I recently celebrated my birthday at The Silver Birch and it was a fantastic experience. Modern British cuisine at its finest! Samuel’s wine recommendations were spot-on, perfectly complementing our meal, and the restaurant manager's attentiveness made the evening even more special. A memorable dining experience—I’ll definitely be back!

Following a wonderful dinner here a few months ago we came back to the Silver Birch for lunch and had the Chef's tasting menu with paired wines. Every course was tasted wonderful and was presented beautifully. The wine pairings were unusual and, without exception, delicious. Each wine was described and they explained well why that wine had been chosen to go with that particular course. It is difficult to pick out a favourite dish, but I think my three favourites were Poached Newlyn Cod, Squab pigeon and the Brown butter chocolate delice, and a special mention for the lovely lovage butter which came with the bread. the ambience was relaxed and the staff (mainly Martin) who served us were excellent, friendly, entertaining, efficient and knowledgeable. The restaurant is an easy walk from Turnham Green tube station.Our meal was expensive, but worth every penny.

Wonderful restaurant - excellent flavours and textures, well-prepared and presented food and nice formal service. Way more than a neighbourhood restaurant! Went for a couple's birthday celebration and it is definitely special enough as well as relaxed and enjoyable, though quite smart. Great stuff. Caveat: price (what's new in London...). The menu price seems OK but there are a lot of extras and of course drinks, so it ended up being £120 a head with very reasonable amounts of booze and extras, so I'd say it's a tad steep, but the quality is there.

Until Hawthorn closed in Kew there was no reason to come here as we stay loyal to restaurants as they need all the support they can get. We were also put off slightly by the negative reviews, which seemed plausible.
Still we decided to give Silver Birch a try and were not disappointed.
From the beginning. The amuse-bouche were all well executed, subtlety flavoured and enjoyable. Bread also good, and the two butters exemplary (if butters are allowed to be that).
The crab starter was superb: delicate but rich. Initially I was a little underwhelmed by the beef tartare - more from the small portion size - but the beef was high quality, the flavours complex and complimentary, and I enjoyed that it had been thickly cut.
We decided to go for two meat dishes as the main courses and I suspect we made the right choice as both the venison and the pigeon could not be faulted. Again high quality meats, cooked perfectly.
Puddings excellent.
Service was attentive and professional; and we liked the ambience of the room.
It was clear that the chefs have well-honed skills and know what they're doing. Too often when dishes are a coming together of complex textures and flavours the result is a mess. This was not the case tonight.
Not cheap of course but that's London pricing. The food itself was a very reasonable £65 a head but drinks and service will easily double the final price (understandably).
