A lunch visit with friends, lovely pub, surprising big with lots of seating and dog friendly inside.

The food was good and the service at the bar was very good, considering how busy they were. All the staff were friendly and eager to help.

Car park was full but the car park just a few hundred metres away has a space. Highly recommend if you’re wanting a new forest pub lunch and nice walk.

Delicious hearty lunch of steak stew with horseradish dumplings, curly kale and braised red cabbage. Hot, welcoming and just the right quantity. A log fire beside us and a good view of the forest from our window seat made for a perfect venue on a chilly Monday lunchtime.
Service was prompt and friendly.
A good selection of local ales too. A winner!

We dropped in for lunch and a pint after a three and a bit mile walk around Appleslade wood. It is very welcoming with a good selection of bottled and draught beers, cider wine, etc. There is a good choice of reasonably priced food on the menu. We had the Hunters Board sharing platter along with a portion of the bacon and cheese chips which was great. There was plenty for the three of us all washed down with a lovely pint of IPA. Well worth a visit.

I came here after a long hike and I cannot tell you how impressed I was not only by the beauty of the place, but also by the kindness of the staff. And the food was something amazingly delicious!
The soup of the day warmed me up in this cold weather, and the buttermilk chicken burger was not only a good portion, but also incredibly tasty.
I can definitely give 5 stars for everything and I will come back again.

Stopped for a quick drink after a walk. Lots of seating indoors and outside. On the edge of the new forest so you may see ponies wandering near. Car park which leads on to camp site. Good service. Friendly pub
