there in the future when circumstances allow.

You won't leave this place hungry!!! We had the Β£25 mezze and I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. The amount of food we got was ridiculous. So much so I forgot how many courses we had! The food was very nice and the staff are very friendly. If you like Greek food then you really should give this place a try!

Was very happy with the big servings of authentic calamari, chicken, and sheftalia. Looking forward to exploring the meze options on next visit! Get some Aioli for the meat

Thank You Red Lion ππΌ Excellent & welcoming staff, cosy pub with a fireplace which gives you that extra homely feel. It's a dog friendly place also, so our pup had his best sleep in front of the fireplace. Drinks are a great price, and food portions are generous. My friend and I got stuck in a 5 hours of traffic at the dark country roads of Kent, so this place has saved us with their lovely local people & warm atmosphere. Thanks again. B

Update - I love this pub we have been back many times since the reviews below. We have had many tasty meals and drinks here and highly recommend it to anyone who is in the area and appreciates good food and hospitality. We stopped off here for a drink whilst out on a countryside walk. The staff were friendly and all the covid safety measures were in place. We sat out in their garden and enjoyed the summer sun and a beer whilst watching the tractor at work in the fields opposite. We returned to the pub after a bike ride in the autumn and ate in the restaurant. The food was amazing which is why I decided to upgrade the star rating to five and update this review. The lady (Hazel) who served us was really nice and the food portion size was very generous and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was very cosy and relaxing and we all enjoyed our afternoon. We hope to return again sometime soon.

The Germantown Cricket Club (Philadelphia) and the Band of Brothers played a cricket game nearby. We met at Red Lion during tea break and after the game. The atmosphere was very nice. The food was great and the service was excellent.

Baileys Coffee Shop and Sandwich Bar

Rating: 4.7 (120) Price Level:
I've been walking pass this place for a few years whilst going into town and, yet, until yesterday,I'd never set foot in the placeπ€ I must admit I thought it was a greasy spoon type place that served up traditional fried breakfast. However,I could not have been more wrong. It serves up sandwiches, and savoury type snacks as well as sweet confectionery; coffer and tea. The staff are very polite and friendly and, here's the thing that I like, they bring what you've ordered to your table...no waiting in a queue and clogging up the Isle! Another aspect of this delightful place is the seating: they have some small, yet comfortable leather chairs which I like very much! Oh,I nearly forgot, they have a first floor level too although I haven't been up there yet. I love and support independent shops like this so now I have found this little gem, I will be a frequent visitor in future. Thank you ladies for making my time spent there a very enjoyable timeππ

Station Cafe
21 Station St, Sittingbourne ME10 3DU, UK | Cafe P: 01795 556433
Rating: 4.5 (262) Price Level:
I did it again and ordered too much! The Station Cafe is exactly what it should be - a no nonsense, well run cafe. It's clean, tidy and airy. Service is friendly and the food is hot and plentiful. The breakfast menu options should please everyone and you don't have to wait too long to kill those morning hunger pangs. There's a car park around the corner and it's a good launchpad if you're heading off by train or you're off the the High Street for a spot of shopping. I find the tables just a tad too small for four people, but you can't have everything, right?
Rating: 5 / 5
Very clean and well kept premises backed up by a five star health rating. Cheerful staff, quick service and a good breakfast.

Bg's cafe & Restaurant
10 East St, Sittingbourne ME10 4RT, UK | Restaurant P: 01795 228934
Rating: 4.5 (91) Price Level:
We had breakfast here and the food was very tasty. We had a mixture of traditional breakfast foods and pancakes. The portion sizes were generous and the prices are good value for money. The scrambled eggs on toast is huge! The eggs were lovely and fluffy. The staff were talkative, individually complemented the children and were very friendly. Would definitely visit again.
Rating: 5 / 5
This cafe has a great atmosphere. Even to the point if you have dietary needs they will do whatever they can to accommodate them. The Chef cooks to a high standard and the staff are always polite and helpful. Stacey the young lady serving is such a happy polite person and always has time to chat and make you welcome. Stacey is definitely an asset to the restaurant. Truly a hard worker and very popular.
Rating: 5 / 5
Pleasantly suprised from my visits. Excellent food worthy of any restaurant. WiFi is available First the slightly less good, the 'facilities' (WC) are basic, unheated and you have to go outdoors - but they were clean and well maintained. The outside looks like a typical local cafe/ greasy spoon, and while they do seem to have those items in popular demand I thought I would step outside the appearance when I saw smashed avocado and poached egg on the menu. The avocado was perfect in consistancy and the poached egg was cooked as well as any I have had at double the price. The proportions of side to main was just about perfect. On my return trip I stepped even further and risked the Egg Royal, the smoked salmon was plentiful and fresh, the poached eggs were once again perfect and the hollandaise sauce was delicately flavoured and pleasantly warmed. All in all I will be coming back here anytime I need to visit the town, food is excellent, service is prompt, pleasant, and not intrusive. Prices are low for the quality of the food.
