Food was 10/10, service a little slow but they seemed under staffed. The lighting was very bright like a canteen style in main room which was a shame. Very noisy for Sunday lunch, staff banging pots and putting away cutlery very loudly for entire time. I love children, but lots of screaming kids (aged between 7-12), staff did nothing to ask parents to keep children calm to not spoil others meal out. Felt like I was in a loud canteen and not a relaxing pub.

We tried The Fox and Grapes for Sunday lunch. Overall the experince was good. Top of the list is the food. The kitchen takes care to prepare good meals and the Sunday roast is no afterthought. We chose the lamb and pork roasts with all the trimmings, both were very flavoursome, correctly cooked, satisfying and filling. Nothing left on either plate, so compliments to the chef.
The pub is nicely decorated and light inside, kids and dog friendly.
The only slight disappointment was the service. We had to attract the attention of seemingly inexperineced waiting staff to progress each stage of the meal. Granted it's a busy time but the pub presents itself as a cut above the normal pub food experience, the prices are a bit higher (expected and worth it), you have to book in advance - so a smile when greeted and served, plus being attentive to the needs of the table shouldn't be missing.
I'll end on the positives - that the location is great, right next to Wimbledon Common, and the food was delicious.

Had a great meal here as part of some Christmas celebrations. The food is top notch here and far exceeds any other pub in the area. The specials board is great and the menu itself covers all bases (from my culinary angle anyway).

Carrot starter was brilliant with really thoughtful presentation, and the pork tomahawk special was beautifully cooked.

Well looked after by the staff, particularly Phoebe and Lenny.

As a local, I feel like I've neglected this place over the years as I started to avoid as prices rose. But as all other places have caught up, this is by far the go to place for me for food.

(Not rated rooms as didn't stay and location as that's rather subjective!)

We had a small Christmas event last Saturday for 6. Everyone was very impressed with the service (thank you, Phoebe!), atmosphere and of course location. That said, the quality of the food and wine was easily the best this group of foodies has enjoyed for years. High quality menu, new dishes and great wine to go with anything (or nothing :)) ... I can't wait for the next excuse to visit!

We had a perfect dinner at the Fox and Grapes to celebrate our wedding anniversary this week. Service was great and the food was all excellent. It was steak night and we enjoyed making the most of it! Special mention as well for the apple crumble, which was delicious.
