Wow, what an awesome cafe! I work just round the corner at the university and have been meaning to try this place for a while. I was not disappointed! The decor and vibe of the place is very welcoming, and the service was impeccable. I ordered the set 2, which was great value for about 8 quid considering it includes tea and toast/bread. Every part of the meal was cooked perfectly and the ingredients are good quality. Sausage was nice and herby too which is just how they should be. Will definitely come again more regularly to support such a well-run establishment with superb food and value.

We visited the Fat Ox in Tenterden today, having won a meal for two on a facebook competition.. we would have happily paid for the meal as it was all amazing. We both had the pork belly with crackling, pigs in blankets on the side, one portion was plenty for two to share, and a Biscoff cheesecake for pudding. We both had clean plates and were really impressed. The pub was busy and had a lovely atmosphere.. Landlady Amy and her barmaid Hannah were really friendly and provided fantastic service. Would definitely go back!

We found this cafe by chance as the cafe we normally stop at on route home was closed. We were greeted on arrival by Jo. I am gluten free and was delighted when Jo told me I could get a gluten free breakfast. My friends had the breakfast bagel while I tucked into sausage, bacon, scrambled egg, mushroom and tomato with gluten free toast and real butter. My friends reported that the bagels were delicious. The cafe was an unexpected gem . It has a lovely atmosphere and Jo the waitress is so friendly. Ceci the owner/chef is also lovely.

My sister and I went to this lovely cafe today. First time I’ve been but my sister has been several times. I am coeliac and there was. so much choice ( something I’m not often used to having),, We had a lovely sandwich which we shared to leave room for cake. So many to chose from. I chose a delicious cheesecake and my sister who isn’t gluten free had the chocolate and cherry cake. We both thought the cakes were yummy. Thank you for having such a big gluten free choice, we’ll definitely be visiting again soon.

We purchased a Virgin experience voucher for a weekend hen do with Chapel Down Winery and a one night stay at Little Silver hotel included. Trying to navigate a hen do of 17 people was quite the challenge, but Little Silver went above and beyond to assist us. Numerous emails back and forth, arrangement of transportation, several dietary requirements and numerous requests, Little Silver did not disappoint. The hotel was clean, spacious and eccentric. Diane went above and beyond to make sure everything was organised and our dinner and breakfast was a success. Thank you to the Little Silver staff for a great stay albeit short!

Stayed here as part of a wedding party. For the wedding the ceremony, the dinner and disco took place in the same room with staff changing everything to make it appropriate for the next leg of the service. Staff were very accommodating and friendly going above and beyond to help out. Rooms were nice and clean, bathroom had a shower only but water was nice and hot. As the building is old some of the floorboards are a bit creaky and you might hear next door from time to time. This is not often or loud enough to be a problem.

Stayed here as part of a Virgin wine experience tour and the staff made us feel very welcome. The service when we had dinner and breakfast was very good and the food was very nice and great value. My only criticism would be that the beds are too soft, but that is just personal preference. I highly recommend a stay here.

Wow! What a little ray of Spanish sunshine in the middle of Kent. The food and service is absolutely perfect, I highly recommend the Gambas pil pil. The biggest and juiciest prawns I’ve ever eaten. All that was missing was the Mediterranean Sea. Thank you Ancient Boro.

This is an excellent little pub. The beers are well kept with a good selection that changes regularly and can be sampled as a tray of thirds. The same for ciders although I haven't tried those yet. The staff are very welcoming. As for the tapas...wow! We're gradually working our way through the menu and have not been disappointed once. Excellent real ales and authentic tapas, what more could you want.

Just could not wait to savour their lovely food this this not so insta ready pics 🤣🤣🤣 We LOVE the food at This Ancient Boro and they never disappoint! So far our favourites are the salt & pepper squid, bavette steak in yummy sauce, garlic gambas, garlic mushrooms, pardon peppers, créma catalans, lemon tart, sticky toffee pudding & more. Sarah’s team is super nice with a special thank you to Freya & Rosie last Sunday. Oh, and they’re 100% dog friendly too 😊 Highly & wholeheartedly recommended!!!

This Ancient Boro The best roast and tapas we’ve had for YEARS!! We were lucky enough to be treated to a delicious Sunday lunch by Sarah, the owner of the pub, while we’re taking care of Raffles and Florence for her & Mark. OMG WHAT A TREAT!!! It was really like being in Spain ☀️ Our neighbours at the table next to us were laughing because we just couldn’t stop saying how good it all was 😅 As a bonus, the whole staff was brilliant: attentive, helpful, kind. HIGHLY recommended. If you’re local to Tenderden: book your table now! If you’re coming from further afield: it’s 100% worth the drive!

