This restaurant is amazing. I'd never tried Ethiopian food before, but the lovely staff gave some really helpful advice on what to try, and gave perhaps the most attentive service I've ever had at a restaurant! The food was delicious, vegan, and at an incredible price (especially for London) - I'll definitely be going back when I'm in the area.

Sensational African Cuisine Adventure - Edit

Wonderful experience diving into Eritrean cuisine and it was all vegan! Yum! I’ve tried the other version of teff as a grain in Australia but this was next level. £14 for an enormous share plate that covered deliciously spicy yam, beetroot, pumpkin and lentils delightfully and thoughtfully seasoned.

We were perfectly hosted by the delightful Temesgen who told us stories of his home and whose service was excellent.

25/10/25: Hemel Hempstead and Brixton Weekend! Went in for Ethiopian craft beer, but was only lager in bottles. Decided to try the Honey Mead Wine instead and we all shared a bottle! Very tasty! Good, friendly services.

Firstly, I'd like to thank the woman who cooked for us and waited on us. She provided us with incredible service and gave us a cultural experience that I won't forget. It was truly unique.
We had the ginger beer (delish :)), samosas, and a mixed platter for one (shared between 2 people). We thought the restaurant had great prices for portions and the quality of the food. We'd highly recommend Light of Africa and would return if ever in London again! Thank you!