Had a lovely morning coffee break here. The cafe was really clean and well presented with friendly staff. There's a great selection of cakes, hot drinks and pasty's. The pasty's and sausage rolls are all made in Cornwall and looked really nice. Cakes were fresh and moist with plenty of flavour

We stayed at The Woolpack for one night - yesterday (Wednesday 13 November). Despite the building work next door (nothing to do with The Woolpack) we found the pub/hotel wonderful. A beautiful historical building with excellent staff. (The pumbing was interesting - it added charm). The room was lovely and the staff superb. The food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast. A special mention for the Manager, Garry (we belive that's the correct spelling) who was a master of all trades and an excellent host. We have reason to visit the area again and will do our best to book The Woolpack again. Thank you the Woolpack.

We had the best Sunday lunch we’ve ever had at the Woolpack . The pub is gorgeous, staff are lovely - funny and professional - my partner had the roast beef and I didn’t get a word out of him for the whole meal as he was enjoying it so much. I don’t eat meat and have suffered at the hands of dubious nut roasts across the entire county of Kent, but not at the Woolpack! Amazing nut roast - crispy and delicious. The vegetables were also stars in their own right - nothing heated up in a microwave etc. . . And the Yorkshire pudding was superb . . Love Love Love this Sunday roast, and would literally crawl on hands and knees from North Kent to go again . . ❤️

The food here is absolutely superb! I could not fault one thing on my plate. What could have been an average chicken was elevated above expectations. My husbands lamb was another level of excellence and the chocolate desert took us to heaven. Lovely place to stay, rooms are spacious and had a very large, comfortable bed. Lots of authentic charm about the building. Our room could have done with a slight update in some places and the crunching toilet can be disruptive, if you're not used to one but overall very nice room Staff were lovely and very helpful, took the time to make sure we were happy. The pub itself is excellent and again, seems to feel like your back in olden times. Fully recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch at The Swan after a wine tasting and tour at Chapel Down. An inviting menu did not disappoint with starters of asparagus, morels and truffled egg yolk, tiger prawn and kimchee toast and tomato with cashew ricotta and raspberry. All beautifully executed and utterly delicious. Mains of ribeye of beef and pork loin with apple butter were equally impressive and accompanied by an exquisite array of fresh vegetables. Yuzu and orange tart followed and it was all washed down with a lovely crisp white by Chapel Down. Service was friendly, skilled and well judged and it all made for a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. I would highly recommend The Swan whether you’re wine tasting beforehand or not!

Each dishes are well decorated. Asparagus was fresh and the Lamb Rump was tender. I felt varieties of Chapel Down sparkling wine selections were limited. I would like to try Three Graces etc without ordering a bottle. Rating 4-star for food given that it’s a £45 for three courses.

Had previously visited Chapel Down for a vineyard tour and wine tasting and had wanted to visit the restaurant for a while. Dinner menu is decent, lots of choices. Pork belly option was very good. Went on a Saturday night and it was fairly busy and good atmosphere.

Me and my parents came and had the most wonderful meal. Kate served us who was the shining star from everyone else and gave us so much help with my mums bad hip. I had the tomato salad to start, trout and then lemon merengue. The trout was cooked to perfection and the ricotta on the starter was super creamy. Definitely recommend the fish dishes 🐟 Georgy x

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hoof and Hook in Tenterden, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. We started with the Kentish Mini Tacos, and they were absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and a perfect start to the meal. The blend of local ingredients really shone through in every bite. For the main, I ordered the Hoof Burger with fries, and it was perfection on a plate. The burger was juicy, full of flavor, and cooked to perfection, while the fries were crispy and golden, just the way I like them. We also had the Asian Ribs , which were a delightful surprise—tender, packed with a rich, savoury glaze, and bursting with a perfect balance of sweet and spicy flavours. The combination of incredible food and warm, attentive service made our visit unforgettable. Hoof and Hook is definitely a must-visit if you’re in Tenterden! The Hoof & Hook is Situated in the heart of the historic town of Tenterden in the middle of the High Street in the building that was formerly Café Rouge. It has had a complete makeover, not just in its appearance but also the menu. The food is absolutely excellent, very high quality and beautifully presented. I had a "Hoof Classic" burger with fries and it was was delicious, cooked to perfection and the portion size was spot on. Probably one of the best burgers I have had in years, it consisted of two beef patties, cheese, lettuce, pickles, cheese and bacon all served in a really nice bun (sorry I missed the photo). My mother had the King Prawns (pictures attached), she said that they were probably the best King Prawns she had ever had. The service was outstanding and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend the Hoof & Hook. 10 out of 10 guys and keep up the excellent work, looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

This is an update: The meal we just had was beautiful, Staff polite courteous and informed . A real pleasure to eat here! Be prepared for large portions , I didn't. The nacho starter was as good as a main meal and really tasty. I had the bourbon ribs and couldn't even start the second one. Staff were quick, pleasant and attentive . The place was really busy and had a quick turnaround of tables. We weren't rushed in any way but do recommend booking especially at weekends. RECOMMEND.
